1911 vs? This might convince me.

Personal news from each participant (when you are done with your segment please ask the next person what has been up with them)

Rob- Bill Frady and I talked about That was on his program. Paul Carlson, Dustin Salomon and I talked about Dustin’s books, and That conversation comes out on Paul’s podcast- There are big changes in store for the training industry. I talked with Bill Chachkes on his and we talked about politics and instruction. Jeff Street and I recorded another Episode of The Texas concealed handgun association re-published one of my articles. Hi, Mollie.

John- I worked the Grass Roots North Carolina booth at the Asheville Gun Show this past weekend. Post-Las Vegas, it looked like attendance was up slightly. Paul Valone, president of GRNC and a speaker at GRPC, was there as well. We did get a few new members signed up. As the previous gun show coordinator wanted to step aside, I volunteered to be the GRNC co-coordinator for the Asheville Gun Show.

Paul – We should have Paul Valone on again!

Amy-Just catching up after a week on the road. While at GRPC, I was on Riding Shotgun with Charlie (Charlie Cook’s YouTube channel/podcast) and we visited the spot JFK was shot. It was neat to see! After GRPC, I spent some time visiting family in Texas and spent a few days in Atlanta, GA setting up classes with a few ranges there. I’m also currently working on getting ready to launch 3-Gun Nation’s Training program.

Tracy- I just got back from Indiana, where I shot the MAG-80 class this past week. There were 17 of us in class, and I’m proud to report that I tied Mas at his own game, shooting a 300/300 on the MAG double-speed qualification, earning a signed $1 bill from the man, the myth, and the legend. This was my second time this year to earn a signed $1 from Massad Ayoob. We did lots of handgun retention and disarming in this class, which got me out of my comfort zone. I’m really looking forward to the MAG-120 this December in Live Oak, Florida, where we’ll shoot a MAG qualification at triple speed!

Belle-Helped with Level 4 Advanced Def HG, did the role player bit, one of my fave parts of training, we had 7 students pass our HG Master Test, the most I have seen in a class. Took a much needed weekend off and went hiking with the family. Took the first registrations for the PSP ASIC for next July!

John – Just a reminder that PSP patches are still available. They are $10 each or 2 for $18. For PayPal, use john@ad7.8f3.myftpupload.com. If you want to send a check, use that same email address.

2- News 1

A tool for the media surrenders

The debate is influenced by the media with fear stories. Directly after a mass shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Nevada, stories flourished. “I think the easiest way to stop mass shootings from happening in America is to take guns away from civilians,” Pring told. Jonathan Pring from London, England, is now a resident in Phoenix, running a coffee shop and driving a doubledecker bus. Despite his British roots, Pring had bought guns, but surrendered them after hearing about the 59 deceased. He turned his guns into the Phoenix Police and publicly urged others to surrender their weapons.

The original article about Pring is no longer accessible on FOX. Instead of going directly to the urgent news story, we are led in circles to access it. Other include the same stories. However, positive comments turned into negative comments. Pring received death threats after doing the ‘did the right thing’. He deleted his facebook post and left town with his family.

John – I’m sorry he got death threats. However, Mr. Pring was too used to being a subject and doesn’t realize what it means to be a citizen.

Belle- it sounds like a publicity stunt to me, but better he let them go, anyone who doesn’t want them shouldn’t have them.

Amy-publicity stunt

Rob- I’ll taking your donations and I’ll find your unwanted guns a good 中国体彩官方app.

John – Under AZ law, those guns must be sold at auction.

Paul – .380 and .22LR

Second Amendment Advocates Waves White Flag.

Life long supporters of the second amendment have their opinions and semi-auto weapons to give up on citizens rights. Caleb Keeter, the guitarist in the Josh Abbott band, changed his mind because he witnessed first hand the festival mass shooting. Keeter: ‘We couldn’t touch [the shooter] for fear the police might think we were part of the massacre and shoot us […] We need gun control RIGHT. NOW’. After Keeter turned 180 degrees, so did Ashton Kutcher, star of That 70s Show. The self-proclaimed ‘lifelong gun owner’ had once a photo of Demi Moore, his then wife, firing an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle. His recent in A Plus, admits he thinks keeping guns on this course will not change anything for the better. He wants changes for gun control.

The Tragedy in Vegas isn’t the first time that supporters have changed their minds. The Las Vegas shooting isn’t the first time that prominent second-amendment supporters have changed their minds. In 2015, the racially motivated mass-shooting in Charleston changed the mind of a conservative evangelical pastor from New Jersey. Rob Schenck, ‘The gun is almost an invitation to give into fear, and fear should not be a controlling element in the life of a Christian’. In 2012, Iraq veteran Liam Madden wrote an in Salon. He explained how the shootings in Newtown’s elementary school had completely shaken his worldview.

Amy- People forget the reason the Second Amendment exists. It’s not only about a permit holder/gun owner being able to stop crime.

Rob- I did the math. Turning in your guns might save a life, and it will cost 21. You are 21 times more likely to be killed by your government than by a criminal or mass murderer. Your children are over 5000 times more likely to be killed by their government than by a firearms accident.

Bank Treats Hero Like Robber

Authorities arrested suspected robber Nelson Jones, but continue to ask for help from the public. Malcolm Jones remains at large and might have been injured during the crime. Both men have been indicted on federal charges for illegal use of a firearm during a crime of violence. The prosecutor’s office paid $2,500 to Crime Stoppers for a reward for information. The two suspects were stopped by off duty police officer Carl Rauschenberger.

Carl worked with the Mount St. Joseph Police Department for 15 years. He has 10 years of experience with the. His employee record includes working for the Cincinnati Police Department for 28 years. However, his bravery, valor, and swift decision to protect innocent lives in a bank was not good enough for the bank. They asked him to bank elsewhere.

Gun Quotes- A man can never have too much red wine, too many books, or too much ammunition. Rudyard Kipling

Hang on everybody, we’ll be back with our guest (Name).

3- Illegal immigration-

Amy – I agree with Paul that Criminals need to be deported, If an immigrant is only here to bring crime to our country中国体彩官方app, and not adding value, they are not making a contribution to this country中国体彩官方app. I feel strongly about this because I come from a family of immigrants. My family is from the Philippines. In World War 2, my Grandfather joined the United States Navy (guerilla Filipinos fighting Japan my family

Rob- Amy, your family are a legal immigrant. There is a difference between a legal and illegal immigrant. You can’t profit by doing something illegal, so the money paid to illegals is not deductible on taxes.

John – There is a way to get workers for field work. During WWII, the US had a guest worker program. As to immigration policy, we should look North to Canada. They give preference to those with special skills or those who are willing to invest substantial money in the Canadian economy to create jobs.

Paul – Illegal immigrants DO NOT PAY Federal taxes

4- Interview 2

Kathy Jackson Holster Safety

Belle- Why do you think there is an aversion to the more traditionally “safe” holsters? What do you think has pulled folks away from the tried and true- Hard sided, leather or kydex, strongside hip, in or outside the waistband? And why are so many women or men(to a lesser degree) who say they want to CC so unwilling to modify their wardrobe? Isn’t that just a necessary sacrifice?

Amy – This is an interesting topic. Over the last few years, there has been an explosion of holsters marketed for women. What do you think of the the “ace bandage” type you were referring to now offering a “trigger guard” insert? They started doing that after receiving that same feedback you were mentioning.

Belle- aren’t all these alternate positions more suited for BUG rather than primary firearms?

5- DGUs (at beginning) Welcome中国体彩官方app back to the DGU segment of the Polite Society Podcast powered by the firearms policy coalition. These discussions are NOT legal advice. Some of us are trainers, but this is not formal training and YOU NEED formal training. The Defensive Gun Use segment is intended as information, NOT as training. As always the opinions of the hosts are only their own opinions and not those of any sponsors or other affiliations.

Cougar picked wrong RV park

John – Last week Casey’s Riverside RV park in Oregon had a cougar prowling the neighborhood. The 100 pound male mountain lion was full grown but thin. It was searching the neighborhood for the feral cats. He came around every other night in his quest for a meal.

Part of the park was mobile 中国体彩官方apps and it ventured into the backyard of the wrong 中国体彩官方app. The man who shot the cougar has parents who live there and when it came into their backyard, he shot at it. He fired 2 shots and one hit the big cat. It ran down into the trees and they tracked it to where it laid dead.

The man called the Oregon State Police. The wildlife trooper who responded did not issue any citations and took the carcass.

The Department of Fish and Wildlife spokeswoman said the shooting was allowed under state law. “The person who took the cougar was legal to do so under statutes that allow killing of cougars causing damage or public safety issues,” said Michelle Dennehy.

Belle-where did other round go?

The hazards of working at convenience stores

Amy – Jennifer Wertz didn’t feel safe working at the Circle K in Albuquerque. There has been a recent rash of robberies in the area including recently at a nearby 7-11.

Wertz was at work at the gas station when she heard about the 7-11 robbery and retrieved her gun from her car. She got nervous when a customer from the 7-11 came in and told her about the robbery. The recent rash of robberies had been going on and the Circle K had done nothing to protect her.

She was visibly displaying her gun on her hip and when an armed robber came into the station a short time after getting her gun and the decision to do so paid off.

“He was screaming, he point the gun in my face,” she said, “and I just point, cock and shoot, and protect myself.”

The 23-year-old robber ran out of the gas station and collapsed in the parking lot with critical injuries.

For Wertz, the decision to defend herself had consequences. It was a violation of company policy so she was suspended for two weeks. She quit her job and went looking for employment elsewhere.

When news of her DGU and the company’s reaction to it hit the news, a GoFundMe page was set up and raised over $70,000 for her. {I thought I had heard another store had offered her a job but I might be getting DGU’s mixed up – Dana}

Rob- I’d like to see the Circle K held liable for injuries to their disarmed clerks. The employees are insured, so ey also assume a similar liability.

Tracy – no one is making the person take the job, knowing that it is a dangerous job with a higher likelihood of getting robbed.

Amy – Is it the company’s responsibility to keep their employees safe? By not allowing them to carry, they are not giving the employees a way to defend themselves from a situation that, unfortunately, does happen in convenience stores (armed robberies).

Wrong Old Guy- Belle

We have said it before, don’t mess with the old man. Recently in Florida, a 81-year-old 中国体彩官方appowner was lying in bed when he heard someone knocking on the door and ringing the doorbell. He looked out the window and did not recognize the man so he did not open his door.

The man put on a pair of gloves and went to the back of the house.

The 中国体彩官方appowner grabbed his .22 caliber pistol when he heard a windows break and then saw the man clearing the shattered glass away.

He said he feared for his wife’s and his safety so he fired three or four shots and the would be intruder. The man then fled to his pick up and the 中国体彩官方appowner fired several more shots as the truck sped away.

Although it is not known if he hit the intruder, it is possible that he was either grazed or shot. “One time I heard him say, ‘Oh,’” the victim told the 911 operator.

The criminal was still being sought.

Paul –

Belle – Lets use a reasonable defensive cal.

Tracy – any gun is better than no gun!

Amy- Don’t try robbing the Security guy

A man was “conducting security” at the Grand Strand Baptist Church in Myrtle Beach when a man approached him and asked for change for a $20. The intended victim pulled out his wallet to offer change when the man pulled a gun and while pointing it at the victim’s stomach, demanded the wallet. The victim handed over his money and as the robber began to walk away, he pulled his own weapon.

The robber then fired a shot at the car door. The victim then shot back and as the robber tried to continue the fight his gun jammed.

The victim “emptied his weapon” according to the police report. The report did not state how many times he was hit. After being shot, he ran to the parking lot of a nearby Ruby Tuesday and told a witness that he had been shot and needed to go to the hospital.

He then collapsed . When police arrived at the scene, a witness flagged them down and pointed the officer to a gun on the side of the road. Another woman then pointed the officer to where the robber was lying on the ground where he had collapsed. A third witness to the shooting, also an off-duty EMT, was helping the suspect until on-duty EMT’s arrived.

Rob- Criminals interview their victims. “Hey, may, do you have the time, have change, have directions.”
The answer is no, go away. The exception is if you’re working security.

Tracy – Break the OODA loop. we don’t shoot when the threat is gone.

Belle- Dont let strangers in your bubble! There is no reason in our culture for people you don’t know to get in your personal space. If you’re keeping your bubble intact, about half the time, you have a bit more time to decide and act.You can be polite, or not, from a comfortable distance.

The sad truth is, churches are another one of those places that violence happens and we know that. That should encourage a change in behavior.

Text message #1

Al the Iron Range trucker here. Not to stir the pot (sarcasm font here) my wife carries a Sig 238. Yes 1911 in a 380! Hated the shield. I goofed on the gross weight of the truck last text. It is 830,000 pounds.

Tracy – any gun is better than no gun, but not my choice of caliber, nor my choice of handgun.

Belle-the 938 is not bad for people with limited hand strength, slide moves like butter.

Text message #2

I love listening to your show, you have a lot of great content. I don’t mean to complain but whoever keeps their microphone up their nose is very distracting with the sniffing and breathing. It drowns out some of your interviews and distracts from what others are saying. I’ve skipped a few shows because I couldn’t keep listening to it. Thanks for listening to my rant, Mike.

Email from Mark in Chicago

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen:

I am a very new shooter. Let me thank you for all the work you put into the podcast — it has been a very useful resource for a newcomer.

In my short acquaintance with the gun culture, I have found that instructors and experienced shooters recite the litany of gun safety rules frequently. And sometimes they talk about negligent discharges that occur when the rules are broken. But when they do, it is almost always about some *other* fool’s accident. That’s why I thought this post by Dr James Williams on his excellent Tactical Anatomy blog was so gutsy:

In this post Dr Williams, a very experienced shooter indeed, talks about the three negligent discharges that he himself has popped off in his long life as a shooting enthusiast, and what he learned from them.

I wonder if any of the hosts have caused ADs during their lives as shooters, and would be willing to discuss them on air for the good purpose of scaring newbies like me straight.

Keep up the good work.

Tracy – Ive taken Dr. Williams’ shooting with x-ray vision class. If you have the opportunity to train with him, seize the opportunity.

Rob- I was practicing for competition and put one off the target and into the berm. One went over went over the berm.

Gary –

Paul – I have NEVER admitted this, but I did have a round go off that I didn’t intend to fire

Amy – Fortunately, I have never had an AD, but I know people that have. I credit the military with drilling weapons safety into my mind, In the Marines, we literally carried unloaded rifles with us everywhere and were constantly trigger finger checking and checking muzzle awareness , but I am not saying military personnel have never had any AD’s happen. It’s important to talk about these things so we don’t get complacent regarding the rules of firearm safety.

John – I, like Amy, have been fortunate not to have an AD. I think it was luck more than anything else.

Belle- Like Paul, if we are being honest here, the only ND i have had was the split second earlier than expected slip into the sad part of the target. I agree with John tho, that it is just luck.

Paul: Rob, do you have any new posts you want to mention?

Rob- I posted 9 articles since our last episode. One is called, Money and political factionalism have marginalized gun owners. The Republican leadership would rather oppose President Trump than support the grassroots. Most politicians are in it for the money, and the Republican leadership certainly is. My articles are up at , at and at my blog, John, tell us what’s new at your blog no lawyers only guns and money

John – In the post-Las Vegas shooting days, the gun banners have gone into hyper-drive. I have many posts up about their plans to ban bump fire stocks. For our purposes, it is important to remember that . The way these bills are written, upgrading your trigger or changing the buffer weight in your AR could be construed to allow a semi-auto rifle to increase its rate of fire. So, for example, if Amy has anything but a gritty mil-spec trigger on her 3Gun rifle, it could be illegal for her to even possess that trigger. but just says any part that is meant to increase the rate of fire. The sad thing is that you have co-sponsors of the bill who should be our friends – A rated and endorsed by the NRA. All of this means we have to get off our butts and start calling, faxing, , and writing our congressional critters. Now.

Amy – Yes! The devil is in the details!

I have not written anything new but will be ready to announce my blog on website by next episode. Currently, in the middle of a lot of changes there.

That and more is at

Paul: That wraps up another episode of the Polite Society Podcast. I’d like to thank (Guests) for joining us today. So for Amy, Tracy, Belle, Jae, Dana, Douglas, Gary, John, Rachel, Susan, Craig, and Rob,

Personal news from each participant (when you are done with your segment please ask the next person what has been up with them)

Rob- Carried every day. Early voted in my state primary. Read more of Massad Ayoob’s book Deadly Force. I read Chris Knox recommendations for NRA board.. and I looked for my NRA ballot. Anyone received theirs yet? Spoke with Bill Frady on Lock and Load Radio. He spoke highly of our podcast, and I speak highly of him.

