Rob- I got my IDPA scores. I placed 12th out of 26th. My time was good, but I have to study the results to find out where I lost points. I plan to shoot Friday with friends.
John – In gun related items, I have been compiling in firearms and firearms related items. While some of these will be over by the time this podcast airs, still check them out. Some continue on into December. I have seen prices really coming down compared to last year especially with the glut of AR-15s.
Rachel- nothing guns or politics, just pies and getting ready for Thanksgiving celebrations.

-It appears at least one shop owner in Ferguson, Missouri decided he wasn’t just going to leave his store for the violent crowds last night. In a recorded news video, a man can be seen walking around inside of a shop Nearby businesses were set on fire, but protesters left this shop alone. We can’t tell if it was the armed shop owner, or if there was some other reason this shop was undamaged. We can say that the shops that were burned did NOT have armed security.

-A few miles away from Ferguson, about 20 men with handguns and AR-15 rifles stood around the perimeter of a small group of stores. About 100 cars had come by throughout the night to check out the mall, but the cars turned away. One of the store owners said, “There’s nothing in this strip mall open, so you’re going to get scrutinized.” The strip mall had been hit by vandals soon after the shooting in August.

-Let me put the growth of firearms for self-defense in perspective. Last year they renewed 800 concealed carry handgun licenses in Orange County California. waiting for initial review and approval.. and the year is not over. The big change was that the sheriff of Orange County now allows concealed carry for self-defense.

Concealed carry in El Paso County, Colorado has been growing steadily for a decade, particularly for women. There were about 900 women with concealed carry licenses in 2005. Now there are

Nationwide, almost 3.6 percent of the total US population has a concealed carry license. That number

-If guns cause crime, then a lot of our guns are broken. 2013 was a record year for gun sales with almost 14 million background checks recorded by the NICS system. During the same year, the number of law enforcement officers shot and killed in the line of duty fell by 40 percent. That great news is part of a broader trend. Violent

-And to also keep things in perspective, 18 people were shot last weekend in Chicago and three of them . That makes 343 people shot and killed, 2003 shot and wounded, for a total of 2346 people shot so far this year in the gun-control city of Chicago. No one with a concealed carry permit has been charged with one of the shootings.

-Some Ohio School Boards are not as bright as others. A school district in Logan County discussed placing guns in schools for teachers and staff members in case of an active shooter situation. The Riverside Local School Superintendent Scott Mann said he hopes this policy could be used as a deterrent from potential threats. Now get this next news. School board members have discussed placing firearms secured in lock boxes around the building. Mann said he wouldn’t support having teachers carrying concealed firearms. “ I do not want guns on teachers in the classroom. I think that’s one of the worst safety plans you can have.”

Mann advocates placing loaded handguns in its seven school buildings with each weapon locked in a box that can

– that were not in compliance with Utah state law. Park City officials made the changes after receiving a letter from the Second Amendment Foundation. That letter informed them that they were not in compliance with the law and promised a lawsuit if things were not corrected. This is part of a 3-year effort to get rid of such regulations that conflict with state law or state and US constitutions.

-We reported last week that the Washington DC City Council was already being questioned for contempt charges after ignoring a judges ruling to issue concealed carry permits to DC residents and visitors. The city council reviewed their licensing plans, and Their big change was to recommend that houses of worship could not allow concealed handguns unless they advertise otherwise. They also revised the appeals board who would review denied applications. DC is set to respond to the contempt charge by December 4th and Attorney Alan Gura is to

-Michael Bloomberg dropped a million dollars setting up shop in Nevada. Actually, he contributed two million, but has only spend half that so far. His anti-rights group submitted signatures to put gun restrictions on the ballot. He had to file campaign finance documents with the Nevada Secretary of State. to the Nevada Legislature in 2015. By law they have three options. Ignore it, amend it with a competing bill, or pass it. If it is ignored or amended, the ballot initiative will be on the 2016 ballot. After Nevada, Arizona is next in the list for Bloomberg.

-The department of social services in Craven County North Carolina is afraid of guns. He asked to have the social services department declared a gun free zone. He already disarmed his employees, but is concerned that the general public may be armed. The county commissioners said they will look at placing in the social services department.

-Another month has gone by, and there is another motion in the 5 year old case of Peruta Versus San Diego. The 3 judge panel denied the California Attorney General’s petition for standing. Now the Attorney General is appealing the panel’s decision to the full court. Said another way.. the attorney general asked for a review of the decision by the full court. Now the AG is appealing to the full court to review the decision that denied her request for a review. Is that clear?

-In the lead up to the grand jury’s decision on Monday, quite a number of residents of the St. Louis area were purchasing firearms to protect themselves from the expected civil unrest. Many of these new gun owners were new to firearms and to firearms safety and had no training. . Sadly, Becca is now dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. While driving with her boyfriend on Friday night, she started waving the pistol around in the car and muzzled her boyfriend. This startled him and caused him to swerve the car. He ended up rear-ending another car and she ended up shooting herself in the head. She died later at a local hospital. Police are conducting forensic tests to confirm the boyfriend’s story.

-This is part of the Polite Society Podcast diet plan to keep you from gaining too much weight of the holidays. Like clockwork, the bloomberg groups have put out that we’re supposed to bring up with our family and friends. Would you like a serving of guilt along with your slice of gun-control propaganda?

comment- I understand it goes well with vegan tofu turkey.
comment- how is that a diet plan.
answer- it makes me sick to my stomach, and I’d feel the same way if someone brought up an anti-rights position at my Thanksgiving dinner.

Rob- We have two Gun Quotes for you today, and they are a study in contrasts.

John- The first is by John Adams. He said “Arms in the hands of citizens may be used at individual discretion in private self defense.”
Rachel- The second reads Quote “One man with a gun can control 100 without one. … Make mass searches and hold executions for found arms.” that was Vladimir Ilich Lenin
Rachel- We’ll be back after this advertisement for Concealment Solutions. Remember that Concealment Solutions is giving away free shipping on this months orders.

-A Tuscaloosa woman has a stalker. He called her earlier in the day and threatened he was coming over to kill her. She when he pulled up in her driveway. The stalker left and then called for an ambulance after being struck in the neck by the shotgun pellets. He was treated at a local medical center where police investigators discovered his history of domestic violence. He was charged with stalking and trying to set this woman’s house on fire last April. Witness confirmed what happened this week, and the stalker was arrested again, charged with third-degree domestic violence harassment, and booked in the County Jail.

-The shop keeper closed the store without a problem. JJ’s corner convenience store is in Jackson, Mississippi. Next the shop keeper pulled the chain bar fence across the front of the store and locked the front door. That’s when he saw someone try to climb the fence and get in. Next the robber came to the back of the store and broke a back window to get inside. when he entered the store. The robber left the way he entered. Security cameras showed the man climb into a waiting car, but he was too weak to close the door. The two criminals drove away and the police have not found the wounded robber.

A 13 year old family member of the shopkeeper was shot and killed in an armed robbery a month ago.

-Two robbers approached their chosen victim at sundown in Birmingham, Alabama. They told the victim to give up his valuables. The victim was armed, and he . Both robbers fled the scene. Police later found the wounded man and transported him to a local medical center for treatment. Birmingham Police do not expect to charge the intended victim.

-A similar thing happened in New Orleans. An armed robber demanded that his victim turn over his valuables. The victim handed over his cell phone. The 22 year old robber, Samuel Sims, demanded more. That is when the intended victim drew his concealed carry firearm and Sims ran away and told a nearby resident that HE was the victim of a robbery. Police and paramedics arrived and figured out the truth. Sims was taken to the hospital. The intended victim is cooperating with police, and we does not face charges for his self-defense shooting.

-An early morning 中国体彩官方app invasion in rural Orange County, Indiana started when the two 中国体彩官方appowners heard someone enter their 中国体彩官方app. They moved their mother into a back room, and then one of the brothers went to investigate. The intruder started a fight. the second brother walked in to find the intruder wearing a hooded sweatshirt with a bandana over his face and holding a knife. The intruder was hitting his brother. That is when 23-year-old Jacob Grimes died at the scene.

Paul – .Susan and I did the Rescue run. It was supposed to be all complete on Monday, it stretched into Tuesday because of weather. Went out the rest of the week and had a good time hanging out with my sweetheart yesterday. Did some dry fire practice yesterday morning and today have been running around a ton. We are getting closer to Shot Show and have been in the planning stage. Susan and I decided that it would be smarter to rent a car and drive down rather than flying this year. we may be doing the same for GRPC next fall.

John – We did a story earlier about the ten worst cities for knife owners. I celebrated that by buying a knife that probably would be illegal in all ten of them! It is a CRKT Heiho folder that I got off of Woot. I also ordered a carbon fiber AR-15 lower from Tegra Arms. It want to do an ultralight build and this will save some weight. I’ll report on it after I get it built.

Rob- Gun Owners of California County meeting on Tuesday. On the “One America” cable news channel Wednesday evening discussing gun rights. That couldn’t have happened without John and Rachel for writing up Wednesday’s show. Had food poisoning Thursday. Shot IDPA yesterday. I need time to dry practice.IDPA draw good speed bad form

-We already knew the Obama administration keeps an enemies list. We already knew they used government agencies to target their political enemies. And anyone who does not support the Obama administration’s policies is considered an enemy. Today we have more proof. CBS reporter Sharyl Attkisson wrote about the US Department of Justice running guns to mexican drug gangs. We also knew Attkisson wrote stories that never saw the light of day because her editors wouldn’t put them on the air. We suspected the news managers at CBS were spiking the stories to please washington politicians. That suspicion was confirmed in a department of justice e-mail.

The e-mail was buried in the 64 thousand e-mails released on the evening before the election. Tracy Schmaler, who headed Eric Holder’s Office of Public Affairs, said Sharyl Attkisson had already hurt the reputation of Attorney General Eric Holder. Even though it was buried in that stack of other documents, this e-mail was probably released by mistake. The e-mail would have been redacted, but Attkisson’s name was misspelled in the e-mail.

-Rob was on TV this week with an anti-rights advocate who claimed guns cause crime. In truth, crime and criminal violence go up and down for a variety of factors. Many of the factors that should cause crime are on the increase. For example, we’ve seen high unemployment, unprecedented numbers of 中国体彩官方app foreclosures, and massive drug-related violence in Mexico. We’ve also seen more Americans choose to own a gun than ever before. Despite those factors, violent crime in the US, including crime involving firearms, has been going down or holding steady. If you hear otherwise, someone is lying.

LInk to Graphics Matter

-This is a followup to a story we reported on in the last episode. from their exhibit entitled “Over the Beach: The WWII Pacific Theater”. They thought that with the passage of I-594 it would have been too costly to conduct background checks to comply with the law. Pistol Annie’s Jewelry and Pawn of nearby Bonney Lake, Washington has stepped in to run the background checks for free. They normally charge $40 per background check.

-Attorney Alan Gura represented four gun owners in the Palmer v. District of Columbia case started in 2009. This week, Gura argued that the District has not lived up to the court ordered obligations. Yes, the district passed new laws that allow for concealed carry, but at the same time, the District made it impossible for the original plaintiffs to obtain gun-carry permits. Quote, “There is no way in the world my clients can obtain a license to carry a gun.” close quote.

