Seg 1- Personal news from each participant (when you are done with your segment please ask the next person what has been up with them)

GARY – What training do you have coming up? My next class is an Illinois FCCL certification course on September 19&20 for the full 16 hour course or Sunday the 20th for 8 hours if you meet the prerequisites. You can sign up on my website . Of course last weekend I was in the class with the added bonus of a handgun retention class with

JOHN – The classes I teach at WCU started this week so I’ve been pretty busy with that. I did meet with a client yesterday and our conversation turned to guns. Turns out Tom qualified Expert with the M16A1 when he was a Combat Engineer in the Army Reserve in the 70s.

The class with Paul Carlson and Grant Cunningham in North Carolina tentatively scheduled for this fall that Doc Wesson and I were trying to put together is being put on hold. I think we may try for the Spring instead. Doc’s work schedule and not enough solid interest contributed to this.

RACHEL – my sister’s wedding yesterday. Still trying to catch up on sleep from the last few weeks and organize my life for this fall. Made all my reservations for GRPC! Got an email invitation to their range day event – is anyone else doing that? I might…

SEAN – I shot an IDPA match yesterday! I need a better ammo budget. That’s really a lot of fun.

PAUL – Cornered Cat class. Improved although I only did a bit of shooting on Sunday. Unlike Rob, I need to add more live fire. I found some things that make my grouping a LOT better.

Chief Craig Effect: Detroit Citizens Arming Themselves In Face of Rising Crime Emailed in by Listener Anthony L

On the mean streets of Detroit, embattled citizens are arming themselves for their own protection with the approval and support of Police Chief James Craig. In a city plagued by crime, unemployment, shrinking police numbers and decades of single party rule, many of the remaining citizens are trying to take back their city. Handgun registrations and CCW permits have increased notably.

“There’s definitely been a “Chief Craig” effect,” said Rick Ector, a firearms instructor, business owner, blogger and friend of this show. His support and endorsement has been helpful. Ector said that he and other instructors have seen a steady rise in locals looking to get a permit, to protect themselves either on the street or in their 中国体彩官方apps. Ector noted that legally armed residents are having an effect. “中国体彩官方app invasions have gone down,” he said. “A huge reason was that there was a huge spate of 中国体彩官方appowners using their guns against intruders. More people have guns and it’s making burglars cautious.”

Rick said women are driving the growth in his business. “It used to be that we would only have one or two women in a class,” he said. “Now we are seeing much, much more. In the largely African-American city, residents are increasingly supportive of civilian armament. “If anyone should have the right or need to carry a gun, it should be the African-American community,” Philip Smith, founder of the National African American Gun Association, told Reuters.

Seems like this is one more lesson that can be learn from the rise and fall of Detroit. If only they were willing to listen.

Sean – The real terror of this is the lack of control. Anti-gunners don’t want low crime, they want high control.

Rachel – I appreciate those who make the gun world much easier for women to enter and thrive in.

John – what threatens the gun controllers even more that it is African Americans

Paul – going to reach out to Rick Ector this week for next weekend’s show

An Alabama Sheriff just doesn’t get it

Russell County Sheriff Heath Taylor thinks that regardless of whether you qualify for a concealed carry permit that HE should be the one who decides if you get it. Taylor was quoted in a saying that “We know things that the computer can’t tell us. We know things about our citizens. We know who’s going through a divorce. We know who’s in a bad time, who may be drinking too much, who may be abusive, but hasn’t necessarily crossed the line of a crime. But in our opinion, they don’t need a pistol permit” This following a theater shooting that we covered a few weeks ago where the gunman got a pistol despite several disqualifying factors that should have stopped him in the NICS check system. What the sheriff didn’t say is that the same things that should have stopped the gunman from getting a gun through NICS also would have allowed any sheriff to disallow the carry permit.

John – this makes me think of the NC sheriffs and the pistol permit system.

Sean – So he’s saying that he has a list of citizens he’s put on double secret probation?

Rachel – I know many people who would think this is a great idea. They don’t realize that this line of thinking will come back to bite them….and their grandkids.

Gary – They are doing this in Illinois, we are shall issue but any law enforcement agency can deny permits.

Paul –

Gabby Giffords and Starman Kelly Redefine Gun Control as Gun Responsibility

In an Orwellian redefinition of the term, Gabby Gifford and her opportunistic husband Mark “Starman” Kelly are claiming that , but rather favor ‘gun responsibility’. Despite never meeting a gun-control effort they didn’t like, they now say they do not support ‘gun-control’ in the traditional sense of the phrase. With a profound grasp of the obvious, Kelly said that nobody likes to be controlled. He went on to say that the gun control group he and Giffords launched simply supports “basic principles” to keep communities safer.

This is an indication of the success the gun-rights community has earned; the term “gun-control’ now has a negative connotation with most of the public. The terms gun-safety and now gun-responsibility are simply efforts to get around the public’s evolving understanding. Giffords and Kelly’s statement is a nuanced, and deceitful, acknowledgement of our gains.

As Kurt Schlichter said to the antis; “Screw You”. Giffords and Kelly are urged to again substitute a word.

Gary – Government forcing ‘Gun Responsibility’ IS ‘Gun Control’

John – I’m reminded of our interview with Jeff Knox regarding the VA and SSA. Shouldn’t Gabby Giffords actually be a prohibited person due to brain injuries.

Gary –

Paul – unfortunately I saw in the news this week that Giffords has had a US Navy ship named after her. I think that it is unfortunate that a ship made for fighting is named for a person who is against our rights.

Sean – Gun Ban, Gun Control, Gun Safety, Gun Responsibility: You can say poop, feces, or night soil, but no matter what you call it, it tastes just the same .

Rachel- this is true Sean, but it’s also true that those who control the narrative have a significant edge. Maybe we’ve successfully given gun “control” a negative connotation…let’s also make sure we’re the ones who successfully define gun responsibility.

Senators Ask For Extra-legal Delay of Firearms Purchases

In a coordinated anti-rights assault, thirteen anti-gun U.S. senators have Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s to refuse to release firearms to customers whose background checks aren’t completed within three business days. Michael Bloomberg’s Demanding Mommies is also the same demand of Gander Mountain and Sportsman’s Warehouse. And, U.S. Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-Ariz.) and Brady Campaign president Dan Gross the same from firearm dealers nationwide. Thankfully, the retailers have so far not responded to the demands.

The largely ineffective requires initial background checks to be completed within three business days. The three day limit is there so as to not violate the Second Amendment toooooo much. If the automated check is not completed in time, the retailer is allowed to release the firearm. If granted, these extralegal requests would deny a fundamental right as the result of bureaucratic delay. The threat of deliberate delays is clear.

We applaud the retailer’s decision to resist the pressures of the legislators and activists. We support those that support us.

John – I have just three little words for these retailers – Smith. And. Wesson. They should remember what happened S&W when they entered an agreement with the Clinton Administration.

Sean – The 3 day limit was put there on purpose…

Rachel- everybody, do your part. Be proactive in getting to retailers and encouraging them to support our rights.

Gary- I carry these

Sean – No Secret boycotts

John – Delta and their ban on trophies

One serves in the Air Force, another recently served in Afghanistan in the National Guard, another is studying physical therapy in Sacramento – and these 3 Americans are being hailed as heroes for tackling & disarming a gunman they happened to encounter on a high-speed Amsterdam-Paris train.

Air Force serviceman Spencer Stone remained hospitalized Saturday after being stabbed, though the Pentagon said the injury was not life-threatening. another passenger was wounded by a handgun in the attack.

The French Interior Minister said the American “were particularly courageous and showed great bravery in very difficult circumstances.

The attacker did not fire his automatic weapon but did wound one man with a handgun and another with a blade. The suspect is a 26-year-old Moroccan.

It’s unclear whether there was a political motive to the gunman’s actions. Counterterrorism police are leading the investigation and are questioning the attacker,

Sean – Let’s not forget the fourth member of our band of “have a go heroes,” a

Gary – I have to quote the NRA “Good guys with guns stop bad guys with guns”

Paul – A reminder that it is weren’t for the French in the 1770’s we would likely still have a monarch

14 Year Old Defends Siblings From 中国体彩官方app Invaders

Faced with , a 14 year old did everything he had to do: He hid his six year old twin siblings in closets, got his father’s cell phone…. and he grabbed his rifle. When one of the intruders opened the closet where he was hiding, the thug found himself not facing the expected frightened child, but the muzzle of the young man’s firearm. “I had my gun loaded and ready to shoot, but when he saw me he just took off running,” young Andrew Mason related. Andrew’s father said “He’s excellent. He did everything perfectly. He couldn’t have done better, and he’s actually a hero,”

The proud papa had done pretty well himself. Kiewa Mason recounted that “I believe in the right to bear arms, and it’s not like he was foreign to it. We go to the shooting range quite often. We go to the Clark County (Las Vegas) shooting range quite often. Kiewa Mason said his family has practiced for this scenario.

The two thugs were videoed by the 中国体彩官方app’s security system. They are well known to the neighborhood and are expected to be arrested soon.

Our congratulations to the two Mason men; Well done, well done indeed.

Rachel – gun safety storage, authorized use

Gary – Similar law here in Illinois.

Paul – Good on the father for teaching the child that once someone is running away not to shoot.

Sean – Something jumps out at me when I look at a picture of the young man with the rifle.

Four Teenagers Shoot 中国体彩官方appowner and at Wife Holding a Six Month Old Baby

In a bone-chilling reminder of why we arm ourselves, a Georgia family had to endure the by four armed men. Michael Lash answered a teen’s plea for the loan of a car jack. Once the door was opened, four males forced their way inside. In the fracas, Lash was shot twice in the legs. The thugs then fired at his wife holding their six-month-old daughter. The shot fortunately missed. Their two year old son was unharmed in the incident.