John – I got my ballot this week around Wednesday. I will have a blog post out with a roundup of endorsements by next week.

I dealt with internet problems this week. After three service calls, my third cable modem, a new and expensive router, and the service tech actually listening to what I thought was causing the problem, I am back to normal. I hope I sound OK to the listeners. Other than that, we spent last weekend celebrating Olivia Grace’s first birthday. It is incredible to see how she has grown week by week over the year.

  • shooting: working for precision and accuracy on my DPMS, preparing for a long-range course in mid-March. .308 is plenty comfortable even with 175 grain….until that one shot that I didn’t have it all the way into my shoulder
  • reading to prepare for the course: accuracy and precision for the long-range shooter (Bryan Litz)
  • classes with TTTI – women’s LTC in Buda and Waco
  • still need to vote……
  • I’m going to the MAG 40!!

Gary – What training do you have coming up?

Rob- We get better as we get worse.

Paul/Susan I went back to work this week the outpouring of support is amazing I want to thank each and every person that has contributed commented posted texted or reached out in anyway. I am currently not armed. The state of Nebraska still has my firearm and it looks like they will continue to keep it for a while. I must say, it feels great to be able to work again. I took a load to Georgia this week, and then got delayed for a day coming back. That is why we are recording the show on Friday instead of on Thursday.

I want to take just a moment to have a little bit of a mini rant here. This is not a full blown rant just a few seconds to talk about something that is very important this week. On this coming Tuesday is what is known as Super Tuesday. There are a lot of states, 10 of them, that are having primary elections this Tuesday. It is critically important that you get out and vote this Tuesday, if your state has elections. Right now Donald Trump is in the lead in the Republican primaries.

I must say that Mr Trump scares me more than just a bit. it seems as though he’s come across as just about the same time he decided to run for president. It seems to me that is a dangerous man he comes across as someone who will say anything and do anything to promote his own agenda. Speaking for myself personally all way through I am NOT going to endorse any candidate before the national conventions this summer,. however I can say that I cannot support Mr Trump at this time. I think that any other person running for the nomination would likely be a better choice than Mr Trump. Should it happen that Mr Trump wins the Republican nomination for President I will support him and I will vote for him over Hillary or Bernie Sanders. However in the primaries I think we could do much better for the country中国体彩官方app than Mr Trump.

John – I heard a good comment about Trump today. Trying to persuade people not to vote for him is like talking to a friend who is planning to marry a stripper. You just know it isn’t going to work out but they still go ahead and do it.

Gary –

Promo about upcoming training classes here.

Lead News and Opinion

Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia Dies

Two weeks ago, America a brilliant mind, an unbridled legal thinker, a steadfast believer in the rule of law, and a courageous advocate for the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and Freedom. Justice Antonin Scalia died in his sleep Friday night, after a day of hunting quail at a West Texas ranch. He had lived a full, productive life in his 79 years.

Scalia is honored by the Rights community for his support of the legal theories that directly resulted in the Heller and McDonald decisions. He championed the use of the original intent of the Founders. As a result, the words of the 2nd Amendment meant what they meant as written, not some fanciful modern reinterpretation. His Heller majority opinion is a triumph of facts, logic and clarity, even by his opponents. His 30 years on the Supreme Court have left an indelible impression on American jurisprudence and on the fabric of the United States.

Antonin Scalia leaves a huge hole in the Court. One that Obama has already promised to fill. Another hard left ideologue, like his two prior nominees Kagan and Sotomayor, would shift the Court from a soft Right majority to a hard Left one. Ted Cruz has that Scalia’s death leaves us “one justice away from the Second Amendment being written out of the Constitution altogether.” Much depends on the Senate Majority Leader to block or delay the nomination, under by rules written decades ago by the Democrats. The charitably described linguini-spined Mitch McConnell immediately equivocated, saying that the next president should appoint Scalia’s successor. It was a weak declaration, leaving plenty of room for surrender. Even more frightening, Justice Ginsberg’s frail health means another vacancy is certainly plausible before the 20th of January. Our listeners need to call their Senators and insist that they stand firm in the memory of Scalia and all he stood for.

Scalia’s replacement was immediately personalized by the president. Obama seems petulantly offended by any thought that his choice would be questioned. His petulance extended to refusing to attend the funeral of a 30 year Justice. At a recent press conference, Obama. Even the partisan Washington Post had to admit that the Constitution does not require the Senate to give judicial nominees a vote. Seems there is some Constitutional confusion. President Obama will likely be challenged by the words of Senator Obama; “I believe firmly that the Constitution calls for the Senate to advise AND consent. I believe that it calls for meaningful advice and consent that includes an examination of a judge’s philosophy, ideology, and record.” Joe Biden and others are also on Memorex stating that George Bush’s appointments more than a year before the end of his term should not be acted upon. We guess the Constitutional tables have turned.

In the words of legal scholar Cass Sunstein; “[Antonin Scalia] was a great man, and a deeply good one.” He will be missed – and we fear he will be greatly missed.

John – I am still reeling from the news that President Obama did not attend the funeral. Given that Justice Scalia was the first sitting justice to die since 1954, regardless of their philosophical differences, Obama should have been there. That he didn’t shows what a shallow, immature human being he really is.

John – One impact already is that the NY SR&PA is not going to appeal their loss in the appeals court on the NY SAFE Act.

Paul – (202) 224-3121

Gary –

Rob- It is easy to be disheartened and cynical. Scalia inspires. His depth was optimistic

Rachel-a new president doesn’t guarantee a good nominee. We need standards upheld

Choosy Maniacs Choose Gun-Free Zones

In a result that should surprise no-one, has confirmed that mass-murderers.

The study compiled data from 2002 to recent times, where three or more shooting victims were injured or killed (not including the shooter.) Gang or drug related activities were not included. Within these definitions, 153 incidents were recorded. The Heritage Foundation found that in 54 of the 153 incidents (35 percent) involved random people who were not relatives or adversaries of the attempted murderer’s. Of those 54 incidents, the shooter chose locations where guns were banned 37 times (69 percent), showing the murderers strong preference for unprotected victims. There has been a large amount of anecdotal evidence supporting the findings. For example: the Colorado movie shooter passed on seven similar venues to attack a theater protected only by a Gun-Free Zone sign. Of significant interest to CCW carriers; in the 17 shootings where citizens could carry firearms, 5 (almost a third) were ended when the gunman was stopped or slowed by a gun permit holder’s intervention.

The results were clear: avoid gun-free zones if you want to lessen your chances of becoming involved in a mass murder. And carry when and where you can; if ill fortune strikes, you can make a difference.

Rob- Makes sense.

Michigan Jihadi Planned to Attack Where “People Are Not Allowed to Carry Guns”

The state of Michigan has helped further a Jihadi’s. Michigan prohibits the concealed carry of firearms in a place of worship. Khalil Abu-Rayyan, 21, planned to exploit that misguided legislation by shooting up one of Detroit’s biggest churches. “It’s easy, and a lot of people go there. Plus people are not allowed to carry guns in church. Plus it would make the news. Everybody would’ve heard.” <unquote>

Fortunately, the wanna-be martyr was frustrated in his plans despite buying ammunition and practicing reloading his weapons. On Twitter, he later discussed his plans with another ISIS adherent, who was actually a FBI agent. The failed terrorist told the agent he decided to target a church specifically because people are not allowed to carry guns there. Abu-Rayyan also bragged about his dreams of beheading, saying he had gotten a large knife to use. The targeted church was described as having 6000 seats in the Federal. That’s a very large hunting preserve for the terrorist; who would have been the only one armed thanks to Michigan’s fatally-flawed law.

What were we saying about gun-free zones?

Paul – Pay attention – the bad guys are practicing

Rob- Can you imagine having that job? What did you do today, Dad?

Criminologists, Economists Find Benefits to Gun Ownership

The Crime Prevention Research Center recently released a of experts in Criminology and Economics. The study found that researchers supported what Second Amendment advocates have known all along regarding concealed handgun laws, gun-free zones, self-defense and crime, and suicide and guns. The researchers believe guns are used more for self defense than crime; gun-free zones fail to deter criminals, rather, they attract them; guns in the house don’t increase the risk of suicide; those who hold concealed handgun permits are more law-abiding than the average American; and permitted concealed handguns lower the murder rate.

“Economists and criminologists have very different approaches to research and different political views, but they both generally find benefits from gun ownership,” Dr. John Lott told Townhall via email. For example: By a factor of 12-to-1, economists believe that permitted concealed handguns reduce rather than increase murder rates. Criminologists also believe this, but by a factor of just 2-to-1.

This type of data should certainly help the discussion of the benefits of arms in civilian hands.

Gary –

John – Economists deal more with hard facts than criminologists and bring more quantitative rigor to their research.

Rob- Which billionaire supports self-defense.

Deaths Rise 9.3% – Reversing a Long Trend

American deaths have jumped an unprecedented 9.3 percent in the first 9 months of 2015. This unprecedented rise reversed decades of declining deaths and will likely increase the calls for more laws and tighter regulations. There are already moves to restrict the availability of high capacity vehicles and fully automatic transmissions.

Wait? — What?

It’s true, deaths have significantly increased on the Nation’s roadways according to the Department of Transportation. The increase comes despite all the government’s studies, regulations, laws, and increased enforcement. “We’re seeing red flags across the U.S. and we’re not waiting for the situation to develop further,” said the NHTSA Administrator. The bureaucrats immediately announced a, junkets and boondoggles to drive (really?) behavioral changes.

It all sounds distressingly familiar. We can hardly wait for to screech in.

John – I blame the availability of cheap gas prices as well as assault cars.

Gary –

Rob- High capacity gas tanks?

Thugs get guns.. even in Australia

We reported on the research study that showed US criminals never use a background check to get their guns. Both of our Democratic Presidential candidates then proposed a ban on civilian firearms. They cited the ban in Australia. The ban on private firearms in Australia occurred after a mentally ill individual used a semi-automatic rifle to murder shoppers and store owners back in 1996. Honest Australian citizens were disarmed by the gun ban. Australian criminals did what criminals do; they created a black market for guns. The number of guns and ammunition found on criminals since the 2005 to 2010 time frame. The Australian press looked at those reports, and rather admit that gun prohibition fails, they said they need even more restrictive gun laws.

We could have told the Australians that would happen. Ammunition is assembled in 中国体彩官方app workshops all across the United States. Guns are easily smuggled across borders, even on island nations like Britain and Australia. Prohibition fails time after time. In fact, the only thing that succeeds is the way politicians keep selling prohibition to the next gullible generation of voters.

We don’t report this story to point out that Australians are politically foolish. Far from it. Their experience is a cautionary tale for American voters who are fundamentally no wiser than their Australian cousins.

Disarming honest people does not make us safer. Not there. Not here. Not ever.

Rob- politicians sell a fantasy. Being informed means recognizing when you’re being lied to.

Twitter Banning Conservative Commentators
Several weeks ago, we told you about Facebook’s heavy-handed elimination of gun groups in their supposed effort to end legal private party guns sales on their site. Now, Twitter has apparently started banning or restricting members whose speech they find uncomfortable. Blogger Stacy McCain, with 90,000 followers, has been removed from Twitter. Other conservative voices, from Breitbart tech editor Milo Yiannopoulos ( ;^)’ CF), to actor and New York Times Book List author and gun advocate have felt the wrath of Twitter.

Twitter has established the orwellian-named Trust and Safety Council to save their users from uncomfortable comments, ideas and wrong-think. The council is composed of leftists like Anita Sarkesian, infamous for her overwrought accusations in Gamergate. Not one conservative or free speech organization has been included in the group charged with ensuring that Twitter is “global and inclusive” in its future policies and practices.

If you haven’t noticed, there has been a long-term resistance to the ideas and issues the progressive elites find unacceptable. The possession of firearms is just one of the freedoms they object to. Now, two major-new media communication channels have suddenly and decisively moved to limit the spread of ideas they find troubling.

We have been warned. To communicate with one another, we will need to rely upon ourselves rather than the unfriendly left-leaning elites of the internet.

John – I have been trying out quitter.se which uses GNU Social – whatever the heck that is. That plus MeWe.

Paul –

Gary –

Rob- GNU is a free open source follow-on operating system to replace Linux.

Rachel-social media thrives on controversy

John – I do use Twitter. I just checked and I have over 14K tweets with 929 followers. I did set it up to post links to my blog posts. However, I do retweet a lot of stuff and have engaged in guerrilla tweeting with the anti’s.

Because Only the Police Are Responsible Enough to Have Guns
In a situation eerily similar to the Fast and Furious scandal, the Metropolitan Police Department of Washington DC <quote> “” <unquote> 24 firearms from their evidence lockers. Those firearms were later found at other crime scenes. One figured in a murder, several others were involved in violent crimes. An internal memo from the D.C. Department of Forensic Sciences found that 24 guns confiscated between 2005 and 2012 vanished from the MPD evidence locker and were later confiscated again in other crimes. There was no mention of the guns that went missing and had not yet been found.

Poor record keeping is suspect, as well as criminally negligent physical security and outright theft. To date, no one has been implicated.

Remember, only the police in progressive-controlled cities are responsible enough to have guns.

Rob- Cops or city employees sold the guns to criminals. Police Chief Kathy Lanier says YOU are too irresponsible to own a firearm.

Leland Yee Sentenced to Five Years in Club Fed

One of California’s most virulent anti-gunners has been to five years in federal prison — for gun-running. Yee made his bones in San Francisco with his unquestioning support of progressive policies and anti-gun efforts. Winning a state senate seat, he quickly became known for his staunch support of every piece of anti-gun legislation dreamed up in the fever-pit of Sacramento. So, it was a bit of a shock when he was indicted and then convicted for influence peddling as well as illegal international trade in weapons with Muslim terrorists and Asian drug gangs.

This week, Yee received his sentence of five years in federal custody. Facing the possibility of hundreds of years of prison time, the five year sentence is certainly disappointing. Especially when you consider he was trying to bring fully automatic weapons and rocket grenade launchers for the ultra-violent Chinese drug gangs that own the underside of San Francisco, while doing his damndest to disarm the populace facing those criminals. The judge called Yee hypocritical and his actions vile. Yet the sentence was years less than the prosecutors had asked for. Yee’s confederate Raymond “Shrimp Boy” Chow and his political consultant both received stiffer sentences. It must be good to be among California’s elite.

In the show notes there’s a link to gun-rights attorney Chuck Mitchell’s excellent .

Paul – John could you please remind us of Leland Yee’s accomplice?

Rob- There is no justice.

The Real Australian-Style Gun Control Experience

Obama and Hillary have made much of the so called Australian-style gun-control – a disingenuous code-name for gun confiscation. In a two part series, Justin Luke, a family man of Sydney, Australia aims to educate Americans about the realities of Australia’s gun control experiment.

The link to the series can be found in the shownotes: Frightening stuff.

Gun Quotes –

Undoubtedly some think that the Second Amendment is outmoded in a society where our standing army is the pride of our Nation, where well-trained police forces provide personal security, and where gun violence is a serious problem. That is perhaps debatable, but what is not debatable is that it is not the role of this Court to pronounce the Second Amendment extinct. –Justice Antonin Scalia

Las Vegas 中国体彩官方appowner Shoots Invader in the Face

A man with a 12 inch knife a quiet Las Vegas neighborhood late one night. He assaulted several 中国体彩官方apps before choosing the wrong doggie door.

Alexander Gonzales, 40, has been charged with burglary with a deadly weapon; attempted burglary with a deadly weapon; and possession of a controlled substance. It seems likely that the controlled substance led him on the midnight rampage in South Las Vegas. He tried to break down the doors of at least three 中国体彩官方apps before trying his luck one more time. A neighbor warned the targeted owner by phone, and he was at least somewhat prepared. When Gonzales tried to force his way through the doggy-door, the 中国体彩官方appowner shot the knifeman in the face. When the police finally arrived, the owner met them with raised arms and told the officers where his gun was located. Gonzales was treated at a local hospital for a minor wounds and released into police custody. The large caliber bullet entered the criminals face between the eyes, traveled beside the nose, through the lips and exited out the jaw. The thug should never buy another lottery ticket; he’s used up all his luck. The show notes contain a link to the thug’s picture. Be advised, it’s very graphic.

Neighbor Nicole Stokken said; “I think it was very brave. I’m glad he did it. It made me feel better — that he’s armed.” Slokken believes the outcome would’ve been different if a neighbor had not called her with a heads up and if her next door neighbor did not shoot the suspect. “The detective told me the neighbor very well could have saved our lives.”