Judge asked the lawyers for the District to show him statistics demonstrating that restricting gun-carry to people who have demonstrated a special need has enhanced public safety. Assistant Attorney General Andrew Saindon said he did not have any such statistics.

Judge Scullin then asked the city and the plaintiffs for additional filings on whether

– for an extended stay in the case Sylvester v. Harris. This case involves the 10-day waiting period for firearm purchases in California and its application to certain gun owners who have either Certificates of Eligibility or California carry permits. Judge Ishii had previously ruled this violates the Second Amendment. Harris had tried to argue that other projects had higher priority than fixing the Bureau of Firearms database. Judge Ishii didn’t take kindly to this and said, “The Court does not know how Defendant or the BOF prioritizes projects, but dealing with an unconstitutional law should be towards the top of the list.”

-We reported on the recent change in Pennsylvania law that allows gun owners to sue, and more importantly to collect monetary damages from, cities who violate the Pennsylvania firearms preemption law. The Norristown Pennsylvania city council just repealed a four-year-old law that required residents to report lost or stolen guns within 48 hours. Norristown police Chief Mark Talbot said the revocation would not have an impact on public safety. He said a felon was “unlikely to refrain from doing it because of a local law.”

Several Pennsylvania towns have done the same thing and repealed their gun restrictions.

-Jay Leno was supposed to be the featured entertainment at the NSSF’s State of the Industry dinner. That was before the anti-gun forces including Everytown Moms, Coalition to Stop Gun Violence, and the Newtown Action Alliance got involved. Under pressure from these groups . and not “a pro-gun lobby show”. Moreover, they said he hadn’t received any money. That was a lie as the NSSF had already wired Leno over $80,000 as a deposit.

Listener e-mail discussion

An interesting email from Ken in Arizona.

Paul, again, I apologize for hogging your email, but I keep having thoughts. Here’s my latest one:

Are we, as 2nd Amendment supporters, insane. Are they, as gun-grabbers, insane. You know how they say insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. We keep fighting to restore and preserve the 2nd Amendment, but the forces against us continue, and seem to be gaining strength in a perpetual tug-of-war.

Is it time we realize this fight will continue forever? Is it time we realize there are just some factions in this Nation who will never accept our civil rights, will never accept the 2nd Amendment, and will fight as long as we fight? A never-ending battle. I do have a solution.

Is it time we accept the reality that we have Free States and Slave States? A house divided against itself cannot stand. Perhaps we should not repeat the First Civil War, and rather than enter into a Second Civil War, we should just accept the reality and break into 2 separate Countries? The philosophies of the Liberal/Progressives are so vastly different from ours, I doubt that there can ever be, or will ever be, a reconciliation.

We in the Free States already have the Constitution that we like. It’s the Slave States that don’t like the Constitution and are trying to destroy it. Therefore, we shouldn’t secede. We should kick them out. But, however the break occurs, we are already of 2 separate minds, can’t get along, constantly struggle, and are driving ourselves crazy with a costly fight that never ends.

I know there have been proposals before, and I raise them yet again. Am I completely wrong to suggest it? Or, has the time come?

Ken Silva
Phoenix, AZ
PS If we do break apart, any bets as to which Nation is successful and which fails?

John, do you have anything from your No Lawyers – Only Guns and Money blog you want to mention?

-John – . I noted it was more than just an aging comedian cancelling out. It was another coordinated attack on the gun culture to make it an anathema. We to continue growing the grassroots and take people shooting.

Seg 1- Personal news from each participant

Rob- I went to a county gun chapter meeting for Gun Owners of California last night. That was here in San Diego, County. Rachel, I talked about you. I want my worst to be good enough. I had a TV interview about California concealed carry. That was an hour ago. Does that count? I’m getting a group of friends together to shoot Saturday.

John-My news is boring. I’ve been busy with work so haven’t been able to do any gun-related stuff. That and it is frigid cold here in North Carolina. It was 14 deg. here this morning.

Rachel- In spite of the cold weather, I truly enjoyed the Battle Road pistol course that my friends Mark and Mike taught for my group of friends. Seven of us spent two days at the training together, and it was time well spent. It’s been too long since I actually attended a full pistol course, and it was very good to devote concentrated time to personal improvement.

The 16 gun stores in Los Angeles would be required to digitally report ammunition sale records to the city under a proposed ordinance backed Friday by the Los Angeles City Council’s Public Safety Committee. The rationale behind the ordinance is that it takes police too long to have to comb through the paper records that are now required. LAPD says it has completed a pilot electronic reporting program at gun shops in the San Fernando Valley, and are ready to take the system citywide. If approved by the full City Council, the measure would make it a misdemeanor crime when ammunition retailers fail to comply with the reporting requirements.

-We now have the statistics from the Oregon State Police. They released the data on their background check system for firearms. You can see for yourself that the public isn’t safer after this monumental effort. The state police processed 19,901 background checks in October.

Not one of them was arrested because they were a felon or otherwise prohibited from buying a firearm. Five were arrested, but we don’t know why. Eight people were denied for reasons of “mental health” but, as we have seen in the past, sometimes the police have no idea why these people have mental health holds. None of the eight were taken into custody. Not a one.

36 of the denials resulted in “Investigation Complete, No Action.” So almost 20% of the denials were clearly against people who should not have been denied in the first place.

196 sales were “denied.” Remember, these are the background checks that the anti-rights groups claim will save us from all evil.

-Continuing on with Oregon, it appears that Gov. John Kitzhaber and the Sen. Ginny Burdick (D-Portland) says that “We have a working majority for background checks.” Currently, Oregon requires background checks for sales by a gun dealer or at a gun show. It is unclear if the as of yet unwritten legislation will just cover sales or will include transfers. The effort for background checks fell short in the last session of the Oregon legislature.

-I’m sorry, but the stupid runs deep.. in England. The Lancashire Constabulary is promoting the ‘Save a Life, Surrender Your Knife’ campaign. Lancashire officers have now given their backing to a national initiative designed to raise awareness of knife crime and encourage the surrender of dangerous weapons.

-The ten worst anti-knife cities stand out for their outright persecution of honest knife owners and extraordinarily restrictive anti-knife ordinances, far more severe than even the state laws in those areas. All too often this results in unwary citizens being subject to arrest and prosecution, and loss of their knives, for having a knife that is perfectly legal elsewhere in the state.

  1. New York, NY (majority of pocketknives will result in arrest, aggressive persecution of

knife owners, over 60,000 to date)

  1. Philadelphia, PA (all knives are illegal to carry except when actually in use on the job)
  2. Ocean City, MD (many common pocketknives are illegal, Catch 22 traps many citizens)
  3. San Antonio, TX (all locking-blade pocketknives knives are illegal to carry except on the job)
  4. Rocky River, OH (2.5-inch blade limit)
  5. Boston, MA (2.5-inch blade carry limit, including in any vehicle)
  6. Cleveland, OH (2.5-inch blade carry limit, registration of any sale or gift of a longer bladed knife)
  7. Chicago, IL (2.5-inch blade concealed carry limit, 2-inch blade limit for 18 and under, but

minor cannot legally obtain any knife)

  1. Corpus Christi, TX (illegal to carry any fixed blade knife or a folder with a blade longer than

3-inches except when actually in use on the job)

  1. Aspen, CO (Any concealed knife is illegal to carry in public)

More details on each of the 10 worst cities’ knife restrictions can be found at:

-Continuing on with stupid, the fallout from Washington State’s I-594 continues. because they would be in violation of the new law if they hadn’t performed background checks on the transfer. The firearms were part of the museum’s display entitled, “Over the Beach – The WWII Pacific Theater.”

– We discussed the layoffs at the Remington Arms factory in Ilion, New York last week. The New York Daily News is reporting that that one of the major reasons that they expanded in Huntsville, Alabama was because of “state policies affecting use of our product.” – in other words, because of the New York SAFE Act which forbids the sales of AR-15s made at the Ilion plant in New York State. The Cuomo administration denies the SAFE Act had any impact saying that Remington is consolidating operations from around the country中国体彩官方app in Alabama.

-This is a story of what not to do. They arrived to find three people in the basement of the house. Two were taking turns shooting at glass bottles while the third watched. Christian Clark, 28, and Codie Leslie, 23 were arrested and charged with prohibited use of weapons and reckless endangerment. Police say they had also been drinking.

John – comment – I always thought a basement shooting range would be the coolest thing to have in a house but I wouldn’t be drinking and shooting glass bottles if I had one!

– in Colorado schools. “I’m certainly open to that discussion,” he said during an interview with CBS4. “The ability of people to defend themselves in a world that increasingly looks chaotic (is important). There is not a parent in this state that doesn’t want to make sure we’re doing everything possible to make their kid safe.” This is somewhat surprising given the amount of money he has taken from Bloomberg to sign gun-control laws in 2013 that limited the capacity of magazines and expanded background checks for firearm purchases. Those two pieces of legislation – and the fallout from them – almost cost Hickenlooper his re-election.

-We had John Pierce on to talk about the new constitutional amendment in Alabama. Here is a related story out of Louisiana. Brandon LeBlanc is a human rights advocate and I salute him. Brandon is taking aim at the Abbeville, Louisiana ordinance that forbids carrying any weapon. In particular, Mr. DeBlanc is fighting Abbeville’s anti-gun ordinance.

Because Louisiana is an open carry state and has strict scrutiny review of self-defense, Brandon open carries and started a petition protesting the city’s ordinance. Since then, he has gone to the mayor’s office to try to get the issue on the city council’s agenda. “The response was, it’s going to take more than once person’s demand for it to removed for us to anything about it,” LeBlanc said.

Typically someone has to be arrested before the law will change. If it does go to court because they want to make a test case, then they would claim that they are, that it’s protected behavior under the Louisiana Constitution, and they would very likely win and, at that point, they would strike down that law.”

– for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Attorney General Eric Holder and BATFE Director B. Todd Jones seeking to invalidate the Hughes Amendment. The Hughes Amendment ban the transfer or possession of any machine gun made after May 1986. Ryan Watson and the Watson Family Gun Trust are seeking the injunction. A similar action in Texas was filed on October 30 in the case of Hollis v. Holder. This latest action differs from the first in that Watson is subject to an actual taking resulting from actions performed under authorization of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.. Mr. Watson had sought and received permission to manufacture a machine gun on behalf of the trust. They later rescinded the approval and ordered him to surrender the machine gun.

We think of religious centers as being above our daily problems. We see them as spiritual sanctuary and a place of peace. Carl, is that accurate?

What sort of problems to churches, synagogues, mosques and temples see?
Churches vary enormously. They may only gather a few families on Sunday, or have thousands of people on campus every day.
Focus on the Family
New Life Church in Colorado Springs
Deadly force events in churches are the rule, not the exception.
Any Questions, you guys?
The first mass murder in a church was in 1963. There have been 11 since.
When do pastors recognize the need for physical security? How could a pastor manage the security for a small community like that?
Insurance companies help the churches form their security solutions. Chuck Chadwick has lots of experience. So does Bob Clamser- Crisis consulting international. Dave Grossman.
What sort of events does church security have to handle?
Missionaries often leave vulnerable areas. Missionaries forget the difficulty of working in remote areas.
What was your experience at New Life?
We don’t hear about violence in church very often. How common is that? (your historical data)
How has the religious community learned from your experience? (your book and classes)
Who is leading the religious security movement? (Names, websites, courses)

-A husband and wife returned 中国体彩官方app Friday night in Hartford, Alabama. A group of armed men approached the couple and attempted to rob them. The husband was a licensed concealed carry holder. He feared for his safety and the safety of his wife. He shot one of the robbers in the face. The others fled. The police chief said she did not expect to file charges against the couple.