Whitney Lash was talking to a 911 operator before the first shots rang out. However, the cops arrived far too late to apprehend the suspects, who remain at large. The horrifying 911 recording can be found at the link in the show notes.

Listeners are reminded to NEVER open the door to someone they do not know. If they appear official, confirm their identity by a call to their organization. And please take heed of the many stories we present of armed 中国体彩官方appowners successfully defending their lives with a firearm.

Gary – Four invaders and they want to limit our magazine capacity to 7 or 10 rounds.

Sean – Locked screen door. Barriers between you and intruders.

Defensive Gun Use: Shop Owner Refuses To Be Robbed, Takes Robber’s Gun And Shoots Him With It

when two robbers entered his CAD Auto Parts in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Lucky because he was able to take away one of robbers’ guns and use it to defend himself.

Conrad Bloomfield, 36, of Lauderhill and his accomplice entered Hepburn’s auto parts shop and demanded he get on the ground while they began robbing the shop. When Hepburn was slow to get on the ground, Bloomfield began to pistol whip him. It was then that Hepburn took the robber’s gun and turned it on him. He ended up shooting Bloomfield 5 times in the chest. The accomplice did wound Hepburn in the exchange of gunfire. Fortunately, Hepburn is expected to have a full recovery while Bloomfield is in critical condition.

John – this is another story illustrating why you need to be armed.

Sean – Saw this video

Rachel- fighting is a mindset: the will to survive

Paul – never give up if you still have consciousness

Ever since Illinois became the last state in the country中国体彩官方app to allow concealed carry, we’ve seen reports of legally-armed citizens against armed criminals. Here is another one of those stories that happened late Thursday. A 24-year-old man, legally carrying a concealed firearm, was walking down the street with a woman when and announced that they were being robbed . . .

As a response, the 24-year-old drew his firearm, as did one of the armed thugs. Both men fired. The permit holder was shot in the leg, while the suspect was shot in the chest.

Both were taken to the same hospital where the permit holder is in stable condition. The suspect, however, is in critical condition and, if he makes it through his injuries, will be facing numerous charges.

Paul – shot placement

Sean – What constitutes a “Win?”

Rachel- too often, it’s not about the wallet. That may be the pretext, but things can escalate quickly.

Paul – I carry 2 wallets

Rachel- there’s always the wallet holster…

Sean – I ain’t here for no gunfight

Listener e-mail discussion

Our first email is from Chris in North Carolina

Hey All,

(Caution! wall of text below. Feel free to edit as necessary for brevity as desired)

I have been meaning to drop you one of those oh-so coveted fan emails for a while now but marriage, a new job, and moving to North Carolina got in the way of things. I wanted to express my appreciation to everyone for all the time and effort put into the show each week. Those of you on air and those who work behind the scenes (I’m talking about you Charlie Foxtrot) are doing amazing work. I eagerly anticipate the release of each show. I savor the knowledgeable,
insightful and sometimes irreverent commentary you and your guests provide. You are my go-to podcast for my short commute each day.

I am a native born Minnesotan so a comment in episode 343 caught my attention. You mentioned a very wise hesitancy to render aid to the aggressor in a DGU that happened in Minnesota. I know Paul travels through the “California of the north” so I thought I’d mention this.
Some states have laws with severe penalties that may be interpreted to require you to foolishly put your life in danger a second time and render aid if you’ve used deadly force to stop someone threatening your life.

Of course there are conditional statements in the verbiage of the law making use of what I like to call “lawyer speak” (a.k.a. weasel words) that can be interpreted to allow you to not rendering physical aid if you are still in fear of your life. However, as we have seen there is a concerted effort by the media and most liberals to misinterpret these passages in a way that is NOT advantageous to a victim who chooses to defend themselves. The _potential_ exists that you may be prosecuted for not going beyond calling the cleanup crew to help someone who just tried to kill you.

I personally believe no person should ever be required by the power of the state to do more than call the police and let the trained professionals approach a violent offender. Depending on the prosecutor you could be at risk if you do not. Here is a link to the statute . I hope this helps people make an informed decision if they should ever have to do the unsavory duty of defending themselves or loved ones. P.S. I’m sure John is wondering, yes for the time being, I do live in Cary, the Containment Area for Relocated Yankees.

Chris in North Carolina

Sean – Welcome中国体彩官方app to the Massachusetts of Dixie

Paul – MAG 40

Sean – Law of Self

John – In other words, you don’t have to be Minnesota Nice to a criminal.

Next up is Bud who sent this one in

I really enjoy listening to The Polite Society Podcast. I listen every week and always check for new podcasts during the week. The DGU’s are very interesting and there are only a couple of gun shows that even discuss items like this. As much as I enjoy the show, I do have a couple of suggestions for making it even more interesting.

I would love to hear you have Dr. John Lott on the show and just let him discuss facts about gun deaths, crimes and state laws in America. It seems like every time someone has Dr. Lott on their show they only allow him to answer specific questions and then rush him to provide an answer. I always get the feeling that he had much much more to discuss, but show times didn’t allow him to speak.

If the show time doesn’t allow for Dr. Lott to discuss the details of his research, then make the time, extend the length of the show or make it a two or three part series. I’m sure that other subscribers/listeners are just as interested in his research as I am and this would provide a lot of information for gun owners to use in conversations with those on the fence about guns. I think that Massod Ayoob would be just as interesting. *** Just ask them a question or two to get the conversation started and then turn them loose.

Another guest that I’d love to hear from is someone like Michael Bloomberg or the leader of Mothers Against whatever. ** It would be interesting to hear just how people like this think and/or process information. I wouldn’t allow them to misstate the facts about guns, as a matter of fact it would be good to hear how they actually handle the facts.

These are just suggestions about shows that I believe would be highly listened to podcasts and quite possibly make national news that could put “The Polite Society Podcast” in the must listen to podcasts of many people.

Thank you,

John – We have had Dr. Lott on the show a while back. Perhaps it is time to get him on again.

Sean – GET GAIL!

Rachel- Wanna find out “how they actually handle the facts”? Sounds like they handle facts by avoidance…ignorance is bliss?

John – I’d love to have Shannon Watts on to explain why she opposes campus carry when her daughter goes to a school where they have campus carry.

We also got an email from Clayton

Hey folks, I heard y’all begging for emails so I decided to pipe up and educate you a bit.
While Minnesota did drop several states from our recognized reciprocity, (we only recognize permits that include live fire in the class qualification) we have been making large breakthroughs in pro gun legislation. We are moving in the right direction at a pretty good pace! While California is sliding deeper and deeper in the opposite direction.
We have no magazine capacity limit, no ammo purchase limit, no limit on number of firearms carried, our permit allows rifle and shotgun carry, no thumb safety requirement, no god forsaken bullet buttons, and we can even carry guns in the woods without a permit.
(It literally says “in the woods” in the statute. Ha) There are A LOT of hunters here.

Minnesota just legalized suppressors, hunting with them, and stripped the government from the ability to confiscate weapons during a declared emergency. (We didn’t even know they had that power since we have no earthquakes or hurricanes! Apparently a legislator snuck it in around May)
We stripped the requirement to notify the Capitol of intention to carry on grounds too. There is no language in our laws about open or concealed for our carry, so I like to open carry for comfort, speed, and to be a pleasantly polite ambassador to the public for responsibly armed citizens like us.

I know those are common things for Southerners but I just wanted to remind you we aren’t as Liberal as the “Twin Cities” want you to believe. We have nearly 200,000 issued permits here and it’s growing fast.
I’m proud to be an NRA member, (an unnamed organization) permit to carry instructor, and (an unnamed number of) guns owner!

John – Now why doesn’t MN recognize NC because we meet their class and shooting requirements.

Gary – Rob can’t be with us but he is still writing. He posted yesterday about the train shooting in France. You can see that post at John you have a new post this week right?

We would like to thank Charlie Foxtrot for writing up show notes for us. Even though you don’t hear him on the air he is a big part of what you get to hear. look his blog up at not one more gun law dot blogspot dot com

Paul: That wraps up another episode of the Polite Society Podcast. I’d like to thank Sean for joining us today. co-hosts, will you be with us next time? Rachel: yes! I’m back in the swing of things! I’m looking forward to it. Until the next time…

Seg 1- Personal news from each participant (when you are done with your segment please ask the next person what has been up with them)

Rob- Cleaned some guns. Dry practice. Bill Frady commented on one of my articles on his Lock and Load Radio program.

John – I’m baaack! What I thought was going to be a one week absence from the show turned into two weeks due to my mother-in-law suffering a fractured pelvis. She is on the mend and is in an acute rehab facility.

While I was gone I got to meet Charlie Foxtrot in person. We had a great time over lunch. I couldn’t thank him enough for all the help he has been to us on the podcast. As an aside – and Rob will be interested in this – Charlie has a really nice classic open cockpit sailboat.

Doc Wesson mentioned me on the last Gun Nation podcast. We are trying to get Grant Cunningham and Paul Carlson to a class in NC.

In gun related stuff, I presented my nephew with a Ruger 10/22 in stainless for his combined 18th birthday/HS graduation gift. The rifle was one that my late father-in-law had set aside for him. I just added a nice red dot sight on it. Grant was very excited to get it. I’ve also started to re-read John Ross’ classic book about the gun culture entitled .

Gary- Had a strange exception from FedEx on some ammo LuckyGunner.com was helpful with information about that. Helped some former students with their IL FCCL applications. Cleaning guns I have to put another 100 rounds through with no malfunctions before I switch over to the Para.

Rachel- Last weekend I instructed a ladies-only rifle marksmanship course at Battle Road. We set this up for some folks from A Girl & A Gun. They’re the best. I always love hanging out with those ladies. I knew it was going to be a great weekend when I was standing at the gate in the pouring rain to welcome them on the first morning, and they all came rolling in in their trucks and jeeps with big smiles on their faces, ready to work rain or shine. And we had a good deal of both! We instructors noted several differences with this line: lots of yoga mats, not so many shooting mats; almost all centerfires (mostly AR-15’s), carts for gear, and of course a different dynamic that comes with the female-only courses. Can’t wait to have the Girl & A Gun ladies out again for another shoot.