Guns in good hands have a tendency to do that.

Clerk and Thug Exchange Shots

Sometimes life can be a game of inches, as a Washington state convenience store found out. During the robbery, clerk Seul Lim, 30, and the accused robber, Tyrone Prophet Jr., 23, each got off one shot. His bullet clipped Lim, her’s barely missed.

On the surveillance video, the masked gunman is seen entering the store with a drawn gun, pointing it at Lim’s face and demanding money. She surrendered the cash but the agitated accused continued to wave the gun at her head. When Prophet looked away, she pulled a gun from near the register and fired. The thug fired at almost the same instant and then fled. His bullet hit Lim in the abdomen, her’s missed the assailant’s head by inches.

Police tracked the getaway car to a motel and arrested Prophet and detained the female driver. Investigators recovered a .380 semi-automatic pistol, as well as clothing seen in the video. He is being held on 1 million dollars bail. Prophet is also suspected in where the clerk was shot in the hand without provocation.

Lim was treated at the hospital and released. She’s tough. her husband said, She’s a tough cookie.

We’re glad the criminal is in custody and that Seul Lim will be okay. We’re especially glad that her husband made the “tough cookie” crack and not us.

Rob- training lets us make better judgements.

Tampa Liquor Store Robber Dies
Freelance Bernie Sanders-ing a is tough and dangerous work. A young thief, Cody Bolesta, 20, and a partner tried their wealth redistribution scheme at Cut Rate Liquors of Tampa, Florida. The two entered the store wearing ski masks and hoodies; pointing guns and demanding money. Store clerk Willie Morris, 57, pulled his own gun in self defense and exchanged gunshots with the criminals. Bolesta was struck and made it back to the sidewalk before collapsing. His partner left Bolesta to die and fled. Morris was not hit.

At this time, police believe the shooting to be justifiable self-defense, but the case will be presented to the State Attorney’s Office for final determination.

John – I guess these thieves were not persuaded by the prices of cut rate liquors.

Rob- Video saves prosecution.

Self-Defense in Cali
Self defense can be necessary, even in the gun-controlled paradise of California. A 中国体彩官方appowner shot and killed a man attempting to, California 中国体彩官方app. The owner confronted the 26 year-old-man in the 中国体彩官方app’s entryway, where they struggled. The intruder attempted to take the man’s gun and was shot a single time in the chest. The unnamed burglar was pronounced dead at the scene.

As Bob Owens of Bearing Arms wrote; Even in anti-gun California this appears to be a very cut-and-tried case of self-defense, and it is not expected that the 中国体彩官方appowner is at any risk of facing charges for defending his 中国体彩官方app, himself, and his spouse.

Failure in the Victim Selection Process – Armed Robber Gets Only Lead

An armed thief prowled a Minneapolis–Saint Paul neighborhood one night. But instead of money, a smart phone, jewelry — or a life — he got . You see, the thief’s chosen victim was a CCW permit holder who was carrying his gun.

Official information is sketchy, but there was certainly an exchange of gunfire. The concealed permit holder was standing at the end of a driveway when the 20-year-old male tried to rob him at gunpoint. It was the criminal who was mortally wounded; his victim was not hit. Police recovered both weapons from the scene as part of the investigation. No other suspects are being sought. Witnesses corroborated the victim’s story, and the legal CCW carrier was not arrested and was not expected to be charged.

The alleged robber was well known to police. The city’s Police Chief said the man “goes back and forth between Brooklyn Park and Minneapolis. He’s an individual we’ve known from previous contact. He certainly hangs out around here.” <Unquote> Or used to.

State Rep. Pat Garofalo (R-Farmington) said, “A loss of life is a tragedy. But when a criminal pulls a gun, they risk ending their life. Concealed carry works.” Roughly 1 in 19 eligible Minnesota adults now has a permit to carry a gun for self-defense. Criminals should take note.

Rob- 20 crimes before they are caught.

Another Failure in the Victim Selection Process: Thief Tries to Rob a Policeman’s 中国体彩官方app

A is in guarded condition after kicking in a 中国体彩官方app’s back door. Unfortunately (for the thug), the 中国体彩官方app belonged to a Memphis police officer. The off-duty officer was forced to defend the lives of his two young children and shot the man as he entered through the door. Neighbors saw the policeman running across the street to a neighbor’s’ house with a kid under each arm to get them away from the scene. Only the criminal was injured.

Neighbors said that several police officers live nearby, and they are prepared if someone chooses to target them. A neighbor continued; In general, it’s as safe a neighborhood as you’re going to find any place nowadays. I do feel safe, but when I walk, I still carry my gun, my taser and my pepper spray. You have a lot of people here who hunt, a lot of people here who carry guns; and Mississippi is probably not a good state to just kick in somebody’s door and try to rob them.”

We can only hope the criminals will learn this harsh truth soon enough.

John – Tom Givens – only 3 students injured in over 65 gunfights involving his students – they weren’t carrying. The rest were.

Man shot dead Tuesday during a 中国体彩官方app invasion

“Guy just tried to come in here and cut my throat and he’s dying on the floor.” Those chilling words said to a 911 operator hardly do justice to the life or death in a Lockland, Ohio 中国体彩官方app.

The resident reported that four people entered the 中国体彩官方app and threatened to kill him with a knife. Three others were still on the scene when police arrived Tuesday afternoon. A fourth person fled the scene in a gold vehicle. Police found a man inside the 中国体彩官方app with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Neighbors said it is surprising that violence hit this particular 中国体彩官方app. “He’s a defender, you know, he defends his community. He defends himself, quite naturally,” Lockland resident Dwayne Palmore said. “What would you do if somebody came in your 中国体彩官方app?”

We all need to ask ourselves that question…. Continuously.

John – From what I could find it involves retention screws on the firing pin.

Rob- Snap caps let you dry practice. You can use snap caps for a rimfire.

-Our 1st email this one from Carl

Hi All,

Since you need emails again, I thought I would relate my first, and so far only, negligent discharge.

I was very fortunate in a number of ways. First, I learned a valuable lesson. Second, the negligent discharge involved a small caliber air rifle. Third, the only damage was to my garden hose. Fourth, and perhaps the most important, is that my wife’s car was not in the garage!

Here is the story:

It was a cold rainy day outside and I was getting an itchy trigger finger. One of the nice things about air guns is that you can easily set up a shooting range indoors. As a lead catcher, I often use a cardboard box filled with old phone books or similar booklets. This will easily stop the pellets. I had set up shooting catty-cornered in our 2-car garage, probably a distance of 20 feet or more. I was shooting my old Chinese Norinco TS-45 in 0.177 caliber. The TS45 is a side-lever, spring action air rifle. Muzzle velocity has been reported as being around 700fps. There is no mechanical safety. Back to the story. I was sitting in a chair and shooting at a paper target. At one point, I loaded a pellet, which means cocking the gun, and went to shift positions in the chair. Ffffffftt! Uh oh. Where did it hit? I walked over to the corner at which I was shooting and started looking for a hole in the drywall or the garage door when I noticed the water leaking onto the floor. Yep, hit the garden hose. Fortunately the water valve was turned off. The pellet completely penetrated the first wall of the hose but remained inside. Since I had a repair kit handy, I cut out the damaged part and spliced the 2 ends. Then I was able to find the pellet inside the piece I had cut out.

All together, say it with me, “Keep your finger off the trigger until you are on target and ready to fire.”

Even though it was “only an air gun” and little damage was done, this episode left a lasting impression on me. I sincerely hope no one ever experiences a negligent discharge of any kind, but if they do I hope it will be as “harmless” as mine was.

Stay safe, stay diligent, and stay dangerous.

This is my TS-45

Below is a typical target. It is mounted on a piece of 1/4 ” plywood which leans against my phonebook pellet trap.

Rob- Defense in depth. Follow all the rules.

Next comes in from a listener who signed the email Anonymous

Hi all,

I just wanted to clarify that your listening last week wasn’t suggesting anyone break the law, and especially wouldn’t expect you guys to put that advice out. He was asking for use in states just like South Dakota where “no guns allowed” signs on private businesses (or people’s place of employment) are not stating that “You shall not carry guns here.” Rather it means “Leave your guns elsewhere, pretty please?”
It is not illegal to carry in these locations until you’re discovered, asked to leave, and additionally refuse to do so.

Since being asked to leave a business or being fired from a job are far better options that being killed, I always recommend my students disobey these signs and conceal a firearm.

I personally keep a five inch duty pistol, with two spare mags, giving me 52 rounds to protect myself at my “gun free zone” job because I refuse to be a victim.

Thank you for your time, stay dangerous.

John – Check your state laws. They differ in how they treat it.

Rachel-Texas is the same. To have the force of law, the signs must meet specific requirements (30.06 or 30.07). However, verbal notice is always valid.

Next is an email from Jerry

I love your podcast and would value your collective input on something I have struggled with.

By way of background, I am a middle aged former trauma surgeon who believes strongly in the second amendment and our personal responsibility for self defense. I have taken the advanced defensive handgun courses, shoot at least twice monthly and had the good future to participate in an active shooter drill with law enforcement. I carry either a chambered Glock 19 or Ruger LCP each with an extra mag depending on how I’m dressed. I usually carry at the 4:00 position with a hybrid IWB holster or a Fobus OWB holster.

I like all of the benefits of appendix carry (comfort, conceal ability, quickdraw, security, etc) but cannot yet accept the risk pointing the muzzle at my femoral artery. I have worked hard at practicing the “Israeli Carry” and can draw, rack and shoot in just under 2 seconds, but I need two hands to do it.

I would like to hear your thoughts on appendix carry and perhaps I can change my mindset!

– Jerry

Rob- I carry the same way you do, Jerry. I use a shoulder holster if I have to drive or sit all day.

John – I would look at a cross draw holster for driving. I know Ted Blocker makes a good one. As to Israeli Carry, from what the videos suggest, you have to rack the slide and do a somersault while doing it.

Ed wants to talk Motorcycles and carrying

I was listening to the voicemail segment and the listener who had questions about carrying in his motorcycle.

I am an avid rider and I also follow the “pants on, gun on” belief. What works for me is being proactive with my riding gear choices. I have two jackets that I wear based upon temperature. Both have pockets just off of the main zipper. The cold weather jacket has an exterior accessible left breastfeeding pocket.

When I get off the bike I transfer the weapon to my normal carry position, or to a lockbox in the hardbags, which I also lock.

Thanks for the show,

P.S. My brother drives truck also, he complains about people who don’t understand physics, too. He used to drive trains, people think they can stop on a dime, too.

Paul: Rob, do you have any new posts you want to mention?

Rob- Our listeners might enjoy an article I wrote called You Stopped Mass Murder. It is up at Clash Daily, at Ammoland and at my blog..

John, you’ve been busy at your blog Only Guns and Money.

about the HB 2406 – the SHARE Act or Sportsmen’s Heritage and Recreational Enhancement Act of 2015 – coming up for a vote in the US House of Representatives. Despite the name, this is not just a bill for Fudd’s. It contains a lot for Gun Culture 2.0 including money for shooting ranges, preventing the Army Corps of Engineers from prohibiting legal possession of firearms on Corps lakes and campgrounds for the purpose of self-defense, and prohibiting certain Federal agencies from banning lead ammo. As of this afternoon – Friday, Feb. 26th – the bill has passed the House by a vote of 242-161. Now it goes on to the Senate where it has died in years gone by. We need to keep the pressure up on this bill as it helps all of us.

GARY – What training do you have coming up? My next class is an Illinois FCCL certification course on September 19&20 for the full 16 hour course or Sunday the 20th for 8 hours if you meet the prerequisites. You can sign up on my website . Of course last weekend I was in the class with the added bonus of a handgun retention class with

JOHN – The classes I teach at WCU started this week so I’ve been pretty busy with that. I did meet with a client yesterday and our conversation turned to guns. Turns out Tom qualified Expert with the M16A1 when he was a Combat Engineer in the Army Reserve in the 70s.

The class with Paul Carlson and Grant Cunningham in North Carolina tentatively scheduled for this fall that Doc Wesson and I were trying to put together is being put on hold. I think we may try for the Spring instead. Doc’s work schedule and not enough solid interest contributed to this.

RACHEL – my sister’s wedding yesterday. Still trying to catch up on sleep from the last few weeks and organize my life for this fall. Made all my reservations for GRPC! Got an email invitation to their range day event – is anyone else doing that? I might…

SEAN – I shot an IDPA match yesterday! I need a better ammo budget. That’s really a lot of fun.

PAUL – Cornered Cat class. Improved although I only did a bit of shooting on Sunday. Unlike Rob, I need to add more live fire. I found some things that make my grouping a LOT better.

Chief Craig Effect: Detroit Citizens Arming Themselves In Face of Rising Crime Emailed in by Listener Anthony L

On the mean streets of Detroit, embattled citizens are arming themselves for their own protection with the approval and support of Police Chief James Craig. In a city plagued by crime, unemployment, shrinking police numbers and decades of single party rule, many of the remaining citizens are trying to take back their city. Handgun registrations and CCW permits have increased notably.

“There’s definitely been a “Chief Craig” effect,” said Rick Ector, a firearms instructor, business owner, blogger and friend of this show. His support and endorsement has been helpful. Ector said that he and other instructors have seen a steady rise in locals looking to get a permit, to protect themselves either on the street or in their 中国体彩官方apps. Ector noted that legally armed residents are having an effect. “中国体彩官方app invasions have gone down,” he said. “A huge reason was that there was a huge spate of 中国体彩官方appowners using their guns against intruders. More people have guns and it’s making burglars cautious.”

Rick said women are driving the growth in his business. “It used to be that we would only have one or two women in a class,” he said. “Now we are seeing much, much more. In the largely African-American city, residents are increasingly supportive of civilian armament. “If anyone should have the right or need to carry a gun, it should be the African-American community,” Philip Smith, founder of the National African American Gun Association, told Reuters.

Seems like this is one more lesson that can be learn from the rise and fall of Detroit. If only they were willing to listen.

Sean – The real terror of this is the lack of control. Anti-gunners don’t want low crime, they want high control.

Rachel – I appreciate those who make the gun world much easier for women to enter and thrive in.

John – what threatens the gun controllers even more that it is African Americans

Paul – going to reach out to Rick Ector this week for next weekend’s show

An Alabama Sheriff just doesn’t get it

Russell County Sheriff Heath Taylor thinks that regardless of whether you qualify for a concealed carry permit that HE should be the one who decides if you get it. Taylor was quoted in a saying that “We know things that the computer can’t tell us. We know things about our citizens. We know who’s going through a divorce. We know who’s in a bad time, who may be drinking too much, who may be abusive, but hasn’t necessarily crossed the line of a crime. But in our opinion, they don’t need a pistol permit” This following a theater shooting that we covered a few weeks ago where the gunman got a pistol despite several disqualifying factors that should have stopped him in the NICS check system. What the sheriff didn’t say is that the same things that should have stopped the gunman from getting a gun through NICS also would have allowed any sheriff to disallow the carry permit.

John – this makes me think of the NC sheriffs and the pistol permit system.

Sean – So he’s saying that he has a list of citizens he’s put on double secret probation?

Rachel – I know many people who would think this is a great idea. They don’t realize that this line of thinking will come back to bite them….and their grandkids.

Gary – They are doing this in Illinois, we are shall issue but any law enforcement agency can deny permits.

Paul –

Sean – Judge

Gabby Giffords and Starman Kelly Redefine Gun Control as Gun Responsibility

In an Orwellian redefinition of the term, Gabby Gifford and her opportunistic husband Mark “Starman” Kelly are claiming that , but rather favor ‘gun responsibility’. Despite never meeting a gun-control effort they didn’t like, they now say they do not support ‘gun-control’ in the traditional sense of the phrase. With a profound grasp of the obvious, Kelly said that nobody likes to be controlled. He went on to say that the gun control group he and Giffords launched simply supports “basic principles” to keep communities safer.

This is an indication of the success the gun-rights community has earned; the term “gun-control’ now has a negative connotation with most of the public. The terms gun-safety and now gun-responsibility are simply efforts to get around the public’s evolving understanding. Giffords and Kelly’s statement is a nuanced, and deceitful, acknowledgement of our gains.

As Kurt Schlichter said to the antis; “Screw You”. Giffords and Kelly are urged to again substitute a word.

Gary – Government forcing ‘Gun Responsibility’ IS ‘Gun Control’

John – I’m reminded of our interview with Jeff Knox regarding the VA and SSA. Shouldn’t Gabby Giffords actually be a prohibited person due to brain injuries.