Note that the numerically larger group would presumably have been able to do whatever they wanted to the couple if the husband had not been armed.

– on Tuesday. The robber first brandished his firearm and then engaged in a gun battle with the customer. Indianapolis Metro Police identified the robber as Tyerre Allen, 25, who had recently been released from incarceration in an Indiana State Prison for – wait for it – robbery. Allen is also a suspect in other robberies in the Indianapolis area. Police have refused to identify the customer who is reportedly traumatized by the whole incident and fears retaliation. Police will be presenting the evidence to the local prosecutor’s office.

– in the shooting death of her boyfriend Felix “Hammer” Williams. Police had found him dead of a gunshot wound when they arrived on the scene. However, Ms. Hopper was cleared after police investigators listened to . Ms. Hopper had called police due to a domestic argument. Williams then threatened her with a gun for calling police. When he put the gun down in another room, she picked it up so he couldn’t use it on her. This enraged Williams who started hitting Ms. Hopper whereupon she fatally shot him.

This is an e-mail from John in Texas.

I have been thinking about the dilemma of what happened in Washington (state) and what’s on tap for Nevada. I was listening to John Lott on Armed American Radio tonight. Dr Lott is calling the money it will take to go through a FFL to do a firearms transfer a tax. We need to equate these transfer taxes to poll taxes. There may be a legal challenge to these transfer laws on that basis alone.

Also the public was duped by false information in their statements and advertisements. Could we pass laws in state legislatures punishing false ads by making the misleader pay for equal advertising time to allow for the record to be corrected. It would also put a restraining order against a law that passes under false pretenses. The state Supreme Court would have jurisdiction over any claims.

. Believe it or not, but Russia has better carry laws than New York, New Jersey, Maryland, and probably most of California. They just amended their laws to include “self-defense” as a valid reason to carry licensed weapons. Politicians in the US should be ashamed that Russians have more rights to carry than many Americans..

-It is with sadness that we report from breast cancer. Anita was a producer, along with her fiancee Kris Koenig, of the 2nd Amendment documentary film The will be held for her on Monday in Chico, California. We knew Anita from her work in the right of self-defense. She also loved the stars. She and Kris produced a film “400 Years of the Telescope”, and together, they ran observatories. Contributions are suggested in lieu of flowers to the Anita Ingrao Memorial Fund at the North Valley Community Foundation to benefit the Chico Community Observatory.

– to ban lead-based ammunition. By a 5-1 vote, the Commission members rejected presented by Paula Brown. Brown is a part-time raptor rehabilitator. She collected the signatures of 53 residents and four letters of support calling for the prohibition. There is no science that links lead ammunition with environmental lead poisoning in either animals or humans.

-What if they passed a gun law, and nobody obeyed it? Washington gun owners plan a rally to defy the newly passed initiative 594. The new law makes it illegal to hand a gun to a friend. They are hoping for to break the law.. peacefully. The civil disobedience protest is at the capitol in Olympia, Washington. Spokesmen for the Washington State police said the protesters with violating I594, but asked them to stay safe and follow the firearms safety rules.

– to be in severe financial trouble. A $10.9 million interest payment is due on Monday may be missed. If they still can’t pay the interest due by mid-December they will be in default on their $248 million bond. Bond holders could then demand immediate payment of the total debt. with the SEC, they are blaming their “liquidity problem” on a decline in demand for the Modern Sporting Rifles and handguns. Colt Defense is the parent company of Colt’s Manufacturing 中国体彩官方app and Colt Canada.

-Captain Jack McCauley had a good career in the Maryland State Police. He was often promoted and moved to demanding positions. Then something changed for Jack. I think he lost his faith in Maryland law enforcement. According to his affidavit from this spring’s court case, McCauley was asked a question while testifying before the Maryland House. During testimony in the State House Judiciary subcommittee, McCauley was asked to testify if the newly enacted firearms ban would reduce crime in Maryland. Quote “As I began to respond, ” The trooper said he acquiesced to her request because he believed she was his superior in the administration. Had he been allowed to answer, he would have told the delegate that the banned firearms are almost never used in crimes, that the anti-rights laws would have no effect on mass shootings since stricter mental health protections were far more effective. Now he says “My goal is to educate the public, because the mainstream media and the governor’s office are intentionally lying to people,”

After the hearing, Ms. Paskel explained why she ordered McCauley not to answer. The testimony “was not about policy; it is just [about] votes.”

-There is more news about Maryland assault on civilian long guns. 21 State Attorneys General filed an amicus brief The brief was filed in the U.S. Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals in the case of Kolbe v. O’Malley. The States Attorneys said Maryland’s Firearm Safety Act violates citizens’ rights to keep and bear arms by imposing a ban on the possession of commonly-used weapons. They also said Maryland law must be subject to strict scrutiny because its restrictions extend to possession of a protected weapon by a law-abiding citizen for self-defense in the 中国体彩官方app.

-The Ohio Senate One bill provides legal protections for residents defending themselves during violent attacks.

It would rescind Ohio’s law which requires a person to retreat before using deadly force in self-defense. The bill’s sponsor said, Quote “The bill would allow a lawful carrier of a firearm to defend themselves so long as the person is assaulted in a place where he or she has the right to be. A person facing a life threatening situation should not have a duty to flee and hope for the best; they should have the right to protect themselves and protect their loved ones.” The bill would also reduce the mandatory safety training from 12 hours down to four hours to get a concealed carry license. It allows people serving in the military to retain their concealed carry licenses and accommodate out-of-state firearms purchases. It also requires Ohio to recognize concealed handgun licenses issued by states that recognize Ohio’s license holders.

-Anti-rights politicians are off the chain in Missouri. which would turn gun owners into criminals by banning semi-automatic firearms. Quote, “Any person who was legally in possession of an assault weapon or large capacity magazine shall have ninety days from such effective date to do any of the following without being subject to prosecution:
(1) Remove the assault weapon or large capacity magazine from the state of Missouri;
(2) Render the assault weapon permanently inoperable; or
(3) Surrender the assault weapon or large capacity magazine to the appropriate law enforcement agency for destruction, subject to specific agency regulations.
Unlawful manufacture, import, possession, purchase, sale, or transfer of an assault weapon or a large capacity magazine is a class C felony.
This is forced civilian disarmament.

-Elections have consequences. After this last election, the NRA publicly said there is “absolutely no scenario” in which they would endorse Senate majority leader Harry Reid in 2016. The NRA refused to endorse Reid in 2010. Reid’s push for gun control since his last election has Quote “Given his actions, votes, and full-throated support of the Obama-Bloomberg gun control agenda, there is absolutely no scenario where the NRA would endorse Senator Reid.” Nevada firearms owners supported Reid’s opponent, Sharron Angle, in 2010, but the NRA never got onboard. Some insiders felt the NRA favored Senator Reid in order to keep Chuck Schumer from replacing him as Majority Leader in the Senate.

-Maybe this is news about news, but Jeff Knox posted an article at World Net Daily. Jeff talks about injured veterans being denied their right to own a gun because of their injuries. I don’t mean one or two veterans. More than 100,000 vets lost their second amendment rights because of their VA classification. Jeff noticed that US Representative Gabby Giffords has not been forcibly disarmed after her traumatic brain injury. There are clearly two sets of rules at play. One set of rules is for the politically favored and another set of rules is for the people who have to pay their own legal bills. We’ll have Jeff on the Wednesday show to

-Jeff Knox is from Arizona, and so is this next story. We covered the brutal murder of a real estate agent in Arkansas. The agent was targeted because she was a woman who often worked alone. That prompted many real estate agents to apply for their carry licence. This particular group of Keller Williams agents consists mostly of rather than opening front doors and talking about closet space. Jenny McCall sells houses in Tempe, Arizona. “This particular house is vacant which would be something that somebody who wanted to hurt somebody would definitely look for.” The more expensive, vacant 中国体彩官方apps in particular can attract criminals. The agents try and double up for some calls, but that’s not always possible. Now they carry concealed and spend a day at the range to brush up on their skills.

Quote, “Because we deal with such a wide variety of real estate from the high-end stuff.. all the way down to the very lowest of low.. we never know what we’re walking into,” said Kevin Craig. Some ranges in Tempe now offer monthly self-defense courses for realtors.

-A gun owner is suing the Atlanta Botanical Gardens after he was escorted off the property because he was openly carrying a permitted gun. Phillip Evans and GeorgiaCarry are bringing the lawsuit. The Botanical Gardens allow “no weapons except as permitted by law.” Since open carry by licensed firearms owners is legal in Georgia, Evans visited the gardens while armed. Evans wasn’t questioned about his holstered firearm in October. Evans came back to the gardens a week later with his wife and two children, again openly wearing his gun in a holster. This time the management of the Botanical Gardens told him he could not have his gun with him. The police were called and Evans was escorted to his car. The Botanical Gardens is a private organization and it operates on 30 acres it leases from the city of Atlanta. The private organization can not deny citizens the right to tools of self-defense

-Sometimes it takes a lawsuit to make the police follow the law. A legal resident tried to get a carry permit in Boston. The police told him he must provide either a US birth certificate or naturalization papers. Phuong Ngo, and the group Commonwealth Second Amendment, sued the Boston police department. The city folded. Now the Boston Police as documentation in the concealed carry application process. Thank you Mr. Ngo and Commonwealth Second Amendment.

-We love it when a police department promotes real firearms safety. The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office, in Louisiana made us smile. Registration is open for their intended for children from 8 to 12 years of age. The four-hour class is offered in early December and early January. The course provides basic instruction for children who may never have fired a gun but want to be able to use one safely. It’s also recommended for kids who will receive a new BB gun, shotgun, or hunting rifle for Christmas. The Sheriff’s training academy will provide firearms if the children don’t have any. Children are welcome to bring their own firearms like BB guns, pellet guns, .22 rifles, and small caliber shotguns, but not high-powered rifles. BBs and 22 ammunition will be supplied. All children will shoot at both fixed targets and skeet. The class is free.

-A North Carolina gun shop ran an ad on Facebook. The advertisement read- “Shop Online and choose from the area’s largest selection of safes and vaults… on sale now through November 15!” The ad was taken down by Facebook Facebook said ads cannot indirectly link back to pages where guns can be purchased. “The decision is final. Please consider this the end of our correspondence about your ad.”

– are to be considered firearms for all purposes in the Canadian criminal code except for registration and licensing. Thus, airguns will be subject to the same criminal code provisions dealing with careless storage of firearms. Moreover, provisions dealing with concealed firearms will now apply to airguns. This means if you put your airgun in a pocket or backpack you will be violating the law. Canada’s National Firearms Association says they will be seeking a legislative remedy to the problems caused by this ruling.