Meanwhile, we’re gearing up for more Battle Road courses this fall. There’s our Zombie Run on October 10, which is already around half-way full. Besides that, we’re looking at a precision rifle course to learn the math and science behind those sniper shots, some intro to firearms and self defense courses geared toward women, CHL classes, and as always, our normal tactical pistol and shotgun classes. I’d like to remind our listeners that we offer specialized courses tailored to your group, and we also love doing private courses. Let us know how we can help you out.

I’m also preparing for the 2-week girls’ camp that I lead, . It is August 2-14 this year and I will be teaching firearms to all the girls who come.

Paul- I need to apologize to the listeners. I did not finish editing the show Sunday night before I HAD to get to bed, so took the laptop with me to go to work on Monday. I figured that I would get some time monday or Tuesday to finish editing the show and get it uploaded, yeah right. I did not finish it until Wednesday evening, and what was supposed to be a mid week show did not release until after I got 中国体彩官方app on Saturday.

I had a GREAT time shooting with friends on Saturday morning. We had 5 new shooters! Well almost, 2 of the 5 had shot before, but not for more than 5 years and so we counted them in as among the newbies. 3 of them actually took their first handgun shots yesterday. This has brought about a bit of a dilemma for me.

I was fortunate enough to be considered among the most trained handgun shooters in our informal gathering so it fell on to me to do a safety briefing and help the newer shooters out. I absolutely fell in love with helping them.

One thing that I have always asserted is that I am NOT a firearms instructor. I got involved with handgun shooting to protect myself and my family and started the podcast because I thought that I could help make a difference in the direction that our nation was headed. I don’t like to follow. One reason that it took over a year and a half for us to start doing DGU stories is that I didn’t want to do the same thing that The Gun Dudes and Cam Edwards did on their shows. In the same vein a LOT of podcast hosts are trainers, and again I have never wanted to follow the pack.

Now having said all that I am actually considering going through the steps to become an instructor. I truly loved helping out the new shooters take their first steps and would like to be able to do more of it.

I got a chance to put a few magazines worth of ammo through the H&K VP9 while I was at the range. Talk about a SWEET gun! I do not like the mag release on it, but that is about the only thing that I can say negative about the gun. On slow fire at 15 feet the group that I fired could have been covered by a half dollar coin. 15 feet rapid fire could have been covered by a dollar bill, one that had been cut in half. I don’t know how but H&K has defied the laws of physics, they made a lightweight full size double stack 9mm that has next to no recoil and feels great in your hand.

Kathy Jackson class coming to Sioux Falls on August 15th and 16th. We are extending the free handgun retention class for paid class members until July 10th. If you email Susan@ad7.8f3.myftpupload.com to register and pay for your class by July 10th you get the 4 hour handgun retention class for free. this class is a $50 value.

Anti-gun Cali Senator Yee Guilty of Corruption

California Senator has long been a thorn in the side of many of the state’s citizens. He was a San Francisco hard leftist, unrestrained free-spender, and a virulent anti-gunner even by California’s wild standards. He was given an A+ rating by the Brady Bunch and named to their Gun Violence Prevention Honor Roll. So, it was a bit of a surprise when the Feds arrested the powerful, well-connected politician for corruption and gun-running.

In an , Yee was accused of providing automatic weapons and rocket propelled grenades to California’s extremely violent Chinese drug gangs. He was also accused of money laundering, murder-for-hire, and drug distribution.

This week, Yee and several confederates pled guilty to a . He could face a quarter million dollar fine and twenty years in prison. HIs primary criminal partner, tong leader Raymond “Shrimp Boy” Chow, was not part of the plea deal. Also not included were the gun-running, money laundering, murder-for-hire, and drug distribution charges. There’s hope that these charges are being deferred to assure Yee’s cooperation in a widening investigation of California’s endemic political corruption. It is also possible that these charges will be dismissed in a dysfunctional legal system.

We can only wish Leland Yee a long and healthy life behind the bars of a Federal maximum security prison. With lots of his political friends for company.

Woman Killed by Paroled Illegal Alien With Multiple Felonies, Multiple Deportations

, 32, was shot to death at a popular San Francisco tourist spot, a victim of political correctness as surely as if the elites themselves pulled the trigger. is a hardened thug, an illegal alien deported five times, and a criminal with seven felony convictions to his record, four of them involving narcotics. He was on parole for yet another crime. Francisco Sanchez, 45, is a reprehensible man, an evil man. Yet, he was allowed to traverse the border and country中国体彩官方app seemingly at will, stay here illegally, and largely avoid any significant punishment for his crimes. The first day of July, a man that should have been behind bars or a thousand miles away, took a gun he wasn’t allowed to have as a felon, in a city that is largely a gun-free zone, and went to a tourist attraction looking for someone to kill. There, without a word, he shot a random stranger through the heart.

Sanchez’ latest outrage started in March, when he was turned over to San Francisco police on an outstanding drug warrant by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. ICE officials issued a detainer at that time, requesting notification prior to his release so arrangements could be made to take custody. However, ICE knew that San Francisco had declared itself a “sanctuary city” and that the request would not be honored. ICE effectively, cynically washed their hands of him. Sanchez was also in violation of his ongoing Texas parole. His legal status, his prior convictions, his parole violations didn’t matter: San Francisco released him on an unsuspecting public.

A few weeks later, Katy Steinle, a beautiful, vibrant young woman lay dying in a pool of her own blood, begging her distraught father to help her.

There can be no better – or worse – reason why we fight for our Second Amendment Rights. No greater proof of why we must be our own first responders. We. Are. On. Our. Own. We cannot afford to do otherwise. Not when our own governments favor criminals over the law abiding. Not when feel-good sentiments trump reason and justice. Not when our governments seek to remove our most effective means of self-defense against the evil they nurture.

TV News Crews Robbed at Gunpoint While Filming Story of San Francisco Pier Shooting

Further illustrating just how well San Francisco’s draconian anti-gun policies are working; several at gunpoint while filming the story of Kathryn Steinle’s shooting death at the San Francisco Embarcadero. Three males in dark clothing, one with dreadlocks, participated in the early morning attack. They drove a late-model BMW with aftermarket rims and no license plates. The armed attack resulted in several injuries and a significant loss of TV station property. This seem completely implausible, as San Francisco is almost entirely a gun-free zone.

It’s hard, okay – impossible, not to indulge in a bit of . The city’s media have long been eager supporters of Frisco’s many harsh and intrusive anti-gun laws. Law-abiding citizens find it difficult to legally possess a firearm for protection even within their own 中国体彩官方apps. The lawless find no impediment, as the TV news crews can testify. Our glee is somewhat tempered, as this event will undoubtedly lead to still more ineffective anti-gun proposals to limit the rights of the law-abiding. But, that’s life in Baghdad by the Bay.

Kansas is Now a Constitutional Carry State

As of July 1st, Kansas is a Constitutional Carry state! The recent NRA backed bill provided for permitless concealed carry became effective the first day of July. Kansas already enjoyed open carry.

Congratulations, Jayhawkers! You’ve made us proud!

Rachel: OK, NRA. You backed permitless carry for Kansas? What about Texas?

One in Three ‘Muricans Owns Guns

Columbia University recently published a study on gun ownership. Interestingly, the study was performed by an assistant professor of of epidemiology. That’s the science that studies the patterns, causes, and effects of disease conditions. Could it be… biased? Yet, the study found mostly positive results for gun owners. The study holds that one out of three Americans owns a gun. Ownership by state ranges from Alaska’s high of 61.7 percent to the lows of Delaware’s 5.2 percent. Most gun owners were white males 55 and above (guilty!) and the majority were married (Guilty and sentenced to life.)

Anti-gunners have claimed for years that rising gun sales, soaring concealed carry applications, and record breaking background check figures all indicate that gun ownership was shrinking. The study claimed that approximately 1 in 5 Americans owned a gun and that the number was diminishing.

None of the studies seem to take into account that Americans often refuse to admit to owning a gun when asked by an unrecognized voice on the telephone (Oh so guilty!)

‘Muricans Don’t Want Gun Control Discussed in 2016 Elections

A Suffolk University/USA TODAY survey finds that Americans do not want gun control to be a significant portion of the 2016 election discussions. The survey was performed just a week after the attack on the Charleston Emanuel AME church. 52 to 43% do not want further gun control discussions. Similarly, 56 to 40% do not believe expanded background checks would reduce mass shootings.

The Suffolk study comes months after the PEW study that found the majority of Americans supported gun rights rather than more gun control: 52 to 46%. The Suffolk study supports the PEW study and further confounds the challenges by Bloomberg and the Huffington Post.

You know, it’s a bit disconcerting, although nice, to be in the majority for a change. ;^)’

Chris P. Cream Christie Creates Panel to Delay Changes to NJ Gun Laws

Showing none of the aggressive, decisive behavior he’s known for around the buffet table, New Jersey Governor Chris to recommend possible changes to New Jersey gun laws. This is a rather transparent way of avoiding any of the substantive changes he could make to New Jersey’s abusive and unConstitutional gun laws. Christie is obviously feeling a little pressure in his ample hindquarters from the Carol Bowne killing. Her tragic death points a finger at New Jersey’s deliberate mishandling of the CCW permit process.

Show friend Frank Fiamingo of the believes that Christie could write an executive order accepting self-defense as a justifiable need to carry arms. Christie could also address the unlawful delays in answering the request for a CCW.