Gary –

Paul – unfortunately I saw in the news this week that Giffords has had a US Navy ship named after her. I think that it is unfortunate that a ship made for fighting is named for a person who is against our rights.

Sean – Gun Ban, Gun Control, Gun Safety, Gun Responsibility: You can say poop, feces, or night soil, but no matter what you call it, it tastes just the same .

Rachel- this is true Sean, but it’s also true that those who control the narrative have a significant edge. Maybe we’ve successfully given gun “control” a negative connotation…let’s also make sure we’re the ones who successfully define gun responsibility.

In a coordinated anti-rights assault, thirteen anti-gun U.S. senators have Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s to refuse to release firearms to customers whose background checks aren’t completed within three business days. Michael Bloomberg’s Demanding Mommies is also the same demand of Gander Mountain and Sportsman’s Warehouse. And, U.S. Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-Ariz.) and Brady Campaign president Dan Gross the same from firearm dealers nationwide. Thankfully, the retailers have so far not responded to the demands.

The largely ineffective requires initial background checks to be completed within three business days. The three day limit is there so as to not violate the Second Amendment toooooo much. If the automated check is not completed in time, the retailer is allowed to release the firearm. If granted, these extralegal requests would deny a fundamental right as the result of bureaucratic delay. The threat of deliberate delays is clear.

We applaud the retailer’s decision to resist the pressures of the legislators and activists. We support those that support us.

John – I have just three little words for these retailers – Smith. And. Wesson. They should remember what happened S&W when they entered an agreement with the Clinton Administration.

Sean – The 3 day limit was put there on purpose…

Rachel- everybody, do your part. Be proactive in getting to retailers and encouraging them to support our rights.

Gary- I carry these

One serves in the Air Force, another recently served in Afghanistan in the National Guard, another is studying physical therapy in Sacramento – and these 3 Americans are being hailed as heroes for tackling & disarming a gunman they happened to encounter on a high-speed Amsterdam-Paris train.

Air Force serviceman Spencer Stone remained hospitalized Saturday after being stabbed, though the Pentagon said the injury was not life-threatening. another passenger was wounded by a handgun in the attack.

The French Interior Minister said the American “were particularly courageous and showed great bravery in very difficult circumstances.

The attacker did not fire his automatic weapon but did wound one man with a handgun and another with a blade. The suspect is a 26-year-old Moroccan.

It’s unclear whether there was a political motive to the gunman’s actions. Counterterrorism police are leading the investigation and are questioning the attacker,

14 Year Old Defends Siblings From 中国体彩官方app Invaders

Faced with , a 14 year old did everything he had to do: He hid his six year old twin siblings in closets, got his father’s cell phone…. and he grabbed his rifle. When one of the intruders opened the closet where he was hiding, the thug found himself not facing the expected frightened child, but the muzzle of the young man’s firearm. “I had my gun loaded and ready to shoot, but when he saw me he just took off running,” young Andrew Mason related. Andrew’s father said “He’s excellent. He did everything perfectly. He couldn’t have done better, and he’s actually a hero,”

The proud papa had done pretty well himself. Kiewa Mason recounted that “I believe in the right to bear arms, and it’s not like he was foreign to it. We go to the shooting range quite often. We go to the Clark County (Las Vegas) shooting range quite often. Kiewa Mason said his family has practiced for this scenario.

The two thugs were videoed by the 中国体彩官方app’s security system. They are well known to the neighborhood and are expected to be arrested soon.

Our congratulations to the two Mason men; Well done, well done indeed.

Rachel – gun safety storage, authorized use

Gary – Similar law here in Illinois.

Paul – Good on the father for teaching the child that once someone is running away not to shoot.

Sean – Something jumps out at me when I look at a picture of the young man with the rifle.

Four Teenagers Shoot 中国体彩官方appowner and at Wife Holding a Six Month Old Baby

In a bone-chilling reminder of why we arm ourselves, a Georgia family had to endure the by four armed men. Michael Lash answered a teen’s plea for the loan of a car jack. Once the door was opened, four males forced their way inside. In the fracas, Lash was shot twice in the legs. The thugs then fired at his wife holding their six-month-old daughter. The shot fortunately missed. Their two year old son was unharmed in the incident.

Whitney Lash was talking to a 911 operator before the first shots rang out. However, the cops arrived far too late to apprehend the suspects, who remain at large. The horrifying 911 recording can be found at the link in the show notes.

Defensive Gun Use: Shop Owner Refuses To Be Robbed, Takes Robber’s Gun And Shoots Him With It

when two robbers entered his CAD Auto Parts in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Lucky because he was able to take away one of robbers’ guns and use it to defend himself.

Conrad Bloomfield, 36, of Lauderhill and his accomplice entered Hepburn’s auto parts shop and demanded he get on the ground while they began robbing the shop. When Hepburn was slow to get on the ground, Bloomfield began to pistol whip him. It was then that Hepburn took the robber’s gun and turned it on him. He ended up shooting Bloomfield 5 times in the chest. The accomplice did wound Hepburn in the exchange of gunfire. Fortunately, Hepburn is expected to have a full recovery while Bloomfield is in critical condition.

Ever since Illinois became the last state in the country中国体彩官方app to allow concealed carry, we’ve seen reports of legally-armed citizens against armed criminals. Here is another one of those stories that happened late Thursday. A 24-year-old man, legally carrying a concealed firearm, was walking down the street with a woman when and announced that they were being robbed . . .

As a response, the 24-year-old drew his firearm, as did one of the armed thugs. Both men fired. The permit holder was shot in the leg, while the suspect was shot in the chest.

Both were taken to the same hospital where the permit holder is in stable condition. The suspect, however, is in critical condition and, if he makes it through his injuries, will be facing numerous charges.

Our first email is from Chris in North Carolina

Hey All,

(Caution! wall of text below. Feel free to edit as necessary for brevity as desired)

I have been meaning to drop you one of those oh-so coveted fan emails for a while now but marriage, a new job, and moving to North Carolina got in the way of things. I wanted to express my appreciation to everyone for all the time and effort put into the show each week. Those of you on air and those who work behind the scenes (I’m talking about you Charlie Foxtrot) are doing amazing work. I eagerly anticipate the release of each show. I savor the knowledgeable,
insightful and sometimes irreverent commentary you and your guests provide. You are my go-to podcast for my short commute each day.

I am a native born Minnesotan so a comment in episode 343 caught my attention. You mentioned a very wise hesitancy to render aid to the aggressor in a DGU that happened in Minnesota. I know Paul travels through the “California of the north” so I thought I’d mention this.
Some states have laws with severe penalties that may be interpreted to require you to foolishly put your life in danger a second time and render aid if you’ve used deadly force to stop someone threatening your life.

Of course there are conditional statements in the verbiage of the law making use of what I like to call “lawyer speak” (a.k.a. weasel words) that can be interpreted to allow you to not rendering physical aid if you are still in fear of your life. However, as we have seen there is a concerted effort by the media and most liberals to misinterpret these passages in a way that is NOT advantageous to a victim who chooses to defend themselves. The _potential_ exists that you may be prosecuted for not going beyond calling the cleanup crew to help someone who just tried to kill you.

I personally believe no person should ever be required by the power of the state to do more than call the police and let the trained professionals approach a violent offender. Depending on the prosecutor you could be at risk if you do not. Here is a link to the statute . I hope this helps people make an informed decision if they should ever have to do the unsavory duty of defending themselves or loved ones. P.S. I’m sure John is wondering, yes for the time being, I do live in Cary, the Containment Area for Relocated Yankees.

I really enjoy listening to The Polite Society Podcast. I listen every week and always check for new podcasts during the week. The DGU’s are very interesting and there are only a couple of gun shows that even discuss items like this. As much as I enjoy the show, I do have a couple of suggestions for making it even more interesting.

I would love to hear you have Dr. John Lott on the show and just let him discuss facts about gun deaths, crimes and state laws in America. It seems like every time someone has Dr. Lott on their show they only allow him to answer specific questions and then rush him to provide an answer. I always get the feeling that he had much much more to discuss, but show times didn’t allow him to speak.

If the show time doesn’t allow for Dr. Lott to discuss the details of his research, then make the time, extend the length of the show or make it a two or three part series. I’m sure that other subscribers/listeners are just as interested in his research as I am and this would provide a lot of information for gun owners to use in conversations with those on the fence about guns. I think that Massod Ayoob would be just as interesting. *** Just ask them a question or two to get the conversation started and then turn them loose.

Another guest that I’d love to hear from is someone like Michael Bloomberg or the leader of Mothers Against whatever. ** It would be interesting to hear just how people like this think and/or process information. I wouldn’t allow them to misstate the facts about guns, as a matter of fact it would be good to hear how they actually handle the facts.

These are just suggestions about shows that I believe would be highly listened to podcasts and quite possibly make national news that could put “The Polite Society Podcast” in the must listen to podcasts of many people.

Thank you,

John – We have had Dr. Lott on the show a while back. Perhaps it is time to get him on again.

Sean – GET GAIL!

Rachel- Wanna find out “how they actually handle the facts”? Sounds like they handle facts by avoidance…ignorance is bliss?

John – I’d love to have Shannon Watts on to explain why she opposes campus carry when her daughter goes to a school where they have campus carry.

We also got an email from Clayton

Hey folks, I heard y’all begging for emails so I decided to pipe up and educate you a bit.
While Minnesota did drop several states from our recognized reciprocity, (we only recognize permits that include live fire in the class qualification) we have been making large breakthroughs in pro gun legislation. We are moving in the right direction at a pretty good pace! While California is sliding deeper and deeper in the opposite direction.
We have no magazine capacity limit, no ammo purchase limit, no limit on number of firearms carried, our permit allows rifle and shotgun carry, no thumb safety requirement, no god forsaken bullet buttons, and we can even carry guns in the woods without a permit.
(It literally says “in the woods” in the statute. Ha) There are A LOT of hunters here.

Minnesota just legalized suppressors, hunting with them, and stripped the government from the ability to confiscate weapons during a declared emergency. (We didn’t even know they had that power since we have no earthquakes or hurricanes! Apparently a legislator snuck it in around May)
We stripped the requirement to notify the Capitol of intention to carry on grounds too. There is no language in our laws about open or concealed for our carry, so I like to open carry for comfort, speed, and to be a pleasantly polite ambassador to the public for responsibly armed citizens like us.

I know those are common things for Southerners but I just wanted to remind you we aren’t as Liberal as the “Twin Cities” want you to believe. We have nearly 200,000 issued permits here and it’s growing fast.
I’m proud to be an NRA member, (an unnamed organization) permit to carry instructor, and (an unnamed number of) guns owner!

John – Now why doesn’t MN recognize NC because we meet their class and shooting requirements.

Gary – Rob can’t be with us but he is still writing. He posted yesterday about the train shooting in France. You can see that post at John you have a new post this week right?

Seg 2- News

Paul- that establishes a so-called gun free zone, US District Court Judge R. Brooke Jackson ruled that the shooting in the Cinemark Theater in Aurora, Colorado was foreseeable. He said, “Although theaters had theretofore been spared a mass shooting incident, the patrons of a movie theater are, perhaps even more than students in a school or shoppers in a mall, ‘sitting ducks’.” With that he denied Cinemark’s motion to dismiss the many lawsuits against it which now will go to trial. Cinemark had contended that the mass shooting in Aurora was “legally unforeseeable”.

Gary- . This is the lesson that a Chicago-area man with an Illinois Concealed Carry Permit is learning the hard way. Ali Ozturk, 34, had tried to enter a bar in Albany Park on Monday night. The bar had a bouncer who tried to pat him down upon entering. He told the bouncer that he worked for the “Officers Div. of Adult Institutions” and then flashed a metal badge that he later admitted he got off of EBay. Ozturk was arrested a short time later at a nearby pool hall after a witness told police he was trying to impersonate a police officer. He is now in Cook County Jail under charged with that and under a $150,000 bail.

Rob- comment- Not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

Paul- on Thursday. Bloomberg has pledged $50 million to help get gun control candidates elected in November and Moms Demand is pressuring Kroger to bar law-abiding citizens from openly carrying guns (even where doing so is legal under state and local law). Emanuel himself has secured gun control measures that ban gun stores in 99.5 percent of Chicago. Which means law-abiding citizens have only “about half a percent of Chicago’s geographic area” in which they can buy a gun for defense of self, family, and property. According to the Chicago Sun Times, Emanuel is now defending Bloomberg from a growing backlash against the former NYC Mayor’s effort to control Americans’ lives via gun, food, and soda bans. The backlash was most recently exemplified by an NRA ad which calls Bloomberg out by name. On August 21 Emanuel tweeted supported for Bloomberg, combined with support for the gun control group he funds as well. He wrote, “I stand with Mike & the Moms!”, and then sent a second tweet in which he wrote: “No leader has done more to help end gun violence than Michael Bloomberg. He deserves our praise, not the NRA’s shameful attacks.”

Rachel – Living in a nanny-state changes one’s perception of “safety”. That is the only conclusion one should draw from now that concealed carry is legal in Illinois. This finding coincides with the rise in crime in the Windy City. support for Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy was dropping sharply as compared to the previous year.

Rob- Comment It is called a push poll. “Do you feel safer or less safe now that citizens are allowed to carry guns in the city and crime is up?

Paul- This is the same shooting range that has been set up in 48 other states. Charles Paidock made his displeasure known in a letter to the editor published in the State Journal-Register of Springfield, Illinois. He had gone into the Conservation World pavillion at the fair. He says, “I expected the usual stuffed-animal exhibits and information on hunting licenses in Illinois, but I did not anticipate a traveling operation with no other apparent purpose than to inculcate children on how to use guns.” Mr. Paidock was disturbed by this and made his displeasure known to both fair officials and the Illinois Dept of Natural Resources.

Rob- This guy is trying to mainstream his hoplophobia.

Rob- The financially-troubled group may be merged into the . The survival of JPFO was in doubt after their spring fundraising drive raised hundreds of dollars rather than the tens of thousand needed to keep the organization alive. Some JPFO members fear that JPFO will lose its character under SAF.

SAF founder Allan Gotlieb said “They approached SAF. We said yes because it is important to the pro-gun rights movement to keep JPFO alive and make it grow. JPFO and SAF will issue news releases when the merger becomes final late next week or the following Monday.

JFPO will get a new board of directors and function independently. In the past we have absorbed KeepAndBearArms.com and Doctors for Responsible Gun Ownership and kept them running as they were before coming under the SAF umbrella.”

Well-known libertarian author Claire Wolfe who was a contractor for JPFO begs to disagree and went public with her disagreement on Friday night. In , she contends any merger of JPFO with SAF would be a sell-out of founder’s Aaron Zelman’s vision.

Quoting author David Codrea, “The inescapable conclusion is, had gun owners stepped up and supported a group struggling after the passing of its founder, its rescue would have been unneeded.

Gary- D.C. City Council Chairman Phil Mendelson told FOX 5 on Thursday that he will appeal the gun carry ruling, making the information public for the first time. “The whole issue of the public carrying of a firearm is very complicated,” Mendelson said. “And I believe the executive and the attorney general will continue with the appeal.” Also this week, the city asked the court for six more months to rewrite its gun laws. Right now, the city has until October 22. That’s why Mendelson said gun carry will be at the top of the agenda when the city council returns from recess. “What the court said very clearly was that a complete 100-percent ban on anybody being able to get a license to carry a handgun was unconstitutional. But there’s a gray area between 100-percent ban and everybody can carry. And that’s what we’re working through.” … (My take: The District – which already has a more onerous requirements merely to register a handgun to be kept in the 中国体彩官方app than most states impose for carry permits – is stalling and hoping that it can get away with a carry-permit system as restrictive as Hawaii’s. On top of that, it will seek to ban carry in so many venues as to make lawful routine carry impossible.)

Comment- Delay, deny, and obstruct.