-The opposite is happening in Michigan. The legislation excludes guns that propel a projectile by gas, spring or air from Michigan’s firearm regulations. Another bill would repeal a law making it a misdemeanor for a minor to possess a BB gun unless accompanied by an adult. The Michigan Senate passed a bill to prohibit local governments from regulating ownership of paintball and BB guns. Municipalities could limit their use to authorized locations or on private property.

-You might remember our story about a one room school house in Colorado that raffled off a rifle to raise money for new playground equipment. The is Tickets for the rifle can be obtained at the library for a $5 donation or five tickets for a $20 donation. They want more computers for the library. The rifle was made by the Bold Ideas facility, located in Breckenridge. The drawing for the winner is scheduled for noon on Monday, Dec. 1.

-Speaking of books, the Christmas season is coming. We interviewed authors and , so please remember them if you give books this Christmas. We use information provided by author Stephen Wenger in every podcast. We recommend his book,. A great gift for any shooter is By frequent guest Kathy Jackson. The links are in our show notes.

Gun Quotes
One of our regular email contributors Ken from Arizona sent in our gun quote, it comes from Winston Churchill

“Still, if you will not fight for the right when you can easily win without bloodshed, if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not so costly, you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance for survival. There may be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no chance of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves.”

A robber approached the 36 year old woman and demanded her purse and valuables. . She fired several times, but apparently missed. The police were looking for the man who ran from the crime scene.

Hayden Gagnon, 19, died at the scene. Police found his compatriots, Thomas Hartman and Matthew Franjose, after a search of the nearby woods. They both have been charged with 1st degree 中国体彩官方app invasion. The Menominee Co Sheriff said “the 中国体彩官方appowner defended himself and his 中国体彩官方app”. While no charges are pending against the 中国体彩官方appowner, the local DA says he plans to review the case to make sure the shooting was justified.

-You remember when the Bloomberg group Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America said you don’t need a gun to go shopping. Well, . Daniel McHugh is 48 years old. He had just walked out of a Kroger supermarket in Atlanta Georgia and got into his car. That is when two men opened the driver side door and shot him. Bystanders put pressure on the gunshot wound to his stomach by the time police and medical personnel arrived. Now McHugh is fighting for his life at Grady Memorial Hospital. He remains in critical condition.

Criminals break the law for a living. Criminals do not obey gun laws, just as, in this case, they refuse to obey laws against armed robbery, car theft, possession of a stolen handgun, and attempted murder.

I did a couple of posts this week on Washington State’s I-594 and what to expect next. dealt with the ultimate intentions of Bloomberg and his ilk. A post from Reddit makes the argument with which I agree that it is to kill the gun culture. looked at the factors that made Washington State and now Nevada targets for universal background check initiatives. I ranked the states by those factors. The other states to keep an eye on are Arizona and Oregon thanks to the number of in-migrants from California.

-Washington DC’s anti- rights handgun law was overturned because the district demanded that handguns and rifles be stored in an inoperative condition. The US Supreme Court reminded them that guns, like fire extinguishers, only save lives when they are within reach. Now the Los Angeles city council proposes a similar ordinance requiring that or in a gun safe.

-Emily Miller is a resident of the District of Columbia and the investigative reporter for Fox DC 5. . that the only way she could qualify is if she was in a business where she carried large amounts of money or jewelry or if her life was in danger. General levels of crime or living in a “bad neighborhood” didn’t count. She had to have specific threats against her life. After telling her this, the police official said the Second Amendment didn’t apply in DC because it was “for when the British were coming.” To make matters worse, there is currently no one in DC certified to teach the carry permit class. Alan Gura told Emily that the District’s new law is unconstitutional and doesn’t adhere to the court’s ruling. He is seeking a permanent injunction.
Rob Comment – I sense a second book from Emily coming soon!
Rachel Comment – I think it is now a race to see who gets a carry permit first – Rob or Emily. I’m guessing Rob.

-Michael Cargill and his employees at Central Texas Gun Works have somewhat of a secret language among them. That way when something is going wrong, they can signal each other for help. So when a particular customer walked into the Austin Texas store Thursday afternoon, it wasn’t long before Cargill’s clerk had to send him one of those signals. The man asked for 500 rounds of Full Metal Jacket, 500 rounds of Ball, 500 rounds of Hollow Point ammunition. He also wanted to purchase a Sig. Cargill’s suspicions were confirmed when the customer said, “I’m gonna go over there to that hospital and I’m going to shoot everyone in that hospital,” That’s when Police arrived and detained the man. The man had been released from the hospital earlier that day because they didn’t have enough beds in the psych ward.”

6-With the election completed, . Here’s some perspective for you: last year, the most significant bills were licensed open carry, filed at the end of January, and campus carry for CHL holders, filed in February. This year things are different. The session begins January 13, but pre-filing started this week. Already, we’ve seen two licensed open carry bills filed, as well as a full constitutional carry bill. Additionally, Rep. Kleinshcmidt filed a 2A protection against federal infringement (), and Rep. James White filed a bill to lower the age of CHL eligibility to 18 (). Another representative apparently has a good heart and a sense of humor; he filed which says, in part, “A school district may not punish a student in kindergarten through grade five for .. brandishing a partially consumed pastry or other food item to simulate a firearm or weapon . . . ” The mommies demanding action are ….well, they’re seeing some action, and they’re not liking it. Guess what? I think the action is only beginning. Hang on for the ride, because it’s going to get fast-paced in the weeks and months to come.

11- It’s not often we can say these words, but – kudos to CNN for producing a very honest and favorable report on gun usage. Thei takes a heartwarming look at the lives of ladies in the Austin chapter of A Girl And A Gun Shooting League. The report includes personal thoughts from A Girl & A Gun founder, Juliana Crowder. Here’s what Juliana had to say: “Simply possessing a firearm – does that make you safer? Not if you don’t know how to use it. It’s how you prepare yourself as a firearms owner that makes you safer. . . . I do have friends who don’t own firearms; some don’t understand what I do. I learned early on not to convert anybody. All you can do is offer up the opportunity. . . . I just see so many more women open to the idea of learning to shoot. We have this really tight sisterhood of understanding of why we’re here, why we enjoy this particular hobby, why it’s important not only for the 2nd amendment issue, but as a sport and recreation, and ultimately as personal responsibility.”

Rachel comment- Juliana Crowder is one of the top five people I credit with propelling me into the world of firearms and politics. She was my CHL instructor when I was just starting to believe that gun carry was a positive thing but I was still very intimidated. She taught me, encouraged me, and inspired me. She’s a wonderful mentor and has touched many lives with her passion, care, and heartfelt desire to improve women’s lives. Thank you, Juliana.

13-If you have don’t be surprised when you get a visit from the Buffalo PD. Under Buffalo city code, a firearm can only be transferred if it goes to a FFL or gunsmith or by a testamentary bequest as in a will. Police Commissioner Daniel Derenda says this is an effort to prevent firearms from going back into circulation “off the books”. About the effort, Derenda said “We recently started a program where we’re cross referencing all the pistol permit holders with the death records, and we’re sending people out to collect the guns whenever possible so that they don’t end up in the wrong hands.”

Comment – So much for the lies that the proponents of registration tell when they say “we only want to know who has a gun; we don’t want to take them”.

14-Also in New York, Remington Arms The fate of Remington’s operations in New York has been questioned since the passage of the SAFE Act in early 2013. Remington laid off 125 New York workers in August as work continued to grow at Remingtons new plant in Alabama. These latest layoffs came a week after election day.

15-Speaking of the wrong hands, a guy called in a tip to the police.. and then the Now that hurts. The Vancouver police were conducting a manhunt on Halloween morning as they looked for 59 year old John Kendall. Kendall was involved with a shooting earlier the day. A citizen called 911 to report a suspicious car. The caller had the suspicious car in sight and waited for law enforcement. Officers arrived to see the caller get out of his vehicle and walk towards the back of his vehicle. The cops then opened fire on the innocent man, shooting him in the leg. The wounded tipster took cover behind a pile of gravel and then attempted to return fire with his own weapon. The citizen then called 9-1-1 again to report that he had been shot by the cops, at which point the responding officers decided to forgo killing the wrong person and made contact with the innocent man. The citizen was taken to the hospital and treated for his gunshot wound. The real fugitive was later found to have committed suicide.

18-What if the politicians stopped trying to control the sale of guns, and instead decided to control guns directly. Smart gun technology would allow a complex combination of electronics, WiFi communications and police enforcement to turn electronic guns on and off. If you have nothing to hide then you have nothing to fear, right? They claim that technology can hack around the Second Amendment. Will they then allow guns into airports, court rooms and on airplanes? Quote “We propose to address these safety areas within the firearm itself”. close quote.
comment- I want the politicians and law enforcement officers to go first.

19-. by California Attorney General Kamala Harris and the Brady Campaign to intervene in the Peruta case. The Peruta case said self-defense was sufficient cause to be granted a concealed carry permit. The Attorney General and the Brady Campaign did not take part in the case when it was on trial. The Attorney General sought to intervene after San Diego Sheriff Bill Gore said he wouldn’t appeal the Court’s decision. The Court “held that the movants did not meet the heavy burden of demonstrating imperative reasons in favor of intervention on appeal. Noting that the movants sought intervention more than four years after the case began, the panel stated that the stage of the proceedings, the length of the delay, and the reason for the delay all weighed against timeliness. In the absence of a timely motion, intervention was unavailable. they can appeal for an en banc hearing on their motion but he doesn’t hold out much hope for them.

Comment- There are two timelines at work here. Normally the judges ruling would go into effect in 7 days. However, any of the judges on the 9th circuit court of appeals could ask for an en-banc review during the next 21 days. Rob might apply in a month.

21- There is more news for the California Attorney General, and this next story was sent in by listener Anthony. . Four California gun dealers against her because California law violates their First Amendment civil rights. Stephen Lindley heads the California Department of Justice Bureau of Firearms, and he is named as a co-defendant. The Tracy Rifle and Pistol shooting range was cited by the Cal. Department of Justice for having pictures of three handguns visible through their window. The California Penal Code section, written in 1923, bans gun stores from putting up signs advertising the sale of handguns, but not other firearms. While California gun dealers cannot display even the word ‘handgun’ at their stores to passersby, adjacent businesses and anti-gun protesters are not prohibited from using the prohibited words and images. Similar statutes banning handgun displays are on the books in Pennsylvania, Texas, and Washington, D.C. The California Department of Justice appears to be the only state agency enforcing the laws. The lawsuit is supported by the Second Amendment Foundation and the Calguns Foundation. One of the lawyers representing the businesses is UCLA law professor Eugene Volokh.

23-Pennsylvania pre-empts local firearms regulation. Legislators went so far as to pass a law requiring that cities pay the legal costs when they lose a lawsuit brought by citizens trying to overturn the cities gun regulations. Philadelphia and Pittsburgh argued that lawmakers approved the measure in violation of state constitutional provisions designed to promote transparency in the legislative process. Under the new law, a gun owner would no longer have to prove they had been harmed by the law to successfully challenge it, and “membership organizations” could stand in to sue on behalf of any Pennsylvania member. The challenger also could seek damages.