Christie’s use of the advisory panel is just a way of providing cover while he attempts to position himself as a conservative presidential candidate. It is disingenuous in the extreme, disrespectful of the memory of Carol Bowne, and smacks of contempt for lawful gun owners and the Second Amendment. It will be a cold day in the fat farm before many gun owners vote for Christie. Choke on your overfed ambitions, big guy.

What to Do When Your Doctor Asks About Your Guns
Doctors for Responsible Gun Ownership (DR GO) is out with recommendations of . Surprisingly, they don’t recommend lying like a rug, but instead favor a graduated response ranging from a polite refusal to answer the questions to submitting a complaint to the doctor’s licensing board. It’s all very interesting reading, especially when the Feds have access to everyone’s medical records. The link can be found in the show notes.

damn lies and statistics

The tyrant Joseph Stalin famously said “Those who cast the votes decide nothing. Those who count the votes decide everything.” The same can be said of statistics when the United States murder rate is compared to other countries.

For example, England and Wales do not count murders in their statistic unless there’s a conviction. The U.S. could cut its murder statistics in half simply by adopting the same practice. That shows that country中国体彩官方app to country中国体彩官方app comparisons are hardly comparing apples with apples. What these statistics won’t show us is that the trend in homicide with a firearm have been going down in the US as gun ownership increased, and going up in Britain as they banned civilian ownership of handguns. Gun-related crime has doubled in England and Wales in the past ten years. While the armed homicide rate in the US dropped by 40 percent over the last 25 years.

CNN Anchor Saved By The Gun

Thank you to listener Anthony for sending this in.

It’s fortunate that two former CNN On-Air personalities didn’t believe the anti-gun rhetoric spouted by their past employer. CNN anchor and her correspondent husband were . Their assailant was a convicted criminal wanted for violating his Memphis parole.

Russell had left the hotel room to get something from her car. surprised Russell with a gun to the head and forced her back into the room, throwing her on the bed and demanding her valuables. de Caro emerged naked and dripping from the shower into that desperate scene. Russell relates; “The man was just wild. He was pointing the gun, and the way that he was acting, it was as if he’d done it before. I suddenly realized that it wouldn’t bother him at all to pull the trigger.” Fortunately, both Russell and de Capo were concealed carry permit holders and had their firearms in the motel room.
For a time, it looked like the thief would be content with de Caro’s briefcase. But he turned around and opened fire. “My husband returned fire. And he’s a better shot.” said Russell. Police reported that multiple rounds were fired by each man. de Caro was hit twice in the abdomen and once in the leg. However, he was indeed the better shot, as the assailant stopped his attack and staggered into the parking lot, where he died. de Caro was taken to an area hospital and is expected to make a complete recovery.

Many media outlets reported that Russell and de Caro had CCW permits. Although, the ever-partisan New York Times hid the the fact of their CCW permits in the story’s last paragraph. CNN conveniently forgot to mention that their former employees were legally carrying firearms. However, we will commend Russell and de Caro for recognizing that the Cable New Network’s anti-gun agitprop was and is the stuff of nonsense. Believing that idiocy can get you killed — on the street — or in a Motel 6.

One Dead, One Wounded, Five Saved in Las Vegas

Using the ol’ “My car is broken, can I use your phone?” ploy, a woman tricked a child into opening the front door of a Las Vegas 中国体彩官方app. past Tiffany Carter, AKA Tarnesha Harris, who had forced the door and grabbed the child to silence him. Armed with a stolen pistol, Willie M. Pro ran down a hallway and kicked open the door of a bedroom.

That’s when their carefully planned 中国体彩官方app invasion was literally blown off the rails.

Behind Door Number One was Jesus Sanchez. Jesus was armed. Jesus! (You shouldn’t include the exclamation. It was too tempting for an itinerant wordsmith. ;^)’ ) Pro staggered back into the hallway, wounded. However, he still had his handgun, and with the child nearby and in danger, Sanchez fired another telling shot. The badly wounded suspect dropped his pistol, turned and ran toward his getaway vehicle.

The 12-year-old managed to get Harris’ hands from his mouth and scream for help. A mother’s instinct drove Sofia Velado from her bedroom. The obsessively-focused Harris ran into the room to steal Velado’s purse. Once back in the hallway, Harris struggled with Velador, forcing several shots by Sanchez. Finally breaking off her attack, the wounded Harris crawled to the car and escaped. But not before Sanchez fired a shot from an AK-47 at the fleeing felons.

Police arrived at the 中国体彩官方app several minutes later to find Sanchez outside, standing guard with his AK-47. Fortunately, he immediately followed the cops’ instructions and dropped the rifle. While evaluating the confusing scene, police received a call from a hospital about two people with multiple gunshot wounds. Willie M. Pro died from his wounds. Harris was flown to a trauma center in critical condition.

Tarnesha Harris will likely survive her gunshots. She has been booked for conspiracy, attempted murder, 中国体彩官方app invasion and robbery, all with a deadly weapon. She and her deceased accomplice were found to possess extensive criminal records, although relatively little punishment. Thanks to the actions of Jesus, the Velador family survived their hellish 中国体彩官方app-invasion.

There’s a lot to be learned from this chaotic self-defense situation: Never allow a door to be opened for a stranger. Have a weapon at the ready. Criminals may stick to their goals even when the stuffing has hit the fan. Pistols are not guaranteed stoppers. When you can, go for the long-gun. Follow the cops’ commands immediately. And when the criminals break off their attack and are no longer a threat, for dog’s sake, let them go. All that being said, we unreservedly commend Sanchez for his actions which saved the four other members of his family.

Man Shoots Grandma and Pays for It

Tuesday morning when he got into an argument with her. The argument became heated and Coleman shot his grandmother in the leg causing her to crash her car into a telephone pole. Hearing the crash, Steve Sellers, a former Mecklenburg County prosecutor, came out to investigate.

He saw Coleman still holding the gun on his grandmother. Sellers told Coleman to drop the firearm and when Coleman didn’t, shot him. Both Coleman and his grandmother were taken to Carolinas Medical Center where Coleman later died. His grandmother is expected to recover.

While the case is being reviewed by the Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Office, North Carolina law allows you to intervene if someone’s life is being threatened.

Alabama 中国体彩官方app Invasion Goes Bad….For The 中国体彩官方app Invaders

on Monday afternoon. This awoke the tenant who was sleeping in his second-floor apartment. Fortunately, he was able to arm himself with a handgun. The would-be victim shot one of the alleged burglars, and both suspects ran out of the apartment and jumped over the second floor railing trying to flee the scene.

Courtney Campbell, 24, died of his wounds in the parking lot of the complex. His accomplice, Marcus McCall, 25, broke several bones in his jump but was still able to drive away. The tenant immediately called police with a description of McCall and the getaway car. They stopped him less than a mile away. for his injuries at a local hospital.

McCall is charged with 1st Degree Burglary as well as Felony Murder. The murder charge comes because his accomplice died in the commission of the crime.

. Alabama’s “stand your ground” law allows people to use deadly force against a burglar who is about to use deadly physical force. The head of the Tuscaloosa Homicide Unit said that both Campbell and McCall were armed and had covered their faces with a bandanna and a hoodie. He also also said the tenant appears to have known one of the 中国体彩官方app invaders.

Rob, do you have any new posts you want to mention?

Last week I wrote an article about the fantasy of gun control. I said gun control advocates were crazy. This week I wrote about the reality of gun control and said gun control advocates were liars. The article is titled “” I also reposted articles by Kurt Hofmann and Russell Smith. I recommend them.

My next article is about this golden age of self-defense instruction, and I’d like to thank Kathy Jackson for the sanity check, and thank Mark Richardson at the NRA for the statistics. You can find my articles at Ammoland, at Clash Daily, and on my blog at Slowfacts dot wordpress dot com.

John do you want to mention anything off of your blog, you would like to talk about?

We have talked about the efforts to recall NJ Senate President Stephen Sweeney a number of times. As with most stories relating to gun control, they had to have a comment from the gun prohibitionists for “balance”. I think the guy that they quoted, Bryan Miller of Ceasefire NJ, must have had the taste of sour grapes in his mouth. He said that having 200 people at the NJ2AS event wasn’t “an impressive number”. Actually, I think he was jealous because the gun grabbers never get that many people at their events even when they pay them and bus them in.

Seg 1- Personal news from each participant

John – Last weekend, I went to a family reunion. I got to see cousins whom I hadn’t seen in 30 years or more. Afterwards, we took time to visit the cemetery in which my dad and my grandparents were buried. Being this is Memorial Day weekend, I want to recognize those who served our country中国体彩官方app and died in its service. I think it is important to remember these men and women. My dad didn’t die while on active duty but did have to take a medical retirement due to non-combat health issues. I do think he had a reduced life span due to the stresses of his service as have many other veterans.

On the firearms front, I added a to the collection thanks to Ken S., a fellow NC gunny, I met through Facebook. The FR-8 is a Mauser 98 design adopted by Spain in the 1950s. Given they didn’t have enough CETME auto rifles, some Spanish soldiers were issued these rifles which had some of the same features as the CETME including being in the 7.62 Nato caliber.

Gary- Shot the AR and the Para with no malfunctions.

Rob– It has been a while. It is good to hear you again. I shot the chiappa rhino revolver when I was down in Louisiana. I bought and shot the Browning 1911-22 for my students with small hands. (use of external safties) Competed in two IDPA matches. One with my 1911 and the second with my Glock 19. That was fun and I learned a lot. John, I added the slightly extended magazine release and slide release to my 19. I like the combat sights. Thank you for those suggestions.

Got my concealed carry permit from Arizona. I also had two awards at a dinner we had with the San Diego Chapter of Gun Owners of California. One was a service award. They also had a shooting simulator at the banquet. I won a T-shirt for having the best time that hour. In fact I was the third or fourth fastest shooter competing, but sometimes it pays to be lucky and shoot after the rush.