Rachel- In Texas, blacks are protesting police violence in a particularly Southwestern way: By invoking their right to open carry. On Wednesday, more than 30 members of the newly-formed Huey P. Newton Gun Club gathered to march through South Dallas with rifles, shotguns, and AR-15s. The group eventually entered a restaurant with their weapons while Dallas police officers were inside eating lunch. “The recent murders of unarmed black, brown, and whites across the United States of America has eradicated trust in the police,” the gun club’s website states… (Of historical interest, California’s 1967 Mulford Act – which banned the open carry of a loaded firearm in a “public place” – was a response to the openly armed “Black Panther Police Patrols” in Oakland. Governor Ronald Reagan signed the bill after about two dozen Black Panthers, armed with rifles and shotguns, attempted to enter the Assembly chamber in the State Capitol. At the time, Reagan commented,“There’s no reason why on the street today a citizen should be carrying loaded weapons.” )

Rob- The Clark County prosecutor said Tuesday he will dismiss a firearms-related charge against a Vancouver man who said he was merely taking Vice President Joe Biden’s advice on how to defend his property from car prowlers. Instead, the man will be prosecuted for obstructing a police officer. Jeffrey C. Barton, 53, made international news when he told journalists: “I did what Joe Biden told me to do. I went outside and fired my shotgun in the air.” That is a reference to the vice president’s answer to a question in February 2013 about 中国体彩官方app defense. Biden responded that Americans don’t need to own semiautomatic weapons because a couple blasts from a shotgun will scare off intruders. Barton’s comment, dubbed the “Joe Biden defense,” was circulated widely among Second Amendment activists, and also landed a two-minute segment on “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.” …However, the firearms charge will be replaced with a charge of obstructing a law enforcement officer, Golik said. Golik said ethical guidelines prevent him from discussing specific reasons for the new charge… Barton said Tuesday that the new charge also is groundless. “Tony Golik is desperately grasping at straws to keep his ass out of a civil suit, which he’s going to get anyway,” Barton said… (Not being an advocate of “warning shots,” I’m not ecstatic to see Uncle Joe’s cockamamie advice given any legal standing. Recall that Uncle Joe also advocated firing a shotgun through a closed door, at an unseen target.)

Rob- comment- Aren’t obstructing an officer and resisting arrest, and disturbing the garbage charge that keeps the police from being charged.

Paul- Last week a Maryland District court judge said modern semi-automatic rifles are only used for offense. That is why these firearms are not protected by the right to bear arms. Now it is clear that some citizens are more equal than others. . The local police chief said modern rifles were necessary so police could engage targets out at 150 to 300 feet and to penetrate soft body armor.

Rob- Comment- These are only offensive weapons if YOU have them. School Resource Officers are different.

Gary- Comment- It must be the blue polyester uniforms.

Rachel- I’ve said before that you are an ambassador for the gun culture, and you are are our secret weapon. Well here is to you and this story is to your credit. I’ll wait until the end to tell you where the story came from. A major media company ran a video segment on women in the shooting sports. They noted that women form a new and growing segment of the shooting sports. The number of women target shooting has grown by 70 percent in the last 10 years. Women have also taken up hunting, with 3 million women taking part each year. Women are involved in every aspect of firearms ownership, not simply self-defense. The stereotype that the NRA has scared women into buying guns is false. Here is the best part- the article appeared on

Comment- Would someone look at the thermometer and check if it is snowing in hell.

Rob- In my own backyard, a California State University San Marcos faculty member was surrounded by SWAT cops for open carrying.. that is open carrying an umbrella on campus.

It rarely rains in California, but it did this morning. Someone called the San Diego County Sheriff’s office to report a bald white male, wearing a black shirt and jeans and walking across campus carrying a rifle. This resulted in a for some 400 staff and students going through new student orientation. Faculty and students huddled behind doors barricaded with tables and chairs. Thirty minutes later the umbrella-bearing teacher figured out he matched the description of the alleged gunman and he contacted police to arrange his surrender.

Comment- Hoplophobes never check for ability, opportunity and demonstrated intent. We are raising a generation of paranoids and law enforcement who feel justified shooting someone if they carry something that could remotely look like a firearm. We need to fight for hearts and minds.

Rachel comment – if only they had a CATI-California open carry group to help show them what rifles actually look like, so they didn’t confuse them with umbrellas.

Rachel- A 中国体彩官方app invasion ended in gunfire in a east Harris County [TX] apartment Thursday morning. Deputies were called to a shooting at the Saddle Ridge Apartments on Woodforest just before 7am. Sgt. Gary Harrison says during that 中国体彩官方app invasion, the man who lives inside the apartment shot one of the suspects in self-defense. That young man was airlifted to Ben Taub Hospital. Three suspects were involved. One other was taken into custody. The third fled the scene once gunfire erupted. Investigators are looking into whether these suspects were responsible for any earlier incidents in the area.

Gary- A 73-year-old Lilburn [GA] woman shot through a door as a burglar approached her bedroom and then she chased him out of her house, continuing to fire, according to a police report…According to a report on the incident obtained by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Thursday, Douglas said someone rang her doorbell around 9:45 p.m. on Aug. 3. She looked out her bedroom window and spotted a truck parked nearby in the middle of the intersection of Falconhurst Drive and Hewatt Road. Douglas called 911 and waited. Moments later, however, she heard glass shattering and then the pottery she placed in front of her backdoor breaking so she grabbed her gun. According to the report, Douglas stayed in the bedroom but she “could see light from a flashlight getting closer from under the door. When she heard the doorknob turn, she fired one shot through the door. “She then heard a scream on the other side of the door and the subject fled downstairs. Douglas went downstairs and saw the subject in the kitchen looking for the back door. She fired several more shots in the general direction of the subject as he ran outside.” While detectives were still investigating at Douglas’s house, Jamie Christoper Lewis showed up at the Eastside Medical Center in Snellville with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the chest. He was charged with burglary… (All’s well that ends well but I’d have waited until he opened the door.)

Paul- An Ashley Avenue woman told police she fired her gun at two teens who tried to rob her at her 中国体彩官方app Wednesday night. Charleston [SC] police responded to the woman’s 中国体彩官方app at 1311 Ashley Ave. about 10:20 p.m. and found several bullet holes in the wall and window, according to an incident report. The woman told detectives she was getting out of her car with her child in her arms when two teens with guns approached her from the rear of the apartment building. The teens ordered her into the house. Once she was inside, she ran into her bedroom, put her child on the bed and grabbed her gun, the report says. She walked into the living room where the teens were standing and started shooting, prompting the teens to run out the door. No one has been arrested, Charleston police spokesman Charles Francis said..

Rob- A jewelry store employee shot at a suspected robber Thursday afternoon at the Asian Garden Mall. The incident occurred around 12:25 p.m. inside Tick Tock Watches in Westminster [CA] Two men wearing ski-type masks and hooded sweatshirts entered the store, then used a hammer to break glass on a display case. They then grabbed the merchandise. One witness reported that one of the men may have been armed with a gun. A store employee pulled out a weapon and fired two shots at the robbers. The robbers fled the store, possibly with some merchandise, but police don’t know whether either was struck by the gunfire..

Gary- This is a tragic news item with a message. A San Bernardino policeman remained in a medically induced coma today. 31 year old Patrolman Gabriel Garcia, 31 was in extremely critical condition in Colton, California. Garcia is a highly commended, six-year veteran of the department who has spent much of his career on patrol duty. His father, Ron Garcia, is a captain with the department. Garcia and his partner- a trainee on the job for just two months – stopped to talk to a group of people standing outside a 中国体彩官方app on a cul de sac when one of group pulled a gun and opened fire. Officer Garcia was struck three time. Garcia’s partner fired at least 30 rounds and wounded the gunman. The 38 year old assailant died at a hospital. Two other men at the scene were arrested and jailed. One was held on suspicion of attempted murder, possession of an assault rifle and possession of a sawed-off rifle. Another was was arrested in connection with outstanding traffic warrants.

Rob- Here is a take-away: criminals don’t fight fair. Several people attacked these officers. The average number of people involved in an assault or strongarm robbery is 2.3 against one. The defending officer reloaded and kept firing to neutralize the threat.

Gary- Comment- tell me again why a single citizen in California only needs 10 rounds to defend themselves?

Rob, do you have any new posts you want to mention?

Rob- I wrote about some proposed California gun laws. It turns out the new gun violence restraining orders have an unusual provision. These restraining orders can deny access to “sensitive areas”. Think about that. We know our legislators are crazy and are clearly a danger to themselves and others. That means we can put their sanity on trial and

Gary D – Headline – Police Bust Local Man on Felony Gun Charges – I’m sure you’re thinking good they got another bad guy off the street. But, wait. A FFL and a very vocal gun rights activist gets food poisoning so severe that he needs to be intubated in the hospital. Of course anybody who is intubated must be restrained so they don’t hurt themselves pulling the tube out of their throat. According to hospital policy anybody who is restrained has a mandatory meeting with the psychiatrist. Mandatory treatment means bye bye FFL, which I understand he has spent 6 figures in legal fees trying to get back, bye bye Illinois concealed carry instructor certification, bye bye Illinois FOID card. I don’t know what evidence was used, possibly facebook pictures of a personal gun collection, but two search warrants were issued for the man’s business and for his 中国体彩官方app where three handguns, two rifles, 1800 rounds of ammunition and some reloading gear was confiscated. Over the years he has ruffled a lot of even pro gun feathers in blog posts and on social media. Now he is being vilified for doing nothing wrong until the last minute when he didn’t immediately relinquish all of his guns after his FOID card was revoked, all because of comments made on social media. Be careful what you post.

Paul- It looks like there is a fight going on in Miami, and some good advice inadvertently is coming out of the policemen’s union From the

MIAMI (WSVN) — Miami-Dade County could end up with hundreds of police officers losing their jobs in a budget proposal made by Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez, Tuesday.

“This is it, start of a long-term budget strategy that will help us avoid yearly budget crises,” said Gimenez during his announcement of the 2014-2015 budget proposal.

The budget cuts close to 650 county jobs to fill a $64 million hole in the general fund. Miami-Dade Police could see the largest cuts if certain concessions are not made by the local labor union. “If we get no concessions whatsoever, then you’re looking at about 250 police officers,” said Gimenez.

If police department cuts are made, officers from administrative posts would likely shift to the street and certain specialized units that deal with robberies and child abuse cases could see positions vanish. “One of the directions I told the director was that I wanted to have the same number of patrol officers in the street that we have today,” said Gimenez.

The Miami-Dade Police Benevolent Association fired back after the proposal, saying public safety is paramount and these proposed cuts will have a negative impact. John Rivera, president of the Miami-Dade Police Benevolent Association, said, “If the mayor’s not going to provide security, then my recommendation, as an experienced law enforcement officer for nearly 40 years, is either buy yourself an attack dog, put bars on your windows and doors and get yourself some firearms because you’re going to have to protect yourselves. We won’t be able to.”

Rachael: Jeff Knox reports in WND.com that the USA Today has started running full page ads paid for by Bloomfield press. That is the publishing company owned by Allan Korwin. He provides many of our gun quotes. The full page ads relate what you hear each and every episode here, Defensive gun uses. These are almost never seen in places like the USA today. Korwin plans to keep running these from time to time in the USA Today and expand them out to other papers and media outlets as well. Good on you Allan, keep it up! Please check out the show notes for this episode to find a where you can help him keep these ads going.

Matthew: Miguel Gonzales reports in his blog that an interesting study came out last week. The study by Garen J Wintremute was a look to find out just how many attempts were made to “straw purchase” a gun. I am going to direct you to Miguel’s blog if you want all of the details including how the numbers were reached, but the end result of the study comes out that of all attempts to buy a gun in 2011 (the year the study was in effect) one half of one percent of all attempts were illegal or only about 1 in every 200. It looks to me like the law is working.

Paul:Former New Orleans Mayor and member of Bloomberg’s MAIG or as I prefer Mayors Against Good Guys Owning Tactical Stuff (MAGGOTS) – Thanks to Chaz Murray of the Roadgunner podcast who I stole that from- Ray Nagan was sentenced this week to 10 years for corruption. He was convicted on 20 of 21 counts of bribery, wire fraud, tax evasion and other crimes earlier this year. Former Mayor Nagan was in charge in New Orleans when Katrina hit and is largely responsible for the gun confiscation debacle that happened during the catastrophe. I sincerely hope that Mayor Nagan goes to a real prison and not a club fed.

Gun Quotes

Gary : I have a couple of gun quotes for you:

–Bill Cosby

–Bill Cosby

If this is the prevailing anti-gun mindset, then I understand why they believe that the government should keep our guns out of our hands. Of all the gun owners I know, have trained and trained with, none of them have this mindset.

On a more positive note, we have a quote from of all people t,

America is a country中国体彩官方app founded on guns. It’s in our DNA. It’s very strange but I feel better having a gun. I really do. I don’t feel safe, I don’t feel the house is completely safe, if I don’t have one hidden somewhere. That’s my thinking, right or wrong.

(Brad, Since I know that you have more houses than just in California, and I think that if you were to ask the LA county Sheriff if you could have a CCW he would grant you one in the MAY issue state of CAlifornia I would suggest that is it far safer to carry the gun on your person than to have one hidden away where you may or may not be able to get to it.)

Jackson Mississippi Police are looking for a third suspect involved in an early Thursday morning 中国体彩官方app invasion and shooting.

JPD Public Information Officer, Colendula Green tells us three suspects broke into a 中国体彩官方app around 2 a.m. on Myrtlewood. Police say the 中国体彩官方appowner used his gun and fired several shots.

One person was hit in the head and taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries. A second person was found shot in the chest behind a house across the street several hours later.

Police say that suspect is also suffering from life threatening injuries. The third suspect is still on the loose. (One suspects some training here. One chest shot and one head shot out of 3 suspects)

WISN out of Milwaukee tells the story of a carjacker that wasn’t so successful. The 15 year old criminal tried to carjack one person earlier this week. When the victim realised that he was being targeted he hit the throttle and started to drive away. The young punk fired at the victim, who drove himself to the hospital after being struck in the jaw by a bullet., Injured but alive and still in possession of his property. The next day the young Obama supporter (not in the story but added by Paul) decided to try, try again. This time he picked a woman who has a CCW and was carrying. He is in Serious but stable condition in the hospital and is facing multiple felony charges.

Gary D: DGU #3

On the last show Rob and John talked about a DGU that took place in Chicago I wanted to address that a little more — Obviously there was an argument going on and then someone went into the house came back out and started shooting. I hope what is taught in every concealed carry and self-defense gun class is first try to de-escalate the argument even if this means leaving the area. Second, the time to escape was when the guy went into the house not after he comes back out shooting.

I am the John from San Antonio who took the Appleseed training with Rachel and called into Gun Talk. I am a pediatric orthopedic surgeon and am trying to advance gun rights in my little corner of Texas. My area of concern is that Texas state law mandates that hospitals and nursing 中国体彩官方apps must post the state designated signs to prevent concealed license holders from carrying on the premises. As we both know, this turns hospitals into victim disarmament zones. Unfortunately, hospital administrators are not willing to allow staff to carry. This is allowed under state law.

I also presented a resolution to our county medical society board to remove gun free zones. They voted it down 22-2. I have been in communication with Timothy Wheeler, MD from Doctors for Responsible Gun Ownership to help me with the medical community. Unfortunately, he has run into similar problems in the past. On a better note, I have organized some Introductory pistol courses for medical staff. I got a couple of good instructors to do them for me. You might recognize their names: Bob Mayne and Ben Branam. The first course we got 12 students including the 16 year old daughter of a physician and one of the doctors who voted against the resolution at the county medical society. We’ve scheduled the next one for September. I’ve also personally taken over 20 new shooters to the range in the past year and am going to take the NRA Basic and Pistol instructor courses next weekend. I’m also hoping Rachel will help me when the next legislative session convenes in 2015.

I hope to meet you at GRPC in Chicago.

Thank you so much for your tribute to your little dog. I am so sorry for your huge loss. You especially touched me, as my doggie, Shuggie, 11 pounds of poodle love, is about the same age, with a similar history, and I thought I was going to lose him on July 1st. The previous night, he had collapsed 4 times in a 10 hour stretch. But, he recovered over the next few days and has rebounded this past week. I know the end is near for him, and I, too, dread the rapidly approaching day. Your experience is touching, and your words were comforting. Thanks.

Seg 1- Personal news from each participant
Rob- Dry practice with my SIRT pistol and handgun on Independence day.

John – We had family in town from Missouri yesterday and we all enjoyed the various displays of fireworks. They also brought me a T-Shirt from the MO Univ of Sci & Tech where my nephew is think of attending. The shirt said, “My mascot carries a gun” on the front and “Does Yours?” on the back. The school’s mascot is an old miner with a six-gun on his hip. I love it!

Paul – We have brought up our dog Dakota several times on the show. This week she left us. On the day she left us Dakota was 14 1/2 years old exactly. Is seems to me that one of the cruel tricks that is played on us by God, or Mother nature, or w中国体彩官方appver you believe in is that while humans have a lifespan that lasts 75 years or so our companions have life spans that are about 1/5 of that. I got 中国体彩官方app this morning and we got a call from the Veterinarian’s office saying that her ashes were back, and we brought her 中国体彩官方app.