-This is a followup to a story we reported last week. This is the Congressional seat formerly held by Gabby Giffords. Her gun control organization put in over $2 million in independent expenditures for Barber and against McSally. With almost all the provisional and early ballots counted, McSally has a 133 vote lead. Unfortunately, this will trigger a recount.
Comment – I just hope Col. McSally isn’t “Al Frankened” with more and more ballots being found until Barber is declared the winner.
Comment – If McSally does win, this will have to hurt for Giffords and Mark Kelly.

John Pierce.
Strict scrutiny protection for armed self-defense.
In theory, gun rights were protected. In practice, they were not protected. Amendment 3 gave the courts the required grounds to defend the right of self-defense.
Rational basis- legitimate interest
intermediate scrutiny (balancing test) important government interest and be narrowly tailored to achieve it
strict scrutiny- a compelling interest achieved in the least restrictive manner possible.
black letter law vs case law
What will we see in Alabama firearms litigation? Places and manner of carry; schools, government buildings, bars, age to receive concealed/open carry. Now we have a standard of review to question existing laws.
Other states could benefit from similar amendments.

Seg 1- Personal news from each participant
Rob- I took four friends shooting Friday night. Unfortunately, the gun breaking Genie must have come with us. We suffered a lose sight, a broken wood grip, and a magwell fell off. We also had a ton of fun. One of the new shooters did a great job. We had her shoot 5 dry fire practice shots for each live fire shot. She simply got better and better as the night went on. Yes, I replaced the stock and fixed the sight.

John – I have been looking for a Savage 99 lever action rifle for a few years at a cheap price. I finally got one this week. It was missing the rear sight but was otherwise in a good shape. I do plan to refinish the stock. The other gun stuff I’ve done is discover a new gun shop. It is run by a client’s husband as a retirement hobby. The best thing about it is that he’ll do transfers for $10.

– introduced a measure before LA City Council on Friday that would mandate locked storage of firearms. He introduced the measure as part of the Women Against Gun Violence’s TALK Project. Krekorian said, ““It is critical for Los Angeles to lead on this issue. Requiring gun owners to lock up their firearms and store them safely will prevent needless accidents and tragedies. This sensible step will keep our schools and children safe.” Proponents of the motion say a loophole exists in which the state requires that guns come with safety locks, but there is no requirement to actually use the locks while the weapons are not in use, or to store them in locked containers.

Comment – Ah, the old gun lock loophole argument.

– that established a individual constitutional right to hunt, fish, and harvest wildlife. Amendment One passed with 88% of the vote. The amendment also ensures that future wildlife conservation and management decisions are based on sound science and not emotion. The amendment was supported by the NRA, the Mississippi Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus and the Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks.

– She was elected to the West Virginia House of Delegates as a Republican. Saira is a freshman at West Virginia University and won the election with 62% of the vote. She ran on a pro-gun platform, was rated A-Q by the NRA, and was endorsed by the West Virginia Citizen’s Defense League. – “ I believe in protecting the innocent and punishing the guilty. It’s time that we stopped treating our citizens like terrorists and terrorist like citizens. Simply stated, firearms allow our law abiding citizens to protect themselves and their families. Our constitutional right shall not be infringed!”

-There is hope, even in New Jersey. The Franklin Revolver and Rifle Association held its 26th Women & Guns class. and practice with handguns. The club provided volunteer coaches, range safety, and the use of the shooting range. Ammunition, targets and refreshments were paid for by a grant from the NRA.

Franklin Borough native and National Pistol Champion John Heller gave a one-hour lecture on firearms safety and basic pistol marksmanship. Each student shot 60 rounds during the half day event. Dawn Siek of Stockholm, New Jersey won top honors in the electronic illuminated red dot sighting category by scoring 95 and 97 out of a possible 100 points. Her coach for the day was Mark Jenkins

In the open sights classification, Virginia Tomala of Wantage earned “top gun” honors with a score of 95. She was coached by Bob Leach.

– Well, New Jersey, that is a fine start. I’ll see your 23 students, and raise you a few hundred more. The largest gun club in Colorado held a free concealed carry class for teachers and school staff. The turnout was so large that the had to move the lecture portion of the class to a hangar at the local airport to accommodate the . Think of that. The news media hands us the contradiction that we have both an epidemic of mass shootings, and that we should be disarmed. The Centennial Gun Club in Denver thinks teachers should be able to protect themselves and their students. The 8 hour class went over proper firearm handling, safety, shooting fundamentals, holsters and more. Unfortunately, state law prohibits teachers from carrying at any public school grades kindergarten through 12. That means only the bad guys get to have guns.

After this last election, the Republicans now control both the Colorado House and the Colorado Senate. We’ll see if the legislators actions are as good as their word.

-Tuesday’s election changed the balance of power in a number of states. Democrats lost their super-majorities in the California Senate, the Vermont House and the Maryland House of Delegates.

Republicans now control 67 state chambers while the Democrats control 28. Prior to Tuesday, Republicans had a 57-41 advantage.

Republicans have complete state control, meaning they control both legislative chambers and the governor’s mansion, in 23 states. The Democrats have six.

Rob- Anyone want to take bets on whether the US Senate will pass concealed carry reciprocity, or are Republicans all talk and no vote? John Cornyn authored the Senate bill earlier this year.

-Vermont is a blue state controlled by Democrat legislators. That was true last week, and it remains true after this last election. The good news is that a few of the anti-rights legislators were voted out of office. Democrat Vermont state Representative Linda Waite-Simpson used to represent Essex Junction. She said she would support mandatory universal background checks in Vermont. She was also the largest recipient of money from anti-rights groups like Gun Sense Vermont. Linda Waite-Simpson lost. Human rights advocates can also claim victory in the lieutenant governor’s race, where progressive Dean Corren lost to incumbent Republican Phil Scott by a 2-1 margin.

Rob- didn’t Michael Bloomberg claim that anti-rights candidates would ride a wave of gratitude from the voters?

Gary- Everytown is still claiming victory because of I-594 then I saw a MDA spokesperson claim 87% want More background checks even though 594 past 60-40 and thats with millions spent on confusing ads

-Well that didn’t take long. Greg Abbott won the election to be the next governor of Texas. He said he would sign an open carry bill. Quote .” close quote. The Bloomberg group Moms Demand Attention said that Governor Abbott should demand mandatory background checks before he signs a bill allowing open carry. It sounds like “mandatory background checks are the new MDA Talking points.

-Here is more Texas news from.. They found that black men are 2.79 times more likely to be denied a concealed carry license than white men, and that black women are 4.74 times more likely to be denied one than white women. That racial disparity is not unique to Texas. In Indiana, black men are 5.54 times more likely to be denied a license than white men, while black women are 7.26 times more likely to be denied one than white women.

In order to be eligible for a concealed handgun license in Texas you must pay a $140 fee, prove citizenship and residency, be 21 years old, and complete a 4 to 6 hour training course, pass a state background check which includes determining if the person is an addict, delinquent on any child support payments, taxes, or owes any debts to the state. They also check for any restraining orders.

New York has similar prejudicial requirements. Some New York Sheriffs require sworn affidavits of good character from a county resident who has known you for five years and is not a family member. Americans move every 7 years on average, so this requirement alone eliminates over 65 percent of the possible applicants.

Rob- We denied these people their right of self-defense, but we have no idea if we’re safer because of it. Are strangers who moved here recently really more dangerous? Do we know that 19 year old military vets are less safe than a 21 year old? Do we know if a serviceman who was overseas and couldn’t make a court appearance in family court is really a danger to society? Do we know if a fee left over from a relatives probate case really makes us so dangerous we should be disarmed in public? We don’t!

We deny the right of self-defense for the thinnest excuse.

– She has been carrying concealed since 2013 because she realizes the danger real estate agents, many of whom are women, face showing empty 中国体彩官方apps to strangers. The criminal who kidnapped and killed real estate agent Beverly Carter in Arkansas two months ago said he targeted her because she was “a woman who worked alone.” Using this incident as a motivator, Ms. Gottschling worked with a local gun shop to organize a concealed carry training class for a group of a dozen real estate agents. As she said, “You can never be sure what’s behind the door when you go to open it.”

-This should come as no surprise to our listeners. found that 63% of Americans said that a firearm makes their 中国体彩官方app safer. Gallup first started asking this question in 2000. Since then, those who say it makes them safer has risen from 35% to 63%. Meanwhile, has dropped from 51% to only 30%. They found that Southerners and Republicans are more likely than Easterners and Democrats to have a firearm in the 中国体彩官方app.

– In the barely news category, a federal judge says he meant what he said. U.S. District Judge Frederick Scullin had earlier issued his decision in the case of Palmer versus DC. He said the District of Columbia’s total ban on the public carrying of ready-to-use handguns outside the 中国体彩官方app (was) unconstitutional under any level of scrutiny. The district asked for reconsideration, and this week, the judge said no. There are strong indications the District understood Judge Scullin very well, but the district has slow walked the required legislation . That opinion is shared by a firearms instructor who was also a plaintiff in the Palmer case. complaining about the high cost of applying for certification. The course takes 16 hours in the classroom and two hours of range time. Quote “This is another example of (the district) making the process as difficult and expensive as possible.” The district requires a $435 fee to apply to be a firearms instructor. We will see what the judge has to say.

-Florida passed a law last year prohibiting doctors from compiling records on firearms owners as part of their routine medical survey. Some doctors denied care based on the patients answers. The privacy law was appealed by a doctor who said he had a first amendment right to ask his patients if they owned firearms. A federal court of appeals judge ruled the doctor could express his views, but the law stands since it establishes a “codes of conduct that define the practice of good medicine” and “protects a patient’s ability to receive effective medical treatment without compromising the patient’s privacy with regard to

-Who is hungry? More businesses are being pressured to put up no-gun signs. The owners of the Tater Junction restaurant in Aurora, Texas thought otherwise. They reading, “Notice: Guns Welcome中国体彩官方app on Premises. Please leave weapons holstered unless need arises.” Co-owner Darren Trainer said they decided to post the signs when they were taking over ownership of the restaurant. The signs serve as a joke but also as their stance on concealed carry in their restaurant. Texas has very specific signage requirements for businesses that choose to ban firearms.

Grant Cunningham is a revolversmith, a personal defense trainer, a blogger, a podcaster, and a published author. His books include the Gun Digest Book of the Revolver, Defensive Revolver Fundamentals, and Defensive Pistol Fundamentals which will be released later this month.

In addition to his critically acclaimed books, Grant’s articles on shooting and self defense have been published in a number of popular magazines and on websites like the Personal Defense Network. Grant has made a DVD on revolver shooting for the NRA’s Personal Firearms Defense series, and is a founding member of the Association of Defensive Shooting Instructors.

In past shows we have had discussions about the use of revolvers for defensive gun use.

There are some that consider the revolver as being outdated and with a limited capacity.

How would you respond to critics who say the revolver is not a viable weapon for a person’s primary carry firearm?
What are the advantages to using a revolver? And what are the disadvantages?
How is training with a revolver different than a pistol?
What revolver would you recommend as a first revolver for someone new to revolvers?

Revolvers have a greater variety of caliber than the generally available options in semi-autos, (38-357, 44special- 44 mag, 32, 45, 22 etc) in semi autos it is generally believed that 9 vs 40 vs 45 comes ballistically down to not a heck of a lot of difference. it that the same with revolver calibers?