I was on Lock and Load Radio with Bill Frady. I’ll be on his show again next Friday to talk about one of my blog articles. I also finished a book by gun blogger Jim Curtis. I finished the first book in his Grey Man series.

Susan- Didn’t take the Beyond Concealed Carry class, but got to meet Bob and Ben and went to dinner. Getting ready for the renaissance festival.

Paul – Took the Beyond Concealed Carry enhanced class. Had a great time and and learned a bunch. I want to thank Bob Mayne and Ben Branam for coming up and teaching and everyone who attended. (I want to talk a little point shooting here.)

Seg 2- News

-A federal judge said Washington DC is again breaking the law. A year ago DC was told its laws denying concealed carry were unconstitutional. Then the city passed permit regulations that were so restrictive only one person in four thousand would be granted a concealed carry permit. Judge Frederick J. Scullin Junior said that was probably illegal and issued an injunction against DC’s regulations. Quoting Judge Scullin,

“The District of Columbia’s arbitrary ‘good reason’/’proper reason’ requirement.. goes far beyond establishing.. reasonable restrictions. Rather, for all intents and purposes, this requirement makes it impossible for the overwhelming majority of law-abiding citizens to obtain licenses to carry handguns in public for self-defense, thereby depriving them of their Second Amendment right to bear arms.” End quote

It is unusual for a judge to issue a preliminary injunction. The case isn’t out of court yet, but it is a small step towards recognizing the right of self-defense for DC citizens.. and for visitors to DC.

“It’s not a huge impact for us. We haven’t had a huge number of applicants,” Chief said during an interview Tuesday on NewsTalk with Bruce Depuyt. “Our residents have been pretty clear this is not something that they wanted. A very small number of D.C. residents have applied for concealed carry.”

Rob- people are the same.

-Besides hearing cases for the district of columbia, Judge Scullin hears cases for the northern district of New York. Before he became a lawyer and a judge, Judge Scullin served active duty with the United States Army as a paratrooper, airborne ranger, and as an infantry commander with the 173rd Airborne Brigade in the Republic of Vietnam. What do you think Judge Scullin might do to the New York SAFE act and the concealed carry laws in New York City?

-We have another court case to talk about. The US Supreme Court in an unanimous decision said someone convicted of a crime may sell their guns to a third party so long as the accused never takes possession or control of the firearms. The case started when a border patrol agent was convicted of smuggling drugs. The FBI seized the agents guns, and then refused to sell them to a third party. The court said the FBI acted illegally and that they must release the firearms for sale or transfer. I guess some parts of the government have to obey the law after all.

-We received news that United Parcel Service recently changed its policies. UPS will no longer ship silencers.. even to FFL licensees. This has always struck me as bizarre. The US outlaws the same mufflers that are required for hunting in other countries. We restrict mufflers that are sold over the counter in Europe. Until our government comes to its senses, check how you ship your silencers.

-We’ve seen some state legislatures pass new firearms restrictions. That is why we have to ask if background checks work at all? Last week was national law enforcement week. Of all the officers shot and killed last year, half of them were shot by felons who were prohibited from having a firearm. The criminals used stolen guns so the thugs never went through a background check. Criminals simply don’t obey the law. If background checks don’t stop criminals, then who is inconvenienced and perhaps deterred from buying a firearm? Gun laws only inconvenience honest gun owners. Is that failure a flaw in the law.. or is it a feature that was designed in from the start?

Gary- I can hear it now. Some fool is saying we should pass a law requiring criminals to obey the law.

Rob- The anti-rights politicians want to leave my family at risk so that crime pays.. and then the politicians want the police to fight crime.

-We have another story about a proposed gun law that won’t work. New Jersey Representative Bonnie Watson Coleman is 70 years old. She is a Democrat and was elected last year. She introduced a bill in congress to restrict the sale of ammunition online. The bill requires you to buy ammunition from federally licensed ammunition dealers. It requires these dealers to confirm the identify of their customers with a photo identification. It also requires the dealers to tell the US attorney general if anyone purchases more than 1,000 rounds within five consecutive days.

Rob- I typically order large lots of ammunition to reduce their shipping costs. Do I become a terrorist of the month?

This bill will do nothing to stop crime or terrorism. A terrorist can simply buy 100 rounds a day for days on end.. or buy from several different distributors. In addition, our borders are wide open and millions of people and millions of pounds of drugs cross the border each year. Smuggling ammunition to criminals would never be noticed. Congresswoman Coleman’s bill has not chance of passage, but it will earn her campaign dollars from Bloomberg.

Rob- Could Obama impose this with an executive order?

Break – I want to run the GRNC audio here Let’s talk a bit about it before we run it.

Democrats Urge Background Checks on All Guns Sold At Gun Shows

Some of Bloomberg’s other useful idiots have reintroduced the . This old bill once again claims to close the nonexistent gun show loophole by requiring background checks on all gun purchases. However, this bill hides a devious twist: it requires the transfer to be reported to the US Attorney General. That’s the office once controlled by Eric Holder, now under Loretta Lynch, that has become one of the most politicized and lawless of the federal government.

This bill, like the Jersey Democrat’s bill to, is part of the push by anti-gun Democrats to identify the armed citizen. The reasons behind their efforts must be chilling for those that still believe in the Bill of Rights. Please contact your Representative and urge a no vote on this insanity.

John – I’m ashamed to say Carolyn Maloney is a NC native.

-Our friend Jeff Knox pointed out that the impossible has happened. The media tells us that gun owners are both dangerous AND impotent. We’re called dangerous gun nuts who could kill hundreds of people. We’re also told that a citizen with a discretely carried handgun is powerless to stop a violent criminal or terrorist. Jeff points out where the impossible happens time and again. It happened in Garland, and , and at the . It IS possible to stop violent criminals, stop terrorists and stop deranged individuals bent on hurting innocent people. That is to meet the attacker with deadly force. While a handgun is not the best option in a pitched gun battle, there’s an old saying that the best gun in a gunfight is the one you have, because the gun you don’t have is not going to do you any good. Jeff’s article is up at World Net Daily. The link is in our show notes.

-Some of the media understands firearms. Author Katie Pavlich writes at Town Hall. Katie reports on a very liberal Texas woman who bought a gun. The Texas lady made her choice to own a gun because of two factors: Personal security and fun. The liberal Texan had five burglaries at her 中国体彩官方app. The break ins cost more than money; they stole her piece of mind. To quote her, I would wake each time a squirrel ran the perimeter of my backyard fence, convinced someone was coming for me. My dreams were all of victimization, or revenge. Close quote.

Then she bought a gun, and everything changed. First, she was shamed by her fellow liberals when they found out she was a gun owner. Second, she also felt safe living in her 中国体彩官方app again. The gun resting on her nightstand became her sleep aid. We could have told her, but I glad she learned before she was injured.

Gary- This is the power of taking someone shooting. Their own experience pushes away the media myths.

Rob- I’m interested that her liberal tolerant friends wouldn’t tolerate her owning a gun.

Feral Youth

A Brooklyn McDonald’s was the scene of an that is unfortunately becoming too common. A pack of youths turned on a man trying to break up a fight between two girls. To shouts of KILL HIM!, twenty to forty school-aged teens beat and kicked the man, putting him into the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Several McDonald’s employees and another man were also assaulted. The attack was recorded by a boy shouting “Kill him right now!” and laughing. He posted the scene on Facebook, where it went viral.

No arrests have been made. Community activists are, of course, appalled, as required by their trade. A Brooklyn mother said she’s disgusted and scared for her children. “To see something like that … it’s scary.”

It is scary – especially to someone who may be faced with a pack of these feral youths. Be aware, plan ahead – and avoid places where these types of kids congregate.

-Here is some good news from Oklahoma. The legislature recently passed a law allowing trained school staff to carry on campus. The bill’s sponsor was Representative Jeff Coody. He said, “..the thinking has always been that if we eliminate guns, it makes it a safer place. The only problem is you cannot eliminate those (people) who are not willing to comply with the law. A gun-free zone is a target(…), a soft target.” Representative Coody’s bill was supported by the Professional Oklahoma Educators. These educators said the bill quote “(gives) options to school districts to protect their students. We cannot play games anymore. These are the lives of our children.” close quote. The bill passed in the Oklahoma Senate by a vote of and it passed the House by a vote of

Rob- That is great news because of the reason they passed the bill.

Paul- It sounds like Oklahoma is catching up with Arkansas, Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Mississippi, Oregon, Utah, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

-There is more good news from Minnesota. Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton signed several pro-rights bills into law. At first the governor threatened not to sign these bills. These bills had bipartisan support and the governor signed them.

  • Minnesota now recognizes concealed carry permits from several other states. It now has reciprocity with 15 other states up from only 4 states. That includes North Dakota citizens with a class-one permit.
  • They legalized firearms mufflers so gun owners can both own mufflers and use them for hunting or sport shooting.
  • They allow carry permit holders to bring handguns into the state Capitol area without requesting permission in advance. In this case the Capital included a ten block by ten block area, but not anymore.
  • These new laws restricted the government’s ability to seize firearms from the public after a state emergency is declared. This limits the ability of the police to seize firearms unless the person is arrested … and an arrest requires probable cause.
  • They allowed the purchase of long guns from any state.

Congratulations to Minnesota gun owners and the MInnesota Gun Owners Civil Rights Alliance. Well done.

-A similar law passed last week in Florida. Florida Governor Rick Scott signed a bill allowing Florida residents to carry concealed firearms –without a permit– during an emergency evacuation. This permitless carry lasts for 48 hours. The 48-hour period may be extended per the governor.

-Laws matter. Chicago politicians created gun-free zones. Chicago politicians created drug prohibition. Chicago politicians crushed industry with high taxes and regulations. That is a well known recipe for disaster. 49 people were shot last weekend in Chicago. I’m sorry.