Those that have had a 4 legged family member know the pain that Susan and I are going through. Dakota came to be a part of our family when she was 6 month’s old. She had been abused by her prior owner, and it took a lot of work for her to trust men, but after several months and a ton of love she finally trusted me and eventually she became comfortable around all adult males.
Like any canine family member Dakota took it on herself to be the family’s guardian, confidant, and occasionally troublemaker. She gave so much and all she ever wanted or expected in return was our love and attention. Those 2 things we poured on her. She was always our “Puppy” and “our baby girl” If you ever want to know what unconditional love is just get a pet like our little puppy. It didn’t matter what kind of day you were having, or if something wasn’t going right, or if she wasn’t feeling the best, we were the very focus of her entire existence always.

I posted that we lost Dakota on facebook Tuesday stating something to the effect that if I earned a spot in heaven and our Dakota was not there I would move along and find her because if she wasn’t good enough for heaven than I definitely had no place there. Thank you to everyone who replied offering kind words. There are 2 that I would like to bring up specifically. First Ben Cook said “If my animal friends are not in heaven, I’ll be sure to leave a trail to where I find them so that you can find us all there

Second there were several references to a poem called the rainbow bridge. If you all would indulge me I would like to read this short poem

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. Her bright eyes are intent; Her eager body quivers. Suddenly she begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, her legs carrying her faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together….

Seg 2- News

John 1- Gun-rights advocates won another victory in Chicago. The original lawsuit was filed in 2010 by an Illinois offshoot of the National Shooting Sports Foundation. That battle isn’t over. Richard Pearson, executive director of the Illinois State Rifle Association, anticipates a legal challenge to the city’s new rules regulating gun stores out of 99.5 percent of the city. He said, “The ordinance is prohibitive. If you look at the hidden costs of opening a gun store, I don’t know how a person could make a living selling firearms in the city of Chicago.”

Rob 2- There was another victory for the right to choose armed self-defense. This allows adult students to attend school and remain armed when they work those late night jobs. Contrary to the public claims of school administrators, negligent discharges remain extremely rare. This is another small step toward self-protection in Florida.

John 3- A Kansas open carry bill went into effect on Tuesday. Captain Rance Quinn of the Kansas City Police Department said they will still respond to calls of man with a gun, but the department will change how they handle the encounter. Quote “…How are you doing today. I see that you are exercising your right to bear firearms. Is there anything I can do for you today?”

Rob Comment- Why yes, officer. May I buy you a cup of coffee while we talk about your department sponsoring more firearms training for the general public?

Rob 4- The attention seeking anti-gun Virginia State Delegate, Joe Morrissey, once carried an AK-47 onto the Virginia statehouse floor. A special grand jury charged the Virginia politician with supervisory indecent liberties with a minor, electronic solicitation of a minor, possession of child pornography, distribution of child pornography and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Comment- He was only following Bill Clinton’s example.

John – This is the same Joe Morrissey who as the State’s Atty for Richmond was disbarred for among other things, fist fights in the courtroom. Why is that anti-gun activists are so violent?

John 5- Here is a good example from law enforcement, and from a small police department at that. Police Chief Michael Combs found out there were no firearms safety courses offered in the county, so The department will host a classroom and firing range sessions at the Goodwill Fire 中国体彩官方app on July 19th. Pennsylvania is a shall-issue state and there are no training requirement for ownership or a carry license. I think the Chief’s decision makes citizens safer!

Rob Comment- Thank you, Chief Combs.

Rob 6- Some gun-grabbing activist groups tell you that real women want to be helpless. Not me. I’ll remind you that the number of women who own guns has been rising rapidly. Those guns are not gathering dust. A growing number of women are at the range and taking classes. Women are on the cutting edge of self-defense. I offer as example of the students I see and the students of our frequent guest Kathy Jackson.

Rob- There is a list of women’s gun groups on my blog site

John 7- We’re not sure if it was on purpose or an accident. On the first of July, a poorly written law in Mississippi exempted disabled military veterans from paying some hunting and registration fees. Unfortunately, the law it required veteran submit to a disability review by the Veterans Administration. Many veterans will decline that opportunity, thank you. It isn’t clear how the bill will be implemented by law enforcement. Gun owners need a strong state organization that takes a critical look at legislation. This legislation may have taken Mississippi back to “may issue” status.

Paul 8- This probably wasn’t the answer they were looking for. asking, “Do you think people should be allowed to carry guns in public?” 84 thousand people answered. 88% chose “Yes! The Second Amendment guarantees the right to carry in pubic. Another 4% chose “Only for self-defense.” and 8 percent said carrying a gun is too dangerous.

John Comment- I didn’t know MSNBC had 84 thousand viewers.

John 9- Because of changes in the Georgia gun laws, while at church. An Episcopal bishop in Georgia said he will forbid concealed carry in church. Other congregations have accepted concealed carry. Pastor Tom Rush said, “Quite frankly, we may have some people in our church that are uncomfortable with the idea… You know, I grew up in a day when we left the sanctuary doors open so people could come in at any time and pray. Unfortunately, we don’t live in those days anymore.”

This is part of a larger social trend of our culture splitting into isolated tribes. Honest gun owners have had to choose which stores to enter based on the store’s no-guns policy. Now that decision includes churches as well.

Rob- This issue isn’t confined to Georgia. I live in California. Last year a nearby church took an anti-self-defense petition to a city council. The church’s public statements sounded inclusive, but their claims were wildly inaccurate. I asked to speak with the church committee but they ignored me and never returned my calls.

Rob 10- The bill requires police to proactively confiscate firearms and hold them for one year with no due process based solely on an accusation made by an immediate family member, a law enforcement officer or any health professional.

The person filing the complaint only has to believe quote “the gun owner poses a significant risk of personal injury to himself, herself, or another by having under his or her custody and control, owning, purchasing, possessing, or receiving a firearm.” close quote. One anti-gun doctor could declare all California gun owners mentally unfit.

John Comment- so will every vindictive divorce lawyer.

Rob Comment- We commented last week on California’s failing grades for mental health treatment. They aren’t doing any better this week.

Paul Gun Quotes- The American Revolution was a beginning, not a consummation, said by President Woodrow Wilson.

Seg 3 Interview with Kathy Jackson and Frank Fiamingo

Questions for Frank
Frank, earlier this week Governor Christie vetoed the magazine capacity bill that was on his desk, could you talk a little bit about that?

Are there any other bills related to gun rights that are still on his desk?
Why are gun owners blamed for violence?
Politicians want a soundbite solution.

What else is going on with the NJ2AS?

Questions for Kathy

Thanks for coming on Kathy, It’s been a while since we were able to have you on for a long form interview and I am so happy that we found a hole in your schedule so that you could join us tonight! I would like to discuss a few of the more recent blog posts. The first one that I would really like to cover is one you titled “Strength and Weakness” where you talk about a the recent Miss USA pageant winner and her take on self defense, in reference to a Larry Correa post. Could you talk a little bit about that?

Another post that I really liked was one of your shorter posts from late May entitled “He Didn’t Deserve That” One unfortunate side effect of our society is that everyone seems to be suing for everything. I thought that this post was quite illuminating in that it seems to have spread to some sectors of public opinion. Could you talk a little bit about that post?

Rob- Kathy, in one of your posts you said You’re never disarmed. “Your ultimate resource for self-defense are the things you carry inside yourself.” Would you tell our listeners more about that?

Guns and alcohol?

Rob 1- Two young men walked into Marlene’s jewelry store in Fresno, California. The two men looked at the display cases and slowly moved towards the cash register in the back of the store. That is where one of the thieves pulled out a gun and pointed it at one of the store employees while demanding cash and jewelry. . The unarmed thief yelled “shoot them” as he dropped and ran towards the door, but the armed thief turned and followed his cowardly compatriot. Both young thieves were caught on video and are very lucky to be alive.

Paul 2- Thieves tried to steal a vehicle parked in front of a 中国体彩官方app in Wasilla, Alaska. When that failed, they tried to force their way inside the 中国体彩官方app through the kitchen door. She missed, but the criminals turned and ran. They were long gone by the time state troopers arrived.

Citizens are the first responders, either as witnesses or as victims.

John – comment – if the 中国体彩官方appowner was a few years older, I might have guessed it was my first cousin Ginny who lives in Wasilla!

John 3- This man is my hero. A Centralia, Washington man and his girlfriend were sitting in their living room when a 中国体彩官方appless 43-year-old stranger entered their 中国体彩官方app armed with a knife. The 中国体彩官方appowner grabbed his shotgun and ordered the intruder out of the house. They both walked outside, but instead of leaving, the intruder pushed the 中国体彩官方appowner down a flight of stairs on the back porch. The intruder then grabbed a machete sitting on the porch and approached the 中国体彩官方appowner. Rather than shooting his attacker, d and holding him there until the police arrived. The 中国体彩官方appowner preserved the life of a drug addled man. Sheriff Steve Mansfield said. “This is another example of why citizens need to take all possible precautions and be prepared if something like this occurs.”

Do you have that much restraint after getting pushed down the stairs?

Rob 4- Well your hero has some competition. My hero is Orlandous Brown who suffers from cerebral palsy and needs a wheelchair. Orlandous came 中国体彩官方app Thursday morning in the company of his friend Latisha Vernon and Latisha’s 17-year-old daughter. That is when he discovered that someone was already inside his Easly, South Carolina 中国体彩官方app and was robbing the place. The thief was armed, but so was Orlandous. Latisha and her daughter fled the 中国体彩官方app and called 911. Deputies moved the women a safe distance away, and entered the 中国体彩官方app a few minutes later.

Orlandous was transported by ambulance to the local hospital where he underwent surgery and is expected to make a full recovery. Police believe Orlandous may have been targeted because he is disabled and the dead intruder thought he was an easy target.

Comment- The thief thought wrong.

Paul 5- There is no way and no reason to pretty this up. Gun control kills. . The murderers told the couple to kneel. They shot 17-year-old Cheyanne Bond in the head execution style. Her boyfriend survived. The money Bond’s family had set aside for the teenager’s tuition at nursing school will go toward her funeral. The crime rate in New Jersey has exploded since gun-prohibition was enacted in the late 1960s. Now, long time politician and anti-gun Newark Mayor Ras Baraka has the murder rate he worked for.

Rob- On Friday I went to a friends house to load the software, and we had a ball shooting my SIRT gun.. in his living room. this is a combination of laser tag with a decent trigger and magazine change. We had a setup where we could shoot at a paper target to the right, and used a full length mirror to shoot the same target off to our left. Its is all done with mirrors.

I shot an IDPA match in Alpine this morning too. Paul, how many hours do you want me to use up talking about all the fun I had? Steel on a live range is noisier than a laser . So is shooting from inside a truck. It is a pain in the rear to try and maneuver to shoot out the back window of a truck.. but fun. Got to move. Got to shoot. Got to shoot targets that move. Used the sights and also shot from retention. 230 grains of fun from my 1911.

Rob- Comments – Didn’t the Second Amendment Foundation win similar cases in other states.. in New Mexico for instance? Now the North Carolina treasury will pay for the legislator’s laziness.

Gary – On Thursday, US District Court Judge Marcia Krieger capacity to 15 rounds. In her , she said “”evidence shows that large-capacity magazines are frequently used in gun violence and mass shootings.” She also said that more competent defensive shooters need fewer rounds to hit their target – or standard – capacity magazines. Judge Krieger, in a footnote, also confuses the AR-15 with the M-16. As has become the unfortunate norm among many Federal judges, Krieger used the intermediate scrutiny standard to make her decision.

Rob- Comments – It sounds like this judge knows nothing about firearms or the criminal use of firearms in a crime.

Matthew- of the US House of Representatives have signed an to House Speaker John Boehner demanding a vote on gun control measures. This is about 80% of the total number of Democrats in the House. Given the timing of the letter, it seems this group of legislators think that gun control is a winning topic for Democrats despite a majority of Americans being opposed to more gun control.

Comments – John – I say, yes, please let’s make gun control an issue. We need more pro-gun Congressmen and women and this will help mobilize gun owners to get out and vote.

Comment- rob- These politicians are placing their campaign bets. They think the bad publicity they get for supporting gun control will be offset by fawning press coverage and campaign donations from anti-gun groups.

Paul – The National Shooting Sports Foundation just released The $48 billion spent by hunters and shooters is responsible for 866,000 jobs and a total economic impact of $110 billion. The amount spent is more than the annual retail sales of companies like Coke, FedEx, and Disney. To put it in even greater perspective, the number of jobs – 866,000 – would make it the world’s 7th largest employer. The data used in the report comes from 2011 statistics. Imagine what it is now after the post-Newtown boom in sales of firearms and ammo.

Rob- Comments – Don’t ask me how much I paid for the venison I put in the freezer.

Rob- Ducks Unlimited used to put in duck ponds and graze areas.

John – Back in March, a legal concealed carry permit holder saved the life of the manager of Keith’s Superstore in Lumberton, Mississippi by stopping a thief in the act of stabbing the manager. He did so without firing a shot and held the thief until police and EMS arrived. Fast forward 3 months. It now seems that the owners of on the door of the store and were quite rude when asked about it.

John- Comment – I wonder why they haven’t posted “No Knives” signs on the door instead.

Rob – Listen to this and hear your future. Clark Aposhian could be said to be Utah’s top gun lobbyist.. and he had his guns taken away after a domestic dispute with his ex wife. Aposhian was charged with disorderly conduct, domestic violence in the presence a child, criminal mischief, and threats of violence.. All this for sounding an air horn in a residential neighborhood. Aposhian was arrested last year after he drove his “deuce and a half” military surplus vehicle to his ex-wife’s house to pick up his daughter.

Quote “I’ve been cleared of all these untrue and unfounded allegations. I’ve been vindicated. It’s unfortunate it took over a year to have that happen, at a great cost taxpayers and Cottonwood Heights, as well as at a great cost to myself.”

Last June a court ordered that Aposhian could not possess any firearms in light of a protective order filed against him. Aposhian said Monday that the protective order has been dismissed and

Matthew – Comment- You and I hear days in court.

John – Comment- Yeah, Lawyers hear the cash register ring. I am still confused on why divorce lawyers practice “family law”.

Rob Comment- One of my friends used to thrill the little boys in the neighborhood when he drove his grandson to school in the company dumptruck. That was not harassment and domestic violence. This sounds like a couple conducting lawfare on each other using their lawyers as blunt instruments.

Paul- We talked about Washington DC’s new domestic violence gun ban a week ago. Well, we told you so.

Matthew- Law enforcement officers , and trying to control that is not only difficult for the victims but potentially deadly, experts say. The trouble lies in the very nature of police work. One of the hallmarks of a good cop is to radiate authority and control, and in the wrong hands, those characteristics can be misused and lead to domestic intimidation and violence.

Gary- I’m sorry but the police are not there to save us. after two bodies were found along a rural road in southeastern Wisconsin earlier this month. One of the bodies was identified as a woman reported missing late last year. A West Allis man, 52-year-old Steven Zelich, was taken into custody in the death investigation. Police identified Zelich as a former West Allis police officer. The second victim found locked in a trunk alongside the road has not been identified.

Why Paul is not in Illinois getting trained for his CHL. Illinois has restrictive requirements for reporting out of state crimes, so does not allow out of state residents to apply for a permit to carry. It could easily expand the requirements to include Mental health reporting, Domestic violence reporting, Debts, Driving infractions, DUI reporting, and Definition of felony versus misdemeanor convictions.

John -1 . So she went 中国体彩官方app and retrieved .38 revolver. That decision probably saved her life. A robber came into her health foods store with a knife and announced that this was a robbery. After going behind the counter and forcing the register open, he held a knife to Doyle’s chest. Doyle had previously served as a Philly police officer and a Secret Service agent. She credits her training with saving her life.

“I just went into a mode like this is what has to be done,” Doyle said. “One of us is walking out of the door and it’s gonna be me.” She shot the unidentified robber in the torso and called police. The unidentified robber was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced DOA. Doyle didn’t regret her actions. She said “It might have saved somebody else because he looked like he was on a mission. So, if it wouldn’t have been here, it may have been somewhere else.”

Rob- This police officer knew she had to be armed or be lucky, and she decided to be both armed and lucky that she was.

Gary- I get this comment in class often, “I only carry if I’m going some place dangerous”, I try to dissuade this opinion.