A lot of the commonly used semi auto guns are easily customised to the individual shooter, options exist in changing sights, grips, springs etc for many semi autos, is this same option available for revolvers?

Can you speak a little bit about the revolvers (there are 2 that I am aware of) that will fire both the 45 long colt and the .410 shotshell, are these pistols legitimate self defense guns?

-Doctor John Lott put He starts with the experience in the Middle East. I like this discussion because it is both brief and insightful. For decades, Israel responded to terrorist attacks by putting more armed police and military on the streets. Unfortunately, a mass killer can either wait for officers to leave the scene or kill them first. Israel found that no matter how much money they spent, terrorists patiently waited until a good opportunity presented itself. Almost 15 percent of Israel’s adult Jewish civilian population has been licensed to carry weapons. With possible victims carrying concealed handguns, the would-be lone wolf attacker doesn’t know who is able to defend themselves and doesn’t know whom to attack first. Terrorists have to resort to less effective, secretive routes of attack such as bombing… Giving government security agencies more power may help, but it isn’t a panacea and it risks others losing their privacy. When that fails, letting people defend themselves would provide another line of defense against any attacks. Can the we learn from attacks in the US?

The group was funded almost entirely by the DC-based HSUS. This is the second time in the last 10 years that they tried to impose a bear hunting ban. Question One lost by over 20,000 votes. It was opposed by the Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine, the NRA, and the Maine Professional Guides Association as well as all three candidates for governor.

-Here is more distorted rhetoric from New Jersey politicians who want to regulate firearms. They claim you have to pass a written and road test before you can get a driver’s license in New Jersey. Two New Jersey lawmakers said the same rule should apply for first-time gun owners. Democrat assemblymen Tim Eustace and Joe Lagana introduced legislation to require anyone who applies for an initial firearms purchaser identification card or gun permit to successfully .

The assemblymen are wrong. It does not require training to own a car or boat.. or even an airplane! You can buy a vehicle without having a license to operate it. I know because I’ve done that several times. You can even drive a car, truck, tractor or motorcycle without a license.. as long as you do so ON YOUR OWN PROPERTY. Most farm kids so. You need a license to drive in public, but New Jersey denies the average citizen the right to bear arms in public.

That is exactly what Heather Hodges did and she is now going to serve three years in a Texas prison as a result. It seems she was mad at her boyfriend and wanted to get even. A senior at Radnor High School in Philadelphia Pennsylvania was and a teacher. She wrote that she wanted to be the first female mass murderer. She also wrote how much she admired the two murderers at the 1999 Columbine High School massacre in Colorado. She carefully described how she could kill several students and one of her teachers at the high school. Quote “.. imagine the power.. the bullets leaving the gun with a loud bang, piercing kids around me, the way they collapse, their blood splattering the floor… the screams.” School staff found her notebook and called police. The girl was arrested and will be charged as a juvenile for making terroristic threats. She has a history of mental illness. She had no access to weapons at school or at 中国体彩官方app.

-We interviewed Brian Aitken in our last episode and reported the injustice he received from the New Jersey court system. This next news item is from Mililani, Hawaii. Richard Silva defended himself in 2011. During his trial, the deputy Prosecutor Rodney Veary twice misstated the self-defense law. The prosecutor indicated a person cannot use self-defense as a defense if he has an opportunity to retreat and does not take it. The first time the judge struck the comments from the record. The judge let the comments stand the second time during closing arguments.

The state Intermediate because of those false statements of the law by the prosecutor. Silva turned himself in the day of the shooting and was jailed. He has served more than three years.

-Dana Loesch at Texas Christian University. The political commentator found out that she couldn’t carry on campus. Loesch argue that the school’s “no guns” policy puts others in danger. Loesch said “I was really looking forward to this but unfortunately am uncomfortable gambling with my own, my family’s, or readers/listeners’s security.” She is the author of “Hands Off My Gun” and she said she is frequently threatened by gun-control activists. “(I’m) just not cool with being a sitting duck somewhere or asking any of you to be.”

comment- Well, Texas? What do you have to say for yourself?

In rough terms, the anti-gun crowd spent 60 million dollars in this last election while the NRA spent a sixth as much. Here are a few of the election results where Bloomberg’s money tried to buy an election. The anti-fights publication kindly provided the hit list of pro-rights legislators. It was a good day for the right of self-defense.

  • Anti-rights law student Sandra Fluke lost to Ben Allen for a seat in the California State Senate. Allen represents Santa Monica, California.
  • Pro-rights candidate David Young defeated anti-rights Staci Appel to win the third congressional district from Iowa.
  • Frank Guinta defeated incumbent congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter to represent the 1st congressional district in New Hampshire.
  • Pro-rights candidate Thom Tillis beat the anti-rights candidate and incumbent senator Kay Hagan in the Senate race in North Carolina
  • The pro rights candidate Cory Gardner defeated the incumbent anti-rights candidate Mark Udall to take the Senate seat in Colorado
  • Tom Cotton beat the two term incumbent anti-rights senator Mark Pryor from Arkansas.
  • The pro-rights candidate Larry Hogan beat the anti-rights candidate Anthony Brown to become the governor of Maryland.

-Local rights groups reported similar results. The New York Rifle and Pistol Association had good success with its endorsed candidates. From one end of the state to the other, over a dozen anti-rights candidates were defeated by pro-rights candidates. The New York Rifle na Pistol Association was disappointed that the Republican Governor’s association did so little to support Rob Astorino for governor.

These next election results did not involve heavy anti-rights funding, but the message is clear. Anti-rights incumbent Pat Quinn lost to Bruce Rauner for the Illinois governor’s race.

In Texas, Tea Party favorite Konni Burton won Senate District 10. That is the Fort Worth district held by Democrat and gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis since 2009. Burton ran against Libby Willis. Willis was hand-picked by Wendy Davis to replace her. That didn’t work as planned.

It also looks like pro-gun rights Republican Martha McSally may win Gabby Giffords’ old seat in Arizona. She is currently leading by over 2,000 votes over Rep. Ron Barber. Giffords and her Americans for Responsible Solutions PAC put in over $2 million to defeat McSally and elect Barber. of absentee ballots to count and hopefully McSally’s lead is over the margin of fraud

Comment – That has got to hurt if McSally’s lead holds up.

The right of self-defense had some victories in the last election. Some races remain undecided and we had some clear defeats. Before anyone tells you the election results are a sign of anti-black anti-women prejudice, note that the Republican party sent an Indian woman back to the Governor’s mansion, a Black man back to the Senate, and elected the first Black Republican woman to Congress.

-Anti-rights groups paid 10 million dollars to pass an initiative in Washington State, and they won. Expect to see similar initiatives similarly funded in Nevada and Oregon.

Segment 3 Interview with author Jae Wells

Let us talk about the roots of culture. Before you decide to take the responsibility to own a firearm, you have to imagine that someone honorably protects themselves and those they love. That means that culture builds the scaffold of society.

Tell us about your stories-

Who did you grow up reading?

Imagination comes before decision and action. Your podcasts talks about politics and the right of self-defense. I’m an author, so I work upstream of politics. You talk about laws and politicians, and I take my readers through the world we want to see. Life imitates art. In particular, my life has imitated my book.

I created a few characters who had and used firearms. I don’t treat firearms as a magic wand

my adolescent fiction, firearms can get you into trouble as easily as get you out of it.

Some people hate guns. It is almost as if they are allergic to taking responsibility for their own safety.

Ignorance, dislike, disapproval, condemnation, bigotry.

These same people also thanked me when I protected them. I was in their office and some sketchy looking character wouldn’t leave. My presence kept things from escalating. So did the knowledge that I was carrying concealed.

Some fans were shocked that I’d sell adolescent fiction at gun shows. They were upset that I also sell jewelry that looks like ammunition, and that I sell boutique beauty soap that has the shape of a gun.

That doesn’t stop new writers and producers from friending my Facebook page.

Jae, we have to invite you back.. or you’ll kill us in your next novel.

– r trying to climb through her bedroom window. The burglar was found on the ground outside the bedroom and was taken to the hospital where he later died. The occupant warned the intruder she had a gun and to go away but he kept coming. The occupant fired a warning shot into the wall and he kept coming. Finally, she shot him twice and he stopped.

Comment – Warning shots are not a wise thing to do but I’m glad it turned OK for this woman.

– in south St. Louis, Missouri. Two men with handguns announced a robbery at Elicia’s Pizza just after midnight. One robber held the owner at gunpoint while the other cleaned out the cash register. The owner, who has a concealed carry permit, was able to get to his own gun and exchanged shots with the robbers causing them to flee. One robber collapsed outside of the pizza place having been shot in the leg and buttocks. He was later taken to a hospital and listed in stable condition. The other man got away. Police recovered one robber’s gun and the stolen money at the scene.

-Some 中国体彩官方appless people are armed. Eric Harris and Juan Agriel were in separate cars in the parking lot of a Miami-Dade County Winn-Dixie store when Juan Agriel pulled out a tire iron and began to smash up Harris’ car. 48 year old Harris drew his firearm and Harris then took his phone and summoned police. Agriel was transported to a hospital and died shortly thereafter. Harris was taken in for questioning and were released early the next morning.

– when an armed, masked man forced his way into the house and demanded money. The couple complied and then the robber, Johnathan Corke, 26, demanded more. While the robber was occupied with his wife, the 中国体彩官方appowner retrieved his .45 pistol. Corke then raised his pistol towards the 中国体彩官方appowner who shot him several times. Corke was taken to Vanderbilt University Hospital where he died. Corke had charges of armed burglary and theft pending at the time of his death. No charges will be filed against the 中国体彩官方appowner.

Listener e-mail discussion

Hello pod people. Just one more email, I promise.

In perusing the internet news today about Washington’s 594 bill, I found someone’s comment that showed just how far apart the world of guns, shooting sports, and 2nd Amendment rights is from the non-gun guy, non-shooter, non-2nd Amendment supporter, banner of all things firearms.

His comment was that he was proud to have never owned a gun, never wanted a gun, proud to have never held a gun, never shot a gun, never needed a gun, and would take this mind-set to his grave.

He thinks this is smart, progressive, admirable, and brags about it, on-line. He had many supporters, too.

I thought that it was interesting just how far apart the 2 sides of this issue are, and that you’d maybe ponder this for your next podcast.

Seg 1- Personal news from each participant

Rob- I took some training at a local gunshop Thursday night. We reviewed presentation from concealment. I recorded the end of class summary with the instructor. I wrote it down when I got 中国体彩官方app. Now I’ve got 中国体彩官方appwork when I dry practice! I also cleaned my 45 magazines, and cleaned the 22 I use with new students. I was impressed. That little gun will run when it is very dirty.

John – Did some dry practice with my SIRT pistol. Had snow on Saturday morning but still went out to a gun auction on Saturday night to see if I could pick something up cheap. Not enough people showed up so they turned it into a silent auction.