-We have two more judicial rulings to report. The first said that legal open carry is not probable cause for a police officer to make an arrest. The Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that open carry is not justification for an officer to stop, arrest, identify and question an individual. The judge went further. He said that the officer’s qualified immunity did not extend to detaining an individual who was lawfully open carrying a firearm. That means officers can be sued and they are personally liable for court costs and damages. That decision, if it stands, would put some teeth into the law protecting firearms owners.

-Listener Anthony Lucafo emailed us the link for . A 5th grader is in a bit of trouble in his New Jersey public school. It seems that he brought some ammunition to school. Ammunition for a NERF gun. While pulling a late slip out of his pocket a foam projectile designed to be fired from a Nerf gun fell to the floor in front of a teacher. This violated the school’s zero tolerance policy for weapons. However as the late Billy Mays would say “but wait theres more!” our young nerf gunslinger had MODIFIED the ammunition! Our young nerf marksman had stuck a toothpick into the round so that it would stick when he fired the round towards the ground! That made the nerf ammo now a “self contained weapon” by the school’s definition. Of course the school immediately moved to expel the obviously dangerous young man, but eventually decided that a 5 day in-school suspension would suffice along with a mark on the student’s “permanent record”

Paul – zero tolerance means zero intelligence. It is the single most lazy way to administrate any group.

-Let’s end the news on a positive note. A New Jersey Appellate court ruled that cities in New Jersey may not require added forms from firearm applicants beyond the forms that the state requires. This is the third such decision from the New Jersey appellate court. I hope we can now prosecute government officials who unlawfully harass New Jersey firearms applicants with additional paperwork.

Rachel Malone– Licensed open carry passed in both the Texas House and Texas Senate. Then the senate passed the house bill. This was the bill Rachel was working on for the last four years. The Senate passed an amendment so open carry is not probable cause. One concern was racial profiling of open carriers.

Does it include a provision that removes qualified immunity if a police officer arrests someone who is openly carrying?

This open carry bill may require confirmation in the Texas House.

Thank Don Huffines. Tell him we have his back.

The bill would take effect 1 Jan 2016.

Some Senators will take credit, but will deny they let the bill sit.

They will claim that open carry barely passed, so constitutional carry is out of reach. We’ll bring constitutional carry when the legislature meets again in two years.

Rachel has been working with her younger brothers and 中国体彩官方appschooling them. She has been busy with 40 hours of music rehearsal. Summer break starts in a few weeks.

Rachel missed the zombie run. She hopes to run it in the fall.

So You Woke Up Stupid This Morning?

“Honestly: That is one less guy I got to worry about bothering my mom when she’s out grocery shopping,” That’s how an Atlanta resident summed up his to stop a robbery. He had pulled into a store’s parking space when a scruffy 61-year-old man slipped into the passenger seat and announced the car-jacking. The victim pulled his firearm and held the perp facedown on the asphalt until the police arrived, all the while laying down a line of smack talk. Our favorite: “So you woke up stupid this morning?” When police arrived, you can see the victim wave them over and put his gun down. The police officer shakes his hand before slapping the cuffs on the suspect.

This textbook, and stylish, DGU was recorded on several cell phones; it’s the 21st Century after all. We add our commendations to this everyday hero – he’s a good son.

Armed robber and wished concealed carrier a good day.

-A 49 year old concealed carrier had finished his dialysis appointment at a doctor’s office and was on his way to his car. A young man came out of the woods near the clarkston michigan doctors office carrying a revolver and demanded the concealed carrier’s wallet. at this point the concealed carrier drew his own gun and asked the 20 year old hispanic male “do you really want to do this?” The would be armed robber told his intended victim to “have a nice day”, then turned and ran back into the woods.

-A Pennsylvania woman was abducted and assaulted by her ex-boyfriend for over 20 hours. The woman escaped and ran outside at about 10 in the morning. Fortunately, neighbors heard the victim scream when she was attacked again in her backyard. Rather than simply be a good witness, one neighbor grabbed his handgun and stopped the attack. Neighbors moved the victim to the front yard to wait for an ambulance. The attacker was held at gunpoint until police arrived. The attacker was charged with Criminal Trespass, burglary, and Attempted Homicide. The gun owner said he would do the same thing again in a heartbeat with no second thoughts and no reservations. He has his concealed carry permit.

-A man broke into a Memphis 中国体彩官方app at two in the morning. The family woke up when they heard breaking glass. The 中国体彩官方appowner grabbed his gun. When he found the intruder standing inside his 中国体彩官方app, the 中国体彩官方appowner shot the intruder in the head. The intruder was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Police have not filed any charges against the 中国体彩官方appowner.

-We’ve all heard the joke about criminals failing the victim selection process. Well this is one of those stories. Two men tried his carjack a doctor in Jackson, Mississippi. The doctor was getting ready to attend a shooting competition and was loading up his truck. The doctor was taken by surprise. He was ordered at gunpoint to drive to a nearby bank and withdraw some cash. The doctor complied, but was able to grab one of his handguns. He shot and killed one of his attackers. The other attacker fled on foot. The shooter had the presence of mind to neither pursue a fleeing criminal nor shoot him as he fled.

Another Triumph For California’s Legal System

What can you say to a Redding, California woman who was forced to against a likely armed sex offender, freshly paroled from a weapons charge, wearing a GPS bracelet, probably high on an illegal substance, who had just escaped from deputies holding him at gunpoint? You can only shake your head at the awesome effectiveness of the California legal system.

Parolee Dillon Carmelo escaped deputies by reaching into his clothing as if he was going for a gun and fleeing into the neighborhood’s backyards. The deputies informed those nearby of the dangerous felon on the loose. Against the advice of California’s elite, resident Jennifer Doolittle armed herself and went into the backyard to get her dogs inside. There, she was confronted by Carmelo, who popped over a fence and moved toward her acting as if he was reaching for a weapon.

Doolittle fired several times, striking Carmelo and stopping the attack. Carmelo continued to struggle until subdued by a Sheriff’s K-9. It is not known at this time if the woman will be charged. A civil suit is almost a certainty.

Several of the Polite Society’s staff can attest to California’s collapsing catch-and-release legal system. It’s why we urge every citizen to be armed, trained and aware. It’s also a big part of why California wants desperately to disarm it’s citizens.

Don’t torque off the old guy part 1
A 77 year old 中国体彩官方appowner was in the shower recently when he heard strange noises. He got out of the shower to see what was going on and came face to face with 2 burglars. Apparently our guud guy had a handgun close to him in the shower as he exchanged gunfire with the burglars killing one and the other was sent to the hospital, but the condition of the second bad guy wasn’t known. One boy next door became concerned and called his father. The youngster told his dad that there were police everywhere and he had locked himself in the house. Another neighbor told reporters that she had recently been a victim of a burglary and had lost $80,000 in jewelry. The neighbor said of the 中国体彩官方appowner who defended himself “I think he’s 100 percent correct,They went to burglarize his house. And it’s not the first time he was burglarized.”

Don’t Torque-Off the Old Guys (Plural/ Nonsexist) part 2

Once again, we bring you a Tale of the Old Guys. Showing that it’s important to work together in a marriage as well as in a self defense situation, a couple of retirees successfully fought off two armed attacker at their Thomaston, Georgia 中国体彩官方app. Only a month before they had endured a 中国体彩官方app-invasion where they were tied-up and robbed at gunpoint. It seems that assault only made them mad — and ready for the next attack.

When the wife opened the garage door in the morning, the same two suspects ran at her from the nearby woods, waiving handguns. The Old Gal drew her own gun and whistled a couple of rounds at the suspects. The Old Guy ran to the porch and added his own fire against the suddenly unenthusiastic robbers, who reversed course with all due haste.

Kashif Mohammad, 20, and Daitrelle Saffo, 21, were arrested exiting the woods. They are facing a slew of felony charges, including Armed Robbery and Kidnapping. It is certain they’ll remember one critically important lesson: Don’t Torque-Off the Old Guy — and Gal.

Listener e-mail discussion No email this week, but I ran across this story that is somewhat related to our struggle. What if you called 911 and no one came AT ALL?

A truck driver is involved in a sideswipe accident. gets the truck under control and rolls to a stop almost a mile down the road. He calls 911 and reports the incident and complains of heart attack like symptoms No one responded to his 911 call. Nine hours later he is found by a driver that works for the same company.

-Also before we go to blog posts I want to encourage our listeners to call their Senators and DEMAND that they let the current version of the so-called patriot act die. The current funding for Big Brother is listening is ending at the end of this month and RINO Mitch Mcconnell is fighting hard for reauthorization. There has never been any evidence that any of this debacle has helped to apprehend 1 single terrorist, or jaywalker for that manner. It is time for it to go call (202) 224-3121, you don’t even have to know who your senators are, just the state you live in. (if you don’t know your state might we suggest that you live in the state of confusion and you can see the doc for meds for that.)

Rob, do you have any new posts you want to mention?

1- I talked about the twenty thousand gun laws that don’t work, and why Politicians want to write more of them. Politicians sell themselves in the media as in order to get campaign cash.

2- Gary, you had your mom on the show. She and Doris Montrose inspired me to write an article. Supporting the right of armed self-defense is not a black and white issue. You don’t jump from hating every gun owner to lobbying for firearms rights. I counted about twenty steps in between. Changing someone’s mind is moving them by one small step.. but first you have to listen to them to know what they believe.

The articles are up at Clash Daily, Ammoland and at slowfacts dot wordpress dot com.

John do you want to mention anything off of your blog you would like to talk about?

Since the last show, the issue of ridding North Carolina of our pistol purchase permit system has started to attract a lot of attention. The gun prohibitionists along with the NC Sheriffs Association are fighting to keep the law. Bloomberg is funding a media campaign to keep the law. I wrote a somewhat provocative post entitled, There is no question that the law mandating pistol permits was drafted with the intent to keep African-Americans unarmed and subservient to the white, segregationist Democrat power structure of NC. My conclusion is that supporting a law based upon such heinous intent does make you at least a little bit racist.