Rob – Two men are in the hospital following an attack in Chino Hills, California. At about 2AM, Raiveon Wooden broke into the 中国体彩官方app of his ex-girlfriend and her parents. He hid in the garage. When the girl’s father went to investigate noises in his garage, Wooden attacked him and stabbed him multiple times. Fortunately, Both men are being treated for non life threatening injuries. Wooden faces charges of burglary as well as attempted murder.

Rob: John do you want to mention anything off of your blog you would like to talk about?

John: I did a post today on the world’s most powerful handgun. Today marks the 100th anniversary of the day that Gavrilo Princip assassinated Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria. That was the spark that set off WW1. We often refer to pistols with calibers less than 9mm Luger or .38 Special as “mouse guns”. that was used to start WW1.

Rob- I’ve been on that bridge and read the report of how Franz Ferdidinad’s security detail was pulled from the motorcade.

Paul- Rachel is busy saving Texas at the largest political convention in the world, the republican party convention in Fort Worth, Texas.

Rob- I went out to the desert to shoot my Mosin Nagant. The mojo sights work, but they swim in the desert heat. I really need a limbsaver butt pad. I have a rubber pad, but I come 中国体彩官方app looking like my shoulder went to a bar fight and got stepped on. I hit a rock behind the cardboard target and turned it to gravel. I have to bed the barrel to get minute of accuracy, but I’m at minute of pig already.

I had fun asking a dozen firearms instructors about guns and alcohol. Their answers will make it into the midweeks show’s tips and tricks segment.

I signed up to coach at an NRA Women on Target event.

John – About the only thing I did gun related since Wednesday was look at the empty spot where .22 LR ammo used to be at WalMart. I spoke to the clerk who said they hadn’t had any in for the last 3 weeks. However, we have a new Dicks opening up on Friday and I plan to hit it when it opens even though they waffled on the 2A after Newtown.

Seg 2- News

Rob- There are rules for the rich and famous, and there are separate rules for the rest of the students at Brown University. Actress Emma Watson graduated from Brown this week. Sitting next to her was a personal bodyguard wearing a cap and gown.. So far, so good, except this is a gun-free zone. Providence Rhode Island police and Brown university confirmed that the bodyguard was not working for them. This means you get to break the law if you are one of the rich and famous. This means campus security will call out the SWAT team and arrest you if you are a young woman working late nights delivering pizza while carrying a sidearm for personal protection.. unless you can afford your own private security detail. I have no problem with the bodyguard carrying firearms. I have a problem with Brown denying self-protection to everyone else. When asked, spokesmen for Brown University and Watson’s publicist

Comments- Is this what it boils down to? We’re too important to arrest, and we can cause you more trouble than you can cause for us.

Paul- Governor Eddie Calvo The bill covers all weapons including firearms, grants a permit for three years, and requires a written excuse for denial. Guam was covered by the 9th circuit courts Peruta decision. The territory of Guam joins the 40 states who are already shall issue. Too bad for the ten who are slow to learn. Six states allow bureaucrats to arbitrarily deny concealed carry. They are Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York.

Comments- Rob, I’m coming to respect the legislators in Guam a lot more than I do the legislators in California where I live.

John- The power to regulate is the power to destroy. That is why banks have to listen when the Department of Justice under Operation “choke point” advised banks to refuse accounts to certain business.. businesses such as firearms and ammunition dealers. Also targeted were porn stars, payday lenders, and online lending. The DOJ took a FDIC memo about “high risk activity” and started issuing subpoenas improperly under the a section of the Financial Institutions Reform, Recovery, and Enforcement Act of 1989

That is what happened to Mark Cohen, the owner of Powderhorn Outfitters located in Hyannis, Massachusetts. The company had done business with TD Bank for years, but were denied a line of credit even though their finances were good and their credit history was spotless.

Comment- Rob- so the federal government is for sale and each party in power gets to abuse everyone else. Well that stinks and we should take away Barack’s phone and his pen.

John- The US House of Representatives took steps in that direction on Thursday when they t.

The amendment was brought to the floor by Rep. Blane Luetkemeyer, a Republican from Missouri, who is a member of the House Financial 中国体彩官方app Committee and is vice chairman of the House Small Business Committee. The amendment was sponsored by three democrats and two more republicans. The voice vote came as part of the debate on the annual spending bill for the Justice Department and needs Senate approval to become law.

Rob- Two House Democrats Representatives Mike Thompson (D-Calif.) and Ed Perlmutter (D-Colo.) want to prohibit

gun purchases and firearms ownership to those convicted of misdemeanor stalking, as well as those receiving involuntary mental health services on an outpatient basis. Both categories would go into a newly formed FBI database.

*** Comments- Good that a conviction is required rather than merely the accusation of stalking. The accusation of stalking is often used as lawfare during divorce.

Bad that the legislation will scare people away from seeking treatment for mental health conditions. Note that you need not be found to be a harm to yourself or others, and the category could be misused to include someone who was hospitalized for an unfavorable drug interaction.

Rob- That is exactly what has happened to some California gun owners.

I did not see an appeals process once you are on the data base, nor if the ban was temporary or applied for a lifetime.

Paul- So the government that can’t find 10 million illegal aliens says it will find 100 million firearms. Yhep, that’s true even though law enforcement was called by the killer’s parents and his mental health counselors who were worried he was suicidal.

Comment- Rob- According to California legislators, the cure to fix big unresponsive government is more laws and more government.

John- The Louisiana legislature passed, and Governor Bobby Jindal signed into law a . This allows farmers and ranchers to hunt nongame animals with suppressed firearms. Think of a rancher shooting a predator like a coyote at dusk when he doesn’t want to frighten his herd. He also doesn’t want to scare off the second predator. Montana is the only state that forbids using suppressors to take nongame animals.

Rob- I always wondered why pig and coyote hunters didn’t use suppressed firearms. I’m sure the farmers and their neighbors appreciate it.

Paul- Life is hard.. but it is harder when you’re stupid. The chain of Sonic drive-through restaurants proudly announced that it is a gun-free company as of last Friday. They asked their customers not to carry, and the corporate management forbids their employees from carrying on premises. Within hours, one of their employees was

Comment- John- Maybe gun free zones are dangerous.

Rob- Doctor John Lott asked the question, “How can we prevent mass murderers?” We have part of the answer from the Santa Barbara murderer himself. This crazy man spent over 18 months meticulously planning his attack. His 141-page (link to searchable PDF) makes it clear he feared someone with a gun could stop him before he was able to kill as many as he wanted. Here is one section where he considers when and where to attack.

Quote “Another option was Deltopia, a day in which many young people pour in from all over the state to have a spring break party on Del Playa Street. I figured this would be the perfect day to attack Isla Vista, but after watching Youtube videos of previous Deltopia parties, I saw that there were way too many cops walking around on such an event. It would be impossible to kill enough of my enemies before being dispatched by those damnable cops.”

He told us that mass murderers fear honest men with guns. That is why the murderer attacked disarmed citizens in a “gun-free” zone next to campus.

Comment- John- Yhep, gun-free zones ARE dangerous.

John- The Santa Barbara murderer thought women were supposed to act like pornstars and sleep with him. His “manifesto” documents how much he hated the women who wouldn’t. Wanting to shame both men and firearms in one lie, the anti-gun group Moms Demand Action made up data and said that US women make up the vast majority of those women killed with firearms. Doctor Lott dug up the real data and called the Bloomberg group a bunch of liars.Lott chart woman percent

Comment- Rob- Please support Doctor Lott’s Crime Prevention Research Center I did.

Paul- Here is our daily gun quote, and this one is by Ann Coulter. She said, “The most crazed religious fanatic argues in more calm and reasoned tones than liberals responding to statistics on concealed-carry permits.”

Segment 4 DGUs

Paul and Gary discuss Vinnie.
Rob- This DGU was e-mailed in by listener Scott Gibbons. I’ve met Scott, so thank you.

A 28 year old marine veteran sat down to lunch in north Harris county, Texas when he noticed two men dressed in hoodies with bandanas over their faces running from a GameStop video center. They were stuffing cash, video games and X-boxes into their car trunk. The marine walked out to his truck when one of the robbers pointed a gun at him. The marine has his Texas Concealed Handgun License and was carrying. . The second criminal simply turned and headed the other way. Bystanders reported the criminal stripping off his hoodie and bandana as he ran. The first robber died at the scene while the second was picked up by police in a nearby shopping center.

Police investigators released the veteran after questioning. He was not hurt but was still shaken up by the experience. Bystanders said, “This is our neighborhood and I just want to say thank you. My kids go in that Gamestop.”

John- Three men knocked on an apartment door early Thursday morning. The resident answered her door in the Laurel Ridge Apartments of East Point, Georgia. The men claimed they were with the East Point Police Department, and they tried to force their way into the apartment when the women cracked the door to look. One of the intruders had a gun, but the resident was ready with her own handgun. Police captured the injured teen, but his accomplices escaped.

Neighbors were glad their neighbor was armed.

Comment- The neighbors were tired of the crime.

Paul- This DGU couldn’t happen to a nicer guy. On the west side of Detroit, two criminals were robbing and beating their victim late Monday night. One of the criminals was busy pistol whipping the the victim when The Detroit News doesn’t report if the wounded criminal died at the scene or was transported to the hospital.

Comment- Rob- They pass a handful of new laws if a nut shoots white kids in California. Then the media and legislators yawn about brown people getting shot in Detroit and Chicago.

Paul- mag 40 and the bucket list

John- I’m wearing my CalGuns Tee in honor of their latest lawsuit against Kamala Harris. I’d like to also like to remember those who have died in the service of our country中国体彩官方app. Without their sacrifice – and that of their families – we wouldn’t be the nation that we are.

Rachel- Last weekend, I visited the Silencer Shop here in Austin along with a friend who was picking up a suppressor he’s been waiting for five or six months. This week, a friend suggested I take a stress-relieving trip to the range (brilliant) – but the best I’ve been able to do is to wear my T-shirt that says “Bullets Make Me Happy” and dream about shooting cool guns.

Rob- I’m now an NRA pistol instructor. That was a long 2 day course, but it definitely changed my attitude. I took the course so I would be consistent and teach my friends. I changed my mind because I don’t want to be an average instructor even if I only teach a few friends. That means that I have to go back and unpack the class notes I just crammed. I have my reading set out for me for the next few weeks as I study and re-study the material. Second, we learn to teach by teaching. That means I have to work with and watch better instructors if I’m going to do justice to my students. I have to apprentice myself.

In the class I met a guy who makes custom holsters, so I have three new kydex holsters and mag pouches on order for my 22 handguns.

Today I visited a brand new firearms store with a laser training simulator in my town.

Rob- Have you guys seen the new episode of Colion Noir’s interview show called Noir on NRA Freestyle TV? It stars Colion and Amy Robbins. . I’ll watch a few more episodes.

Comments- Why is this program about pop-culture and firearms important?

Paul- A murderer near the University of California at Santa Barbara walking, biking and skateboarding in the beach community. The murderer acted in a way that was similar to the threats he posted on a YouTube video posted that same night. Seven people were killed in all, including the shooter.

During the statement by the murderer’s family’s attorney, it was revealed that the family is staunchly anti-gun and support gun control laws. Quote “This country中国体彩官方app, this world, needs to address mental illness and the ramifications from not recognizing these illnesses.”

Comment- Where have we seen this before? Arapahoe High School, Colorado

Comment- and resent their social awkwardness do a lot of damage when no one can stop them.

Comment- gun free zone in a “won’t issue” California county.

John- We told you about the Hinsdale Illinois eagle scout who was suspended for a day after he wore a shirt with an outline of a gun that advertised his shooting team. Highschool senior Chris Borg spoke at the school board meeting. Both the school board and the school administration were evasive enough to make my stomach turn. The from Borg’s record.

Comment- Why is it important to publicly ridicule anti-gun bureaucrats?

Rachel- Remington Arms is This includes its line of Bushmaster rifles and its 1911 handguns. Federal legislators like New York Senator Charles Schumer and New York Governor Cuomo endorsed gun control, and then claimed it wouldn’t cost jobs. It looks like the New York politicians were wrong again.. not that they care. Ilion New York is closer to the Canadian border than it is to New York City.. and probably didn’t vote for them anyway.

Comment- Why does this matter to New York gun owners and New York voters? Why does it matter to the rest of us outside NY?

Rob- Kamala Harris also said she did not want to be part of the Peruta case.. until the gun grabbers lost the case. Originally Gore said he wanted to hand out carry licenses, but the law prevented it. Then he said he would obey any decision handed down by the courts. Now he says he wants someone else to appeal the case. Sheriff Gore’s changing his story doesn’t surprise me at bit. The only amendment Gore supports is the fifth.

Comment- What is the political cost if an incumbent Sheriff lies to his constituents?

John- This is what happens when corrupt anti-gun politicians can “interpret” the law in Colorado. Sara Warren has her carry license. She was in a traffic accident and the police collected her firearm from the EMTs. Now, Sara can’t get her gun back because the Fort Collins city attorney won’t give it to her. First the city attorney said they needed a background check, so Sara gave them all the information they needed. Then the city attorney said they needed an FFL, so Sara brought along a police officer she knew who was an FFL and who would transfer her firearm back to her. The anti-gun city attorney threatened to prosecute any officer who transferred the firearm to Sara Warren.

The police are allowed to temporarily hold a firearm for 72 hours without a transfer. They should have returned her firearm at that time.

Comment- Who is politically responsible for these decisions? (The mayor or city council appointed Steve Roy as City Attorney.
Why is this important to Colorado gun owners?
Why is this important to all Colorado citizens?
Should Sara have reported the firearm stolen since it was taken by extra-legal means?

Rob- How many of you have heard about Doctor John Lott? He wrote the books on guns and crime. Books like “more guns less crime” and “The Bias Against Guns.” Dr Lott digs out the anti-gun lies and destroys them root and branch. I’ve read three of his books and shaken his hand at the GRPC conferences. Dr. Lott started a research institute about guns and crime, and he wants to fund the institute with crowdsourcing. Bloomberg dropped a few million dollars on a university so the purchased professors would spew out the anti-gun research papers that Mayor Mike wants. Until we find the billionaires for liberty, you and I have to fund Doctor Lott. I said we. I did. His effort is called the Crime Prevention Research Center on Indigogo. Here is the

Comments- Why is accurate research important to the right of self-defense?

John- Just because the Brady Campaign has been made largely irrelevant by Michael Bloomberg’s money and Everytown Moms for Illegal Guns trouble. On Monday, . If the AG attests that a “smart gun” has been either offered for retail sale or that a manufacturer has delivered a production model of one to a FFL, then the 3-year clock starts. After that time ONLY “personalized handguns” will be allowed to be sold in the state of New Jersey. The timing of the filing of the suit came a day after Ernst Mauch who is the head of Armatrix had an op-ed in the Washington Post about “smart guns”. While it could just be a coincidence, that is highly unlikely.

Comment- Rob- The legal tactic is called sue and settle. A politician finds a special interest group to sue the state, and then the state offers no defense. The presiding judge dictates the terms of the settlement.

Comment- What problem is the smart gun supposed to solve?
Comment- Why are LEOs exempt from the smart gun law?

Rachel – in Sacramento Superior Court. Harris has recently issued a new interpretation of a long standing law in California which would limit those who have a FFL and a Cal DOJ Certificate of Eligibility to one handgun per month. This impacts those who have the Curios & Relics FFLs and a DOJ certificate. Harris is saying the exemption in the law to the 1 handgun in 30 limit is only for C&R handguns and not more modern handguns. Attorney Bradley Benbrook says this blocks individuals from exercising rights granted to them by the Legislature. The case is called Doe v. Harris.

Comment- What is the problem with Attorneys General adopting their own interpretation of standing law?

Paul- versus simply grabbing public attention. The Denver-based company has traditionally complied with local laws regarding open and concealed firearms. Guys, I’d ask you to carry concealed or carry smart.

Other . “Dunkin’ Donuts and Baskin-Robbins restaurants are owned and operated by individual franchisees who are required to follow all federal, state and local laws with regard to firearms,” said a Dunkin’ Brands spokeswoman.

Rich Jeffers, director of communications at Darden Restaurants, the parent company of Olive Garden, Red Lobster and LongHorn Steakhouse said “Our approach has always been that we abide by all local and state laws.”

McDonald’s spokeswoman Lisa McComb said: “For franchisee-owned restaurants, operational decisions regarding open carry weapon laws are made by the independent franchisee.”

Comment – Shannon Watts and her minions are trolling the Internet looking for pictures of open carry in Texas. It doesn’t matter if it hasn’t been done in a year, she’ll try to make an issue of it. She posted year-old pictures of OC at a Smashburger even though they had to stop allowing open carry last year.