Seg 2- News

-A few years ago, Mary Reed was shot at the Tucson shooting, a shooting which also wounded Representative Gabby Giffords. Now Mary Reed supports the Bloomberg group, Moms Demand Action. From what we read, Mary Reed thinks she needs to embellish her story to the press. No, that’s not right, she isn’t exaggerating. Reed is lying. She told the press his firearm in the Safeway grocery store for 15 minutes before the murderer shot Representative Gabby Giffords. That isn’t true. The store security personnel and the store security cameras never saw the firearm. This isn’t the first time Bloomberg’s group has been caught in a lie. If the truth doesn’t make your point for you, then you have to lie. Now our listeners know the truth about Tucson, and about Bloomberg’s anti-gun groups.

-Our next story is another example of anti-gun politicians distorting the facts. Democrat Fred DuVal is running for Governor of Arizona. He has previous experience as the Deputy Director of the White House under Bill Clinton. DuVal supports Colorado-like gun control in Arizona. Quote “ the attacks on Sandy Hook, Aurora, Isla Vista, and Tucson show for all gun purchases.” DuVal does not mention that in three of the four examples he lists the murderers actually passed the required background checks. DuVal also ignores that the Sandy Hook murderer stole his firearms, and so completely avoided any and all background checks. The tragic multiple victim murders are tragic events that DuVal is exploiting to take firearms away from honest citizens.

– In our last episode we told you about a Georgia voter who was asked to remove his NRA instructors cap before he was allowed to vote. The NRA’s legal team responded quickly. They demand the board of elections in Douglas County, Georgia, at the voting booth. According to the NRA, Georgia law prohibiting campaign materials “provides absolutely no support for the policy you have implemented, because the items such as a hat bearing the words ‘NRA Instructor’ are wholly unrelated to any political contest before the voters.”

-The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration 中国体彩官方app Council is the labor union that represents members of the government’s immigration service. Council President Kenneth Palinkas issued a statement decrying President Barack Obama’s planned amnesty by executive action after the Nov. 4th midterm elections. Palinkas said “The United States is the world’s rubber-stamp for entry.. regardless of the ramifications of the constant violations to the Immigration and Nationality Act. Whether it’s the failure to uphold the public charge laws, the abuse of our asylum procedures, the admission of Islamist radicals, or visas for health risks. The taxpayers are being fleeced and public safety is being endangered on a daily basis.”
Rob comment- Elections have consequences.. and so do open borders.
John comment – I think they may also remember what happened to one of their own, Brian Terry, who was killed using a gun walked by ATF.

-You remember that congress passed the Patriot Act after Muslims attacked the US over thirteen years ago on September 11th, 2001. The Patriot Act fast-tracked the government’s ability to search for information without a warrant. We gave the government new powers to defend the US, but now the government is using those same legal provisions for something else. Potential drug cases that are conducted by federal law enforcement without informing the target of the search. 1 percent are used to target terrorism.
Rob comment- That legislation passed a Republican controlled House and Senate. Shame on them.

– We received this news item from Doug Ritter and Knife Rights. The City of New York agreed to pay $7,500 to a falsely arrested knife owner after the police falsely declared his knife to be an illegal “gravity knife” even though the blade did not lock open. The knife owner is a sculptor who uses a knife for his work. The knife owner was arrested, handcuffed, booked, and placed in a holding cell like a common criminal. The knife owner fought the charges. With the help of an expert witness in court, the knife owner proved his knife was legal. The District Attorney voluntarily dismissed the case. Now the city owes the knife owner for legal fees.

-Here is some good news. Gallup conducted a poll in early October. They found that the . Today, 47 percent of Americans favor stricter gun laws. 38 percent want the laws left as they are. 14 percent of us want gun laws removed. The number of people who want gun control fell by 11 percent from its high after the murders in Newtown Connecticut.

Support for more firearms restrictions fell in almost every category. Here is how the numbers break down-
71 percent of democrats favored stricter laws, a decrease of 8 percen
67 percent of liberals supported stricter firearms laws, again a decrease of 8 percent
55 percent of women favored stricter laws, a decrease of 14 percent
36 percent of independent favor stricter gun laws. That is an increase of 1 percent. The increase may show that more former democrats and liberals now view themselves as independent voters.
32 percent of conservatives support stricter laws, a decrease of 12 percent.

And as you would expect, only 29 percent of self-identified republicans support stricter firearms regulation. That is a decrease of 10 percent.

A record 73 percent of us think handguns should not be banned, while a new low of 25 percent think only the police should have handguns.
Rob- That is great news. It means we should have more listeners.
Rob, I disagree with you. The numbers show that our listeners have been doing a great job as ambassadors for responsible armed self-defense.

– Bloomberg’s paid for lobbyists showed up at the Kroeger stockholders annual meeting to stage a media event. Bloomberg’s group is trying to bully Kroeger into banning guns at their supermarket. Someone took pictures of the Bloomberg protesters, and noticed they had armed security. Now that we’ve looked at the pictures, One of them looks like the same guy we saw being armed security for Bloomberg’s protest back at the NRA convention in Houston.

-We have another dose of hypocrisy for you. A woman in Corpus Christi, Texas doesn’t like guns. She doesn’t like her boyfriend owning guns or buying guns. 27 year old Bridget Campbell argued with her boyfriend after a man came to their mobile 中国体彩官方app to sell a gun. While they were arguing, Police charged her with aggravated assault.
Rob- It sounds like people who hate guns are violent. I’ve never been stabbed by a gun owner.
Gary- Hoplophobes project their own lack of control on others.

-Two peace activists in Washington County, Pennsylvania .. Nikole Ardeno and Emanuel Velez work for an anti-gun community organization called “Stop the Violence”. The two went to the police and accused their roommate of theft. Police determined the roommate was only taking property he owned as he moved out of their shared apartment. Ardeno and Velez assaulted the victim as he left. They beat and kicked the victim until he vomited blood and had convulsive seizures. The victim also worked for “Stop the Violence”. The two peace activists are charged with aggravated assault, conspiracy, simple assault and disorderly conduct. At last report, the victim remains unconscious and in critical condition at Pittsburg’s Mercy hospital.

-Newark, New jersey instituted a new policy for police officers. Chief Anthony Campos informed officers that they should refer any victim complaining about crimes such as simple assault, criminal mischief and harassment to file complaints in municipal court, rather than compile an incident report themselves. “in order to streamline operations and make better usage of police resources”. It also covers disorderly persons offenses such as improper behavior and offensive language, as well as complaints about bad checks and false information provided to police. The new procedure allows for exceptions for any crime that involves domestic violence or could constitute the level of an indictable offense.

-Gary, this next item is about Chicago. In that gun-control paradise, a large group of thugs attacked an off duty Police Sergeant. He was robbed as he walked to his car in a parking garage on Madison Street. The officer and two other men were confronted by 6 to 10 thugs at 3 in the afternoon. The officer was beaten unconscious and his firearm was taken from him. The sergeant suffered facial fractures and bleeding in his brain. He has been in and out of consciousness since the beating.

Gary- but we need more gun control so criminals can’t buy guns. Here is a news-flash for Chicago politicians. The criminals don’t go to the store to buy their guns. The thugs steal them. Breaking the law is what they do for a living.
Rob- I checked the Chicago crime reports. 59 people were shot in chicago that week. None of the criminals were licensed gun owners and used a legally purchased firearm to commit their crime.

-Here is more news from a gun free zone. Two men robbed two students on the campus of Western Michigan University. This prompted campus officials to post an alert on the university’s website Wednesday night. occurred at about 9 p.m. between the Sindecuse Health Center and Sangren Hall. The thieves made off with a backpack. Campus officials said they are asking students and others at WMU “to move about the campus with caution and not walk alone.” Michigan law prohibits concealed handgun license holders from carrying on or in a dormitory or classroom of a community college, college, or university.

rob comment- Hello, the two victims were not alone. That means campus officials are prescribing more of the same activity that got these two students robbed at gunpoint. That is irresponsible. I hope the students and parents call and let the University know how you feel.

-One more story from a gun control paradise. while on patrol early Friday morning, he was ambushed by the guy who was wielding a double-bit axe. The axe-wielder embedded the axe in the driver’s side window of the cop car. The officer then exited his car and struggled with the man but he got away. The officer suffered a dislocated shoulder and injured knee in the struggle.

Comment – I guess DC politicians will be calling for axe control to go along with their gun control.

-Kimberly Weeks is a rape survivor and an advocate of armed-self defense. Kimberly lives in Colorado and she wrote a She wrote,

“There are still times I awake in the middle of the night with my heart pounding in my chest at the slightest sound. To me, the bump in the night is not a fear of the unknown—it is a fear of reality. My nightmares have a name—a face—a memory.

“Very recently, and waging a war on women in an election season where ads about a fabricated birth control apocalypse and condom shortages are mainstream. But my real-life experience is not a gimmick or a strategy, it is just a truth. I could easily be your daughter, your sister, your wife, or your mother. This makes many people uneasy; to have to imagine their loved ones in my shoes. I’m not asking you to go out and buy a gun if that’s not your choice; I know it wasn’t always mine. All I ask is that you not infringe upon my rights to do so.” close quote.

Kimberly, thank you for speaking out. Some people would rather forget your attack.
Maybe we should use Kimberly’s story should as our gun quote. Our regular gun quote fits with her experience..

Segment 3 Interviews
Interview with Brian Aitken

Brian Aitken traveled through NJ with a firearm. Brian called the police and asked how to legally move through the state with his firearms. Brian was manipulated and prosecuted by the New Jersey court system. Simply put, he was sacrificed to the anti-gun New Jersey court system. He was sentenced to seven years in state prison. His sentence was commuted, rather than being pardoned and expunged. That means Brian is a convicted felon and can not vote or own firearms. A family court judge said he is not a fit father because of his conviction. Brian described his experience in his book “The Blue Tent Sky” The book was the conservative book of the month and is available in hardcover and as an e-book.

Brian worked for the Foundation for Economic Education. He also was given a “Sammie” award by the Samuel Adams Alliance for outstanding citizen leadership. Brian, welcome back to the polite society podcast.

Briefly tell our listeners what happened to you.

– as he tried to break-in at 2am on Wednesday morning. The 中国体彩官方appowner shot Harvey once in the chest. He collapsed a few blocks away and was taken to Creighton University Medical Center where he died. Harvey was the third 中国体彩官方app-invader killed in Omaha in recent months. While the 中国体彩官方appowner was questioned by police detectives after the incident, they said it was obvious that Harvey had tried to break-in by the damage he caused to the front door. No charges are pending against the 中国体彩官方appowner.

– were the victims of an armed 中国体彩官方app before sunrise on Monday morning. They were held at gunpoint and robbed of their wallets. As the 中国体彩官方app invader was leaving, the 17 year old daughter was able to free herself and grab a firearm. It was then that the 中国体彩官方app invader came back for a second time. He and the girl exchanged gunfire which made him leave for good. Neither the girl nor the robber were injured. Police have found the empty wallets but are still on the lookout for the 中国体彩官方app invader.
Rob- comment- would someone please make sure those two women get firearms training.