Rob: and hang on!
Paul: Episode 250 of the Polite Society Podcast starts right now.
Show intro music.

Seg 1- Personal news from each participant
Rob- Dry practice with my SIRT pistol and handgun on Independence day.

John – We had family in town from Missouri yesterday and we all enjoyed the various displays of fireworks. They also brought me a T-Shirt from the MO Univ of Sci & Tech where my nephew is think of attending. The shirt said, “My mascot carries a gun” on the front and “Does Yours?” on the back. The school’s mascot is an old miner with a six-gun on his hip. I love it!

Paul – We have brought up our dog Dakota several times on the show. This week she left us. On the day she left us Dakota was 14 1/2 years old exactly. Is seems to me that one of the cruel tricks that is played on us by God, or Mother nature, or w中国体彩官方appver you believe in is that while humans have a lifespan that lasts 75 years or so our companions have life spans that are about 1/5 of that. I got 中国体彩官方app this morning and we got a call from the Veterinarian’s office saying that her ashes were back, and we brought her 中国体彩官方app.

Those that have had a 4 legged family member know the pain that Susan and I are going through. Dakota came to be a part of our family when she was 6 month’s old. She had been abused by her prior owner, and it took a lot of work for her to trust men, but after several months and a ton of love she finally trusted me and eventually she became comfortable around all adult males.
Like any canine family member Dakota took it on herself to be the family’s guardian, confidant, and occasionally troublemaker. She gave so much and all she ever wanted or expected in return was our love and attention. Those 2 things we poured on her. She was always our “Puppy” and “our baby girl” If you ever want to know what unconditional love is just get a pet like our little puppy. It didn’t matter what kind of day you were having, or if something wasn’t going right, or if she wasn’t feeling the best, we were the very focus of her entire existence always.

I posted that we lost Dakota on facebook Tuesday stating something to the effect that if I earned a spot in heaven and our Dakota was not there I would move along and find her because if she wasn’t good enough for heaven than I definitely had no place there. Thank you to everyone who replied offering kind words. There are 2 that I would like to bring up specifically. First Ben Cook said “If my animal friends are not in heaven, I’ll be sure to leave a trail to where I find them so that you can find us all there

Second there were several references to a poem called the rainbow bridge. If you all would indulge me I would like to read this short poem

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. Her bright eyes are intent; Her eager body quivers. Suddenly she begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, her legs carrying her faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together….

Seg 2- News

John 1- Gun-rights advocates won another victory in Chicago. The original lawsuit was filed in 2010 by an Illinois offshoot of the National Shooting Sports Foundation. That battle isn’t over. Richard Pearson, executive director of the Illinois State Rifle Association, anticipates a legal challenge to the city’s new rules regulating gun stores out of 99.5 percent of the city. He said, “The ordinance is prohibitive. If you look at the hidden costs of opening a gun store, I don’t know how a person could make a living selling firearms in the city of Chicago.”

Rob 2- There was another victory for the right to choose armed self-defense. This allows adult students to attend school and remain armed when they work those late night jobs. Contrary to the public claims of school administrators, negligent discharges remain extremely rare. This is another small step toward self-protection in Florida.

John 3- A Kansas open carry bill went into effect on Tuesday. Captain Rance Quinn of the Kansas City Police Department said they will still respond to calls of man with a gun, but the department will change how they handle the encounter. Quote “…How are you doing today. I see that you are exercising your right to bear firearms. Is there anything I can do for you today?”

Rob Comment- Why yes, officer. May I buy you a cup of coffee while we talk about your department sponsoring more firearms training for the general public?

Rob 4- The attention seeking anti-gun Virginia State Delegate, Joe Morrissey, once carried an AK-47 onto the Virginia statehouse floor. A special grand jury charged the Virginia politician with supervisory indecent liberties with a minor, electronic solicitation of a minor, possession of child pornography, distribution of child pornography and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Comment- He was only following Bill Clinton’s example.

John – This is the same Joe Morrissey who as the State’s Atty for Richmond was disbarred for among other things, fist fights in the courtroom. Why is that anti-gun activists are so violent?

John 5- Here is a good example from law enforcement, and from a small police department at that. Police Chief Michael Combs found out there were no firearms safety courses offered in the county, so The department will host a classroom and firing range sessions at the Goodwill Fire 中国体彩官方app on July 19th. Pennsylvania is a shall-issue state and there are no training requirement for ownership or a carry license. I think the Chief’s decision makes citizens safer!

Rob Comment- Thank you, Chief Combs.

Rob 6- Some gun-grabbing activist groups tell you that real women want to be helpless. Not me. I’ll remind you that the number of women who own guns has been rising rapidly. Those guns are not gathering dust. A growing number of women are at the range and taking classes. Women are on the cutting edge of self-defense. I offer as example of the students I see and the students of our frequent guest Kathy Jackson.

Rob- There is a list of women’s gun groups on my blog site

John 7- We’re not sure if it was on purpose or an accident. On the first of July, a poorly written law in Mississippi exempted disabled military veterans from paying some hunting and registration fees. Unfortunately, the law it required veteran submit to a disability review by the Veterans Administration. Many veterans will decline that opportunity, thank you. It isn’t clear how the bill will be implemented by law enforcement. Gun owners need a strong state organization that takes a critical look at legislation. This legislation may have taken Mississippi back to “may issue” status.

Paul 8- This probably wasn’t the answer they were looking for. asking, “Do you think people should be allowed to carry guns in public?” 84 thousand people answered. 88% chose “Yes! The Second Amendment guarantees the right to carry in pubic. Another 4% chose “Only for self-defense.” and 8 percent said carrying a gun is too dangerous.

John Comment- I didn’t know MSNBC had 84 thousand viewers.

John 9- Because of changes in the Georgia gun laws, while at church. An Episcopal bishop in Georgia said he will forbid concealed carry in church. Other congregations have accepted concealed carry. Pastor Tom Rush said, “Quite frankly, we may have some people in our church that are uncomfortable with the idea… You know, I grew up in a day when we left the sanctuary doors open so people could come in at any time and pray. Unfortunately, we don’t live in those days anymore.”

This is part of a larger social trend of our culture splitting into isolated tribes. Honest gun owners have had to choose which stores to enter based on the store’s no-guns policy. Now that decision includes churches as well.

Rob- This issue isn’t confined to Georgia. I live in California. Last year a nearby church took an anti-self-defense petition to a city council. The church’s public statements sounded inclusive, but their claims were wildly inaccurate. I asked to speak with the church committee but they ignored me and never returned my calls.

Rob 10- The bill requires police to proactively confiscate firearms and hold them for one year with no due process based solely on an accusation made by an immediate family member, a law enforcement officer or any health professional.

The person filing the complaint only has to believe quote “the gun owner poses a significant risk of personal injury to himself, herself, or another by having under his or her custody and control, owning, purchasing, possessing, or receiving a firearm.” close quote. One anti-gun doctor could declare all California gun owners mentally unfit.

John Comment- so will every vindictive divorce lawyer.

Rob Comment- We commented last week on California’s failing grades for mental health treatment. They aren’t doing any better this week.

Paul Gun Quotes- The American Revolution was a beginning, not a consummation, said by President Woodrow Wilson.

Hang on everybody, we’ll be right back after this

Seg 3 Interview with Kathy Jackson and Frank Fiamingo

Questions for Frank
Frank, earlier this week Governor Christie vetoed the magazine capacity bill that was on his desk, could you talk a little bit about that?

Are there any other bills related to gun rights that are still on his desk?
Why are gun owners blamed for violence?
Politicians want a soundbite solution.

What else is going on with the NJ2AS?

Questions for Kathy

Thanks for coming on Kathy, It’s been a while since we were able to have you on for a long form interview and I am so happy that we found a hole in your schedule so that you could join us tonight! I would like to discuss a few of the more recent blog posts. The first one that I would really like to cover is one you titled “Strength and Weakness” where you talk about a the recent Miss USA pageant winner and her take on self defense, in reference to a Larry Correa post. Could you talk a little bit about that?

Another post that I really liked was one of your shorter posts from late May entitled “He Didn’t Deserve That” One unfortunate side effect of our society is that everyone seems to be suing for everything. I thought that this post was quite illuminating in that it seems to have spread to some sectors of public opinion. Could you talk a little bit about that post?

Rob- Kathy, in one of your posts you said You’re never disarmed. “Your ultimate resource for self-defense are the things you carry inside yourself.” Would you tell our listeners more about that?

Guns and alcohol?

Normalcy bias- When someone chokes we want permission to help.

Rob 1- Two young men walked into Marlene’s jewelry store in Fresno, California. The two men looked at the display cases and slowly moved towards the cash register in the back of the store. That is where one of the thieves pulled out a gun and pointed it at one of the store employees while demanding cash and jewelry. . The unarmed thief yelled “shoot them” as he dropped and ran towards the door, but the armed thief turned and followed his cowardly compatriot. Both young thieves were caught on video and are very lucky to be alive.

Paul 2- Thieves tried to steal a vehicle parked in front of a 中国体彩官方app in Wasilla, Alaska. When that failed, they tried to force their way inside the 中国体彩官方app through the kitchen door. She missed, but the criminals turned and ran. They were long gone by the time state troopers arrived.

Citizens are the first responders, either as witnesses or as victims.

John – comment – if the 中国体彩官方appowner was a few years older, I might have guessed it was my first cousin Ginny who lives in Wasilla!