Rachel- Here in Texas, several calling their members to be responsible and wise as they exercise their right to open carry firearms. I applaud them for this self-regulation. Their new policies are designed to keep their stated mission in focus, and include instructions to notify law enforcement, use slings, leave a business quietly without a problem when asked to, and, when carrying inside a business, try to keep to local small businesses that are 2A friendly. While the by the open carry groups, I see it as moving forward. Regulating themselves responsibly is a wise, strategic move as they present a positive image of gun ownership and bearing of arms to the American public.

John- The Pit Authentic Barbecue restaurant in Durham, North Carolina was the . Three masked men with pistols entered the back door, assaulted a couple of employees, and got away. NC Gun Blog points out, “The robbers had all the power. No one could resist them. Why? Because the owner of The Pit Authentic Barbecue has banned guns in his restaurant.”

Blogger Sean Sorrentino also states, “I am very glad that no one was seriously injured. But everyone involved needs to face one very important fact. They were not murdered only because the robbers did not decide to kill them.” It appears that the restaurant owner was making an intentional political statement with his gun-free zone. Last year, his restaurant hosted part of Gabby Gifford’s anti-gun tour. Looks like the robbers made a statement of their own.

Jack in the Box fast food restaurants issued a similar no-guns policy for company owned stores, and

Comment- Are gun-free stores safe for anyone?

Stores have to properly post their no-guns policy in accordance with state regulations or the signs don’t have the force of law.

Rob-This is the season of primary elections. That means we’re sure to be disappointed, but it also means we have to take joy in other’s successes. In West Virginia, a 17 year old high school student ran against a sitting state delegate. Sara Blair is graduating from high school later this month and Sara describe herself as a fiscal conservative who is pro gun rights, anti abortion and pro business. She is expected to win the election in the fall.

Comment- Why is it important to have young pro-gun politicians in office?

Paul-Voting along party lines, the Democrat controlled New Jersey legislature sent Governor Chris Christie a bill limiting firearms magazine capacity to 10 rounds or less. There is neither a grandfather clause in the bill, nor is there a provision for reimbursements so citizens can make their firearms comply with New Jersey law. The law isn’t clear if the magazine capacity is only determined by the standard ammunition used in the firearms, since 22 shorts can be loaded into a tubular magazine as well as 22 long rifle cartridges. Of course, the restrictions to not apply to law enforcement officers.

Comment- This is cultural cleansing of firearm owners from New Jersey. The Democrats want firearm owners to leave the state.

Rob- Gun Quotes

Rachel- Don’t mess with Texas, and certainly don’t mess with 17 year old Samantha Mayhue’s who lives in Cypress, Texas near Houston. There have been half a dozen car break ins this year on this otherwise quiet street. That explains why there are dual electronic locks on the front door at Samantha’s 中国体彩官方app. She still thinks someone would have to be crazy to try and break into her house where a Texas flag flies on the driveway. She heard someone try her front door before the alarm sounded. Samantha went straight for her father’s Glock and called the police.

“Everyone knows we have guns in here. Daddy taught me right. I wasn’t afraid to do what I needed to do. I was going to pull the trigger and aim for the chest and keep pulling it until the 17 rounds out of my dad’s Glock 19 was gone,” Mayhue said. Luckily,. Samantha Mayhue wants to be a tactical firearms instructor in a few years.

Comment- Does disarming a young lady make her safer or put her at risk from others?

John- when he tried to hold up a south side liquor store late Friday. Authorities said Anthony J. Williams, 47, was shot in the pelvic region as he struggled with a female clerk over possession of a handgun. Williams entered the liquor store about 11:15 p.m., pretended to have a weapon and demanded cash from the female clerk. The clerk believed Williams was trying to grab a handgun that was behind the store’s counter. A struggle then ensued between the clerk and Williams, ending when the gun discharged, seriously wounding the would-be bandit, police said. Williams was transported to IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. Police at first thought his wound was potentially life-threatening, but later reports that his condition is believed to have stabilized..

Comment- Rachel, this sounds like having a gun under the counter is as ill advised as purse carry. Why not carry on body?

Rachel- Back in Houston Texas- A man was walking through an apartment complex late Wednesday night when he was approached by a man who demanded he surrender his wallet and cell phone. The victim felt threatened enough to draw his concealed handgun and open fire on the suspect. , but still managed to run to a waiting getaway car. He was picked up by police at a nearby hospital. The suspect was in surgery early Thursday morning. Police don’t expect to file charges filed against the robbery victim.

Comment- Robberies, like other accidents, happen where we are, and we are often near 中国体彩官方app.

John- and unharmed after burglars tried to break into his 中国体彩官方app Tuesday morning. The same cannot be said for one of the burglars. 20 year old Rodney Hanks Junior broke into a 中国体彩官方app Tuesday morning with a gun and a knife. The 中国体彩官方appowner shot him. His fellow burglars were seen leaving the scene and are still on the loose.

Sheriff Brendell Wilkins said they are not releasing the name of the 中国体彩官方appowner for his safety. He went on to add regarding the 中国体彩官方appowner, ““They were breaking into his house; you’ve got the right to defend yourself. The suspect had a gun and a knife.” That is a sheriff who gets it.

Paul- Don’t bring a crowbar to a gunfight.. at least in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Nathan Simmerson and four other masked men broke into a 中国体彩官方app Tuesday night. Simmerson went upstairs.. where he met the armed 中国体彩官方app owner. One of the downstairs victims yelled for the 中国体彩官方appowner to come down with his assault rifle.. and the four downstairs robbers fled. Simmerson tried to run but was tackled by the residents and held for police. Simmerson says he doesn’t know the names of his accomplices. I noticed that the papers already had his picture on file.

Gary- Don’t bring a baseball bat to a gunfight either. A Toledo, Ohio woman and her boyfriend were attacked by a man wielding a bat Monday afternoon. The boyfriend was struck on his arm with the bat. The woman has her concealed carry permit and drew her pistol from her purse as the attacker moved toward her. The attacker drove to the University of Toledo Medical Center in a private vehicle seeking treatment for gunshot wounds to his legs.

Comment- How quickly could you react to an attack?

Paul- More from Struthers, Ohio this last Wednesday. Two teens entered a Sami Quickstop convenience store just after midnight in this Youngstown suburb. One of the teens raised a rifle and pointed it at the store clerk. The criminal fired and missed. Both teens ran from the store. The teen gunman is in the hospital while his accomplice is in juvenile detention. Both face charges for armed robbery.

Comments- What would you do if you were in the store?

John- We have more, and it’s not from Houston, Detroit or Ohio. I hope you’ve heard about the 300 young Christian girls taken as slave by the Islamist group Boko Haram in Nigeria. Note that civilian ownership of firearms is forbidden in Nigeria. Thank god some villages break the law. Several villages armed themselves and counter attacked against Boko Haram. They claim to have seized 90 motorcycles, several heavy trucks, and to have One villager was quoted as saying that they would kill the terrorists themselves since the army wasn’t doing its job. Note that defenders typically have a three-to-one advantage over attackers.

Comment- Is this any different than the problem faced by citizens of New York or Chicago of a few years ago?

Gary- 24 year old Victor Navarro walked into the HealthMart Pharmacy in Hialeah, Florida, a suburb of Miami, just after noon. The 24 year old demanded Xanax and was turned away by the pharmacist. Victor Navarro came back to the pharmacy and pulled up his shirt showing a handgun, and again demanded drugs. This time the pharmacy manager, 70 year old Angel Navarro Betancourt, no relation to the victim, . The young man was said to have a severe drug addiction.. and the gun in his waistband was a BB gun.

Comment- Threatening people will get you killed.

Paul- Here is our listener e-mail segment. This one is from listener Rob

-Hi guys,
I hope I can help end the spitting match over Facebook likes with the Polite Society. I’m a big fan of both polite society & slam fire radio podcasts. As a U.S. citizen I’m partial to my American podcasts. Buuuuuuuut, my wife of 10 years is a Canadian citizen. I obviously like Canadians too. I listen to both Trevor’s podcasts for the content, hosts and because I enjoy the accent. You know what I’m talking aboat, eh?

So let’s get down to reality and accuracy with the Facebook likes. I really enjoy Paul, Rob & Rachel but Slam Fire Radio is ahead by a long shot.
The math is very simple. Polite Society has more Facebook likes but when you factor in 236 vs 57 episodes and a population approximately 300 million vs 30 million. Slam Fire is kicking some serious Facebook ass.
I’m just say’n
Hudson Valley, NY
Ps. One good thing about Canadian gun laws is, it makes my New York State gun laws look pretty awesome.

Rachel-Here is another e-mail from listener Rick.

-Hey, guys
When Paul returns you will have to give him time to recover from Mag40. He will be mentally drained, physically exhausted and amazed at all the new like-minded friends he made.
Oh, and he’ll be saying “I digress” a lot.
Still listening.

John- Rob(?) do you have an article you want to talk about?

Rob- I have an article on Clash Daily and Ammoland. It is called and it came from the news stories we read on this podcast.

Rachel- John, do you want to mention anything off of your blog you would like to talk about?

John- One hiker is dead and one in critical condition after being robbed and shot while hiking in Tehama County, California. Neither were armed. The robber asked for their property and then killed Pat Gregory, 69, of West Tisbury, MA. His 76 year old companion was left for dead on the trail and is in the hospital. People ask why you should carry while out hiking and communing with nature. This is why you carry!

Comment- What is the moral of this story? You can’t guarantee your safety by complying with criminals.

Seg 1
Personal news from each participant
Rob- Took some friends through dry practice and room clearing. Yes, we taught slicing the pie and the fatal funnel of doorways. After that exercise with finger guns, they understood why you call the cops to investigate a bump in the night.. and why the police send in dogs. Shot a steel match this morning. Traded guns with a friend who was having problems hitting the target. I’m sad to say the problem wasn’t the gun.

Seg 2- News
John – in June to do “other things”. Glaze had previously been the director of Mayor Bloomberg’s Mayors Against Illegal Guns since 2011. He helped to orchestrate the merger of MAIG with Moms Demand late last year. Glaze said it was time for him to hand the fight off to someone else.

While there is no word on a successor, speculation centers around John Feinblatt who previously was the chief advisor on gun control issues while Bloomberg was still in office. Of course, they could always go with Shannon Watts which would make many in the gun-rights community happy given her proclivity for both lying and making errors.

Rob- Paul has a speech, a lecture, a tirade, a tear. He is about to espouse, advocate, lecture and pontificate. Here is his rant.

Paul – Although not gun related Chris, one of our regular contributors of feedback sent us a link that he thought we would be interested in. For those of you who have been long time listeners of the show you know that we spent a lot of time covering the Benghazi attack we have had Anthony Mele on several times to talk about it. and even though we haven’t covered it on the air recently I have been keeping tabs on it. This week emails surfaced that thanks to Judicial Watch were forced by the Obama administration to be made public through a FOIA request. The Administration originally denied the request and Judicial Watch sued and won. The released emails show that the Obama administration was directly behind the changing of the story of the attack being about a demonstration about a YouTube video instead of being what it actually was, a coordinated attack on our consulate. I listened this week to the Fox News feed on Satellite Radio riveted, as Retired Brig. General Lowell testified in the House of Representatives on Thursday. General Lowell clearly stated that there was no attempt to assist the victims of the attack because the State department would not request help. One phrase sticks out in my head “we are trained to move towards the sound of the guns” Our military was refused that action. There was a 7 hour attack. Then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton released a statement at 10 pm Eastern that September 11th, while the attack was still going on. I am not and never have been in the military, but having the limited knowledge of military that I do, there is no doubt in my mind whatsoever that in 7 hours WE COULD HAVE DONE SOMETHING!

Rob- to start the Crime Prevention Research Center. The CPRC’s goal is to counter the bogus anti-gun research that is being funded by major donors such as George Soros’ Open Society Foundation and the Robert Woods Johnson Foundation not to mention money from Michael Bloomberg. on using the Center for Disease Control to promote gun control as a public health issue. The Indiegogo funding will let Professor Lott hire additional research associates, gather data, and continue research on topics central to gun debate. $500,000 would fund Professor Lott’s the Center for a full year.

This research will help counter the lies pushed in the mainstream media by our opponents who would willing curtail both our gun rights and our civil rights.

Rob- I’m in. Let’s give a shout out to every listener who contributes?

Rob- Louisiana State Senator Neil Riser sponsored legislation allowing active and retired law enforcement officers in good standing , though they can’t drink or be on medication when they do so. That is essentially constitutional carry. The bill passed the house committee on a voice vote and and is expected to pass.

Yawn, another perquisite of having a badge, but here is why this is interesting. Civilian concealed carry holders are less likely to commit a crime, even a firearms violation, than are law enforcement officers. So if we’re trying to minimize risk, then civilian license holders should be admitted first. Did the Louisiana legislators think of that?

John- You don’t believe Rob? Officer Brendan Cronin, was behind the wheel late Tuesday night when he unloaded on a 47-year-old man who was a passenger in a car that was idling in front of him, striking the passenger 6 times. About three hours later, outside a strip club in Somerset County, New Jersey, NYPD Sergeant. Wanda Anthony fired at least one round at a former boyfriend and his new girlfriend. In this case, no one was hit. Anthony fled in her car and was then pulled over and charged with driving while intoxicated.

Earlier that week, off duty detective Jay Poggi shot his partner through the wrist after each had downed at least 11 drinks in the Rockaways, Queens, New York City.

John- in state court for violating the state of Florida’s firearms and ammunition preemption statutes. The county has refused to change its ordinances which attempt to regulate the possession of firearms and other weapons in certain areas. Included in the Broward County ordinances are prohibitions against the possession of firearms, switchblades, knives, clubs, etc. by common carrier truck drivers.

Florida Carry is . The city’s ordinances prohibit the discharge of a firearm for ANY reason in the city’s parks and recreation areas as well as any place other than areas zoned agricultural that are larger than 5 acres.

Rob- Some local politicians are smarter than those in Broward County and Tallahassee. This week in Idaho, Madison County Commissioners repealed a ban on guns in public buildings as required by state law. The Sheriff’s Office, Madison Memorial Hospital and other public buildings had been labeled as gun free zones. The signs are coming down. According to Madison County Sheriff Roy Klingler, those who plan on committing a crime aren’t gonna be stopped by a sign or some lettering on a door. In fact, putting guns in good hands can actually reduce the likelihood of mass shootings and other incidents.

Well said, Sheriff Klinger.

Rob- because Rachel is working today, I’ll carry this Texas news- of the newly formed Gregg County chapter of Open Carry Texas. The group handed out literature on Texas gun laws. Texas has 254 counties, so there are lots of chapters. This is the fourth activity of the newly formed group in Gregg County.

Rob- John, what about your post “Guns In Schools Save Lives”

Rob- Paul, here are some more statistics for you. Sociologist Andrew Papachristos reported an important fact about Chicago criminals. He looked at arrest records and mapped the individual networks between criminal gangs. That means these few gang members are 12 times more likely than average to assault with a firearm. It turns out they mostly shoot the ones they rob with and are arrested with. That is why gun laws that disarm the general population of Chicago are ineffective, and counter productive. I guess Everytown for Bloomberg money forgot to mention that little fact. I’m glad we’re here to remind them and you.

Paul- Gun Quotes

John- When and then a window breaking at 4:22 AM on Tuesday, he jumped out of bed and looked out to see a kitchen window broken and his garage door open. He then retrieved his revolver and confronted a man standing beside his mint ‘32 Ford Roadster. It was then that Groves realized that he was standing stark naked as he held his revolver on the intruder. And that was the sight that the SDPD saw when they arrived. It was only then that the retired San Diego Fire-Rescue Department battalion chief was able to get dressed. Any comments?

Rob- One of my instructors said the police get pretty good at telling the good guys from the bad guys. Standing there undressed is called a clue you were asleep in bed when the break in occurred.

Rob- Do you remember the Federal Express sorting facility where all the employees were disarmed, including the security guard who was seriously wounded? Well that situation was avoidable. Here is a similar case in Texas where a construction worker had been fired from a work site in the West Campus are of Austin. The worker came back and threatened the foreman, and a police report was filed at that time. Then the fired worker came back with a gun and shot at the foreman. The foreman had Concealed Handgun License and was allowed to have his gun on the worksite. Both men were taken to University Medical Center Brackenridge. The foreman suffered a serious injury, while the suspect suffered a potentially life-threatening injury. Firearms author and trainer Stephen P. Wenger notes that the fatality rate of gunshot wounds in the US about 15%, so being shot does not mean you’re out of the fight.