John 3- This man is my hero. A Centralia, Washington man and his girlfriend were sitting in their living room when a 中国体彩官方appless 43-year-old stranger entered their 中国体彩官方app armed with a knife. The 中国体彩官方appowner grabbed his shotgun and ordered the intruder out of the house. They both walked outside, but instead of leaving, the intruder pushed the 中国体彩官方appowner down a flight of stairs on the back porch. The intruder then grabbed a machete sitting on the porch and approached the 中国体彩官方appowner. Rather than shooting his attacker, d and holding him there until the police arrived. The 中国体彩官方appowner preserved the life of a drug addled man. Sheriff Steve Mansfield said. “This is another example of why citizens need to take all possible precautions and be prepared if something like this occurs.”

Do you have that much restraint after getting pushed down the stairs?

Rob 4- Well your hero has some competition. My hero is Orlandous Brown who suffers from cerebral palsy and needs a wheelchair. Orlandous came 中国体彩官方app Thursday morning in the company of his friend Latisha Vernon and Latisha’s 17-year-old daughter. That is when he discovered that someone was already inside his Easly, South Carolina 中国体彩官方app and was robbing the place. The thief was armed, but so was Orlandous. Latisha and her daughter fled the 中国体彩官方app and called 911. Deputies moved the women a safe distance away, and entered the 中国体彩官方app a few minutes later.

Orlandous was transported by ambulance to the local hospital where he underwent surgery and is expected to make a full recovery. Police believe Orlandous may have been targeted because he is disabled and the dead intruder thought he was an easy target.

Comment- The thief thought wrong.

Paul 5- There is no way and no reason to pretty this up. Gun control kills. . The murderers told the couple to kneel. They shot 17-year-old Cheyanne Bond in the head execution style. Her boyfriend survived. The money Bond’s family had set aside for the teenager’s tuition at nursing school will go toward her funeral. The crime rate in New Jersey has exploded since gun-prohibition was enacted in the late 1960s. Now, long time politician and anti-gun Newark Mayor Ras Baraka has the murder rate he worked for.

A convenience store owner was shot during a robbery on Nov. 11 in Bassfield, Mississippi, but then turned the tables and opened fire on the robber shooting him at least 10 times. It was in the early morning hours when the suspect, armed with a gun, walked into the Get and Go convenience store and demanded the clerk hand over the store’s cash, . But before the clerk could collect all of the cash, the robber shot the clerk in the leg. The suspect then left the store, but apparently got greedy and decided to return moments later to grab the rest of the cash left behind.

The clerk had retrieved his own 9mm handgun as the suspect left, and when the robber walked back inside, the clerk opened fire. When officers arrived, the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. According to Jefferson David County Coroner Jimmy Slater, the suspect, identified as 35-year-old LeRobert Young of Bassfield, The store clerk was transported to a local hospital where he underwent surgery and is expected to make a full recovery. Paul and Rob,

Listening to episode 187, your talk about private schools having rules about no guns allowed and their liability got me doing some searching. I thought you would like to see the policy that General Motors has in place for all their facilities. This applies to anyone onsite (employees, contract workers, suppliers, even UAW) despite the fact that not everyone has access to, or is given, this policy to read it.

IX. Sub-Policy GS1.3 – Security

The Security Section of the General Motors Global Security Manual defines and describes the

security requirements for all General Motors locations.

C. Guns, Dangerous Devices and Other Weapons

In support of the General Motors Workplace Violence Prevention policy, General Motors will not tolerate the possession of guns, dangerous devices, or other weapons while on company property including company parking lots. The only exception to this policy involves security personnel carrying firearms in situations as noted in the Security Section, Chapter 1 of the General Motors Global Security Manual, law enforcement personnel and armed guards transporting money on and off the premises, or where General Motors posts or otherwise communicates a different local policy (e.g., where General Motors believes this policy conflicts with a local law). Misuse of firearms by personnel authorized to carry must be reported to security.

Though employees may legally own and carry weapons for personal reasons such as hunting or personal protection, it remains a violation of the policy to have weapons of any kind on General Motors property, even when they are kept in employees’ personal vehicles. Weapons are not allowed in company vehicles while on company property or while engaged in work-related activities. Weapons may not be carried to work-related events even if an authority having jurisdiction has issued a permit to carry or conceal the weapon. Violation of this policy will result in disciplinary action up to and including discharge.

Application of this policy does not preclude assigned drivers of company vehicles from the lawful possession of firearms in the vehicle when they are not on General Motors property or otherwise engaged in work-related activities. The term ‘dangerous devices’ includes any device, the possession of, which reflects an intent and capability of the possessor to use the device to inflict personal injury, whether under circumstances of assault or self-defense.

This not only includes martial arts devices and other objects generally recognized as being weapons, but also would include otherwise innocuous devices that are possessed in such a manner as to reflect the prohibited purpose and capability, such as, for example a tire-iron, lead pipe or baseball bat stored beneath a vehicle’s driver seat.

It is great that they say this is supposed to prevent workplace violence, but we all know it won’t. Since the security that actually walks around, at least two of, the main Detroit area campuses don’t carry guns it isn’t really going to stop anything. And with at least 2 attacks within a block of the global headquarters at the Ren Cen this year, I’m hoping that this will change. But considering my “tire thumper” is even considered a no-no to them I doubt it. My pepper spray probably isn’t even allowed since self-defense items are prohibited. Of course they won’t take responsibility if anything happens to some on premises, let alone to or from work. I almost wish something would happen to someone so they can try and sue GM for taking away their 2nd amendment rights of personal protection while travelling to and from work.

When you started talking about truck guns with Ben Branham my first thought was the .40 Glock you carry Paul. And that had me asking, how do you carry that in the truck? I can’t get comfortable with a gun on my hip when I am sitting down. I’ve tried multiple holsters (Black Mamba CE, Cross Breed Super Tuck, even a couple OWB) and switched from a double stack .40 M&P to a single stack 9mm Kahr. Driving a rig all day you must be one really tough guy.

Paul- My Glock 22 is carried in a Black Momba CE at the 2:30 to 3 o’clock position.

Rob- Jeremy, I’m as eager as you are to hear how Paul does it. I’m in San Diego where the military went to drop-leg holsters for two reasons. First, the mechanized infantry had problems sitting down while carrying a sidearm, and second they had trouble with standard holsters while wearing body armor. It is hard for civilians to wear a drop-leg holster and call it concealed.

For Rob, here are a couple of local gun groups I belong to. So you can stop the whining. J

Michigan Gun Owners (MGO)

Michigan Coalition for Responsible Gun Owners (MCRGO)

Rob- Jeremy, we will add both your Michigan groups to our close-of-show shoutouts. MGO and MCRGO go to the head of the line!

Keep up the great work. I just downloaded the app through Amazon, but since I use Podcast Addict to listen to the show I don’t know if I will use it. But I’ll support the show none the less.

Thanks again Paul, I can’t wait for my patch to get here. I’ll be sure to post some pics up on facebook when it get here. Since I am already typing this e-mail I did have a question for any of you guys. I am looking for a holster recommendation. I have a G23 with a TLR-1 light and I am looking for an OWB holster. I have already checked with Jason Christensen a few months ago, and he did not have a Sidewinder in that setup. I have a Black Mamba, and I love it just looking for a OWB rig. Are there any other makers you guys would recommend, or should I just keep bugging Jason till he build one? Thanks for any input you can give, and for the swag.

McDonald’s and Dunkin Donuts take on Open Carry post Starbucks

Illinois wins in court
McDonald v Chicago (2010) is the 7th circuit court decision that said the state had failed to demonstrate the benefit of the states prohibition of public carry.
Moore v Madigan (2012) said the Illinois laws were unconstitutional and Illinois decided not to appeal the case to the US supreme court.
Illinois continued to drag its feet. The Illinois supreme court (2013) said that a misdemeanor battery conviction did not prevent getting a FOID card. It also reconfirmed the 7th circuit ruling that the Aggravated Unlawful Use of Weapons statute was not a reasonable regulation but with a comprehensive ban and therefore unconstitutional.
Illinois withdrew charges, and in some cases released prisoners convicted of public carry after the Illinois supreme court ruling. That is a big event because people were behind bars for exercising a constitutional right.
This is politically fascinating. The previous law was unconstitutional. There is no way to carry legally at this time. Local prosecutors said they could not charge you for carrying, but they would find some other way to harass and arrest honest citizens found carrying in public. Prosecutors are saying they own the public streets and will prosecute you anyway because they have more money and lawyers than you do. Hmm. That sounds like tyranny to me.
There are now several court decisions on both sides. One obvious example is the fourth circuit’s reversal of Woollard v Gallagher. The Palmer case in Washington D.C. has been waiting for years now. I suspect the controllists are waiting for one of the conservative members of the US Supreme Court to die so that Obama will nominate an anti-gun liberal to replace him.

Letter from William
Love you show. Here are some thoughts I’ve had listening to the last few episodes.
Re: blind and licenses
Most states allow legally blind to have driver licenses. Check it out for details. Very scary but then there are times I wish I couldn’t see what was going on around me. What’s it they say, ignorance is bliss.
For 3 gun battery.
Gun 1 – Mossberg 500; same reason
Gun 2 – 6″ barrel .357. GP100 preferred. Very rugged. Good for small game with light .38 target loads. Good for hunting med game out to 100 yards, even work for small bear if needed. Perhaps larger ones in a pinch. Good for 2 legged predators and really not that slow to reload and still conceals albeit a hit more work needed.
Gun 3 – bolt gun in .308, perhaps in scout config.
Don’t feel the need for AR class weapon because I really don’t believe it will be as dog eat dog as many think, at least in rural areas. If so I figure if 1st encounter is survived then I can do a battle field pickup.
If 4th is allowed, don’t want a gun. A 40 to 50 lb long bow with arrows. Very very quite, excellent at night – who needs sights. Nothing to repair except string and I can make one of those if needed. A recurve would be OK but not quite as quite. Forget bows with training wheels. Too noisy and prone to break. 50 lbs is plenty with proper arrow choice. Also heavier bows are harder to improvise strings and arrows if necessary.
If limited to only one, I agree with Sticks(?),10/22 for same reasons.