-We reported on this DGU very briefly on Wednesday but now have more info. an upscale Harris County, Texas neighborhood. After driving to the area in a stolen car, they threw rocks to break a window in the front of a 中国体彩官方app. As they were reaching in to unlock the front door, the 中国体彩官方appowner shot them in the upper torso with a shotgun. Both had to be airlifted to an area hospital with life changing injuries. The elder of the two said to be in her mid-20s suffered a spinal cord injury and is expected to paralyzed for life while the 17 year old may lose an arm. Harris County Police are calling this an unusual incident as it involved two female suspects and the neighborhood is usually very quiet.

– a Dallas, TX Aldi’s grocery store Tuesday night when 36 year old Mike Angel Carmillio approached them and grabbed Mrs. Lummus’ necklace off her neck. Carmillio then pushed her down and continued trying to rob her. It was then that Mr. Lummus drew his legally carried concealed handgun and started shooting at Carmillio. Carmillio then ran to his car and crashed a short distance away. He was found dead with his pistol in his hand. Police are calling the shooting justified and have no plans to charge Mr. Lummus. They did, however, refer the incident to a grand jury.

– around 1:45 AM on Friday. The 中国体彩官方appowner was armed with a rifle and shot one of the suspects multiple times causing them all to flee. Shortly thereafter, a car pulled up to UF Health Center with the injured suspect. Police took all four into custody. They don’t expect to bring any charges against the 中国体彩官方appowner who was uninjured.

– This next example of armed self-defense was sent to us by one of our listeners in Houston. Thank you, Scott!

There have been several robberies on the south side of Houston this month. A 中国体彩官方appowner heard the glass breaking at 3AM as a man came through the back window of his house. The 中国体彩官方appowner retrieved his firearm and found the intruder standing in his kitchen. The 中国体彩官方appowner was uninjured as was his wheelchair bound father who also lives in the 中国体彩官方app. It is hard to call this a cold burglary since there were four cars parked in the driveway and front yard at the time of the breakin. This was the second Houston-area 中国体彩官方app invasion in which a burglar was shot this week.

-This report is from your area of the country中国体彩官方app, Rob. A 30-year-old woman from the Lincoln Park area of San Diego woke up and found a burglar in her 中国体彩官方app at 2:30 AM. The 34 year old female intruder refused to leave. The intruder was verbally abusive and threatened the 中国体彩官方appowner. and shot the intruder in the leg. The intruder ran from the 中国体彩官方app but was arrested as she sat on the lawn a few houses away.

-Hey gang,
I’m just curious on what you all thought about this situation.

Would you defend/escort a MDA (or other similar gun-grabbing organization) member?
The short story, a woman wearing an MDA shirt was mocking an open carrier at a gas station. Then, some rowdy yoots came into the store. She then asked the open carrier to escort her to her car, to which his response was, “I’m sure that loud mouth of yours will keep you safe.”
I’d say that this “advocate” made a poor judgement decision that only helped this woman to seal her hatred of guns. I would have walked her to her car and maybe had a quick discussion on why she felt safer with an armed person, vs alone.

-Please check on episode 279.
The team does a fantastic job with an excellent podcast.
However, there were two verbal gaffes that change the meaning of the intended point.

  1. During the discussion on assault rifles and “assault weapons” in the very final review of the definitions they were actually switched.
  2. During the discussion of the Surgeon General and the better qualifications of the Acting Surgeon General, the position was accidentally called the Acting AG.

These things happen. Just wanted to alert you. Braden

Seg 1- Personal news from each participant

John – Work and teaching have been keeping me running around like chicken without its head so far this week. Thus, nothing gun related for me to report.

Rachel- Wilderness Fun Day at was a great success. I worked with a team of a couple dozen young people to put on the event for 40-50 attendees. We had medical scenarios out in the field complete with (fake) blood and guts, classes on everything from search and rescue to incident command structure to sheltering and fire-building, yummy food, fun, talent show, campfire with s’mores, and a great team of people who made my job (logistics) a breeze.

The next day was the Ghosts of Goliad marksmanship course at Battle Road. We had a group of guys who train together who discovered major equipment failures on their go-to battle rifles as well as a couple cute kids who just about out-shot everyone else. I enjoyed the long line of centerfires….great sight, sound, and smell.

The “Hickenlooper Blues” came from David Codrea, Dave Simpson and Cyd Lantz. The video came from Peter Gould. Give it a listen and a share.

-A California firearms owner was charged with making false statements on ATF Form 4473. A federal jury in Sacramento found him innocent. It took two long years for the gun owner to clear his name. Ulysses S. Grant Early was the defendant. Early was represented by civil rights attorney Donald Kilmer and his defense was partially funded by the Calguns Foundation. Early’s alleged crime was to purchase a handgun from a police officer. The firearm was NOT on California’s roster of approved firearms, though it is legal for law enforcement officers to buy this model of handgun. It is also legal for the officer to then sell the firearm to a third party. The sale is legal as long as the seller and buyer follow the many other California laws restricting firearms.

Early’s lawyer successfully argued that the police officer was the actual buyer, and that Early purchased the handgun from the officer in a separate legal transaction that occurred later. In his purchase of the handgun from the officer, Early adhered to all state and federal firearm laws. He used a licensed gun dealer for the transfer. He had a valid California firearms safety certificate. He completed and passed a background check, and he waited the required 10 days to receive the firearm.

Calguns Foundation Executive Director “The prosecution went too far with a charge based on an ambiguous form and a lack of clarifying regulations. The ATF needs to address its deficient process before more innocent lives are upended or destroyed by inadequately considered and improperly enforced federal gun control laws.”

Rob- California wages lawfare against gun owners. There are fewer and fewer firearms on California’s approved roster. This was a political hit designed to stop the purchase and sale of off-roster firearms through a person-to-person transaction. The government will take all the rights we are willing to surrender. Our liberties are only as strong as our willingness to defend them from the next unjust arrest. Please donate to the calguns foundation.

-Do citizens need firearms to protect themselves and their families? They do in thug-controlled Chicago. Corey Brooks is a pastor on the southside of Chicago. He was featured in an advertisement endorsing Republican gubernatorial candidate Bruce Rauner. Now His family has been threatened. His church has been vandalized. His church has been robbed. Now Pastor brooks says he’s moved his family into a new 中国体彩官方app while police investigate.

Brooks said he received the five phone calls on Friday. He recorded one of them, and provided it to police. In that call, which was played for the Sun-Times, a man’s voice is disguised via a high-pitched filter. He is heard calling Brooks a “token nigger.” “The death threats seem to be related to Bruce Rauner. The five phone calls mention Rauner as well as Pastor Brooks. “It’s really derogatory, real racial, a lot of homophobic words. It’s real life-threatening.”

Rob- Ministers are supposed to be our conscience. They are supposed to remind us right from wrong. There are a lot of political wrongs to be righted on the south side of Chicago. That won’t happen as long as the thugs sit in city hall. The Chicago police are supposed to work for the citizens. In fact, they work for the Chicago government. Now we are asking the police to investigate a number of crimes against the city’s political rival. It isn’t going to happen. No one will serve time for these crimes. No one.

-We have more crazy news, but this is from Virginia. Robert Dickens became the victim of a SWATting call. Dickens stopped for some coffee at a 7-11 in the skyline area of Fairfax, Virginia. He was traveling by motorcycle and open carrying. He was soon pulled over by four Fairfax police officers. The four officers disarmed mister Dickens. Dickens of course, asked why he was stopped. The police had a call from the 7-11 saying a white guy on a motorcycle was robbing the place. The next day, the Fairfax County Police Department revealed that the caller had made false calls before. The caller was a known SWATter. Unfortunately, the individual who makes the false calls is thought to be mentally ill. The FCPD has a difficult time pursuing a criminal SWATting case against the caller because they can’t prove criminal intent rather than bizarre mentally deviant behavior.

The caller claims he doesn’t know right from wrong. Somehow that makes it alright.

-Don’t worry, the police will protect us.. or not. James Brothers is a cab driver in Salt Lake City. He picked up four customers at a bar. The customers argued. Three of them got out at another party, but the fourth customer asked to be taken to the Hilton Hotel. This customer appeared intoxicated, and the driver complied. The driver grabbed his cell phone, ripped his keys from the ignition, and jumped out of his vehicle. The passenger grabbed and tore Mister Brown’s shirt as he fled. Fortunately the driver slipped away and called 911.

The assailant was 44-year-old Byron Keith McDonald of Texas. McDonald is a federal police officer with the Federal Bureau of Indian Affairs, a sub-agency of the Department of the Interior. The agent was on official business for the Bureau when he pulled his gun on the driver.

Security cameras at the hotel confirmed the driver’s story. McDonald was arrested and charged with third-degree felony aggravated assault. The Salt Lake County District Attorney said McDonald’s superiors are aware of what’s going on. Quote, “We don’t care whether you are a police officer, whether you are a rich person, poor person. It doesn’t matter what your status is. If you commit a crime and we have evidence to support that, we’re going to treat you like anybody else.” McDonald remained in jail for 5 days before posting bail. The driver said he no longer picks up passengers after dark.

– A Santa Fe County sheriff’s deputy shot and killed a fellow deputy during an argument at a Las Cruces, New Mexico hotel. 27-year-old deputy Tai Chan shot and killed 29-year-old deputy Jeremy Martin. The deputies had transported a New Mexico prisoner to Arizona and they were driving 中国体彩官方app when they stopped at the hotel in Las Cruces. Police said the two deputies went to a Dublin Street Pub where they got into an argument. They returned to the hotel around midnight where the argument escalated. The wounded deputy was taken to local hospital and pronounced dead. Officer Martin was married and had three children under the age of 10. A spokesman for the sheriff’s department said deputies are allowed to drink alcohol as long as they are not on duty, but they are held to a code of conduct.

-A voter in Douglasville, Georgia was told to remove his hat before being allowed to vote. Bundy Cobb, who is certified by the National Rifle Association in firearms training, wears the hat in part to promote his business, True Aim Defense. But poll workers apparently saw it as something different. Quote “I went by the first two ladies, and they didn’t say anything. And then the next lady, she said ‘sir, you’re going to have to take off your hat. Cobb looked down the voting line and saw another man with a hat on. “What’s the difference between his hat and mine?” Cobb asked.

That’s when workers told him that his NRA hat was perceived as being associated with the GOP and that he couldn’t wear it near the voting booth.

Cobb reportedly wore the same hat to the same polling place in several previous elections.

Cobb took off his hat and contacted a local reporter.. as well as the state board of elections.

Rob- Democrats are members of the NRA. Do they also outlaw clothing that identifies someone who supports Public School Teachers or fireman or police officers? Both are associated with the Democrat Party.

-Politics crosses borders. restrictions on long guns. This happened after the Muslim terrorist attacked the Canadian parliament. Members of government responsible for The Common Sense Firearms Licensing Act are refusing to discuss the bill. The bill was scheduled for three days of debate beginning on the day of the attack. The firearms bill has drawn criticism from the NDP, the Liberals and the Coalition for Gun Control for loosening restrictions on the transportation of restricted and prohibited firearms and for giving the cabinet rather than the RCMP the final say over the classification of dangerous weapons. They contend that this bill would increase the threat to public safety. It should be noted here that the terrorist used a non-restricted, non-prohibited Winchester 94 to carry out his attack. Moreover, he was a prohibited person due to his previous brushes with the law. Meanwhile, rather than allowing its military personnel to carry loaded firearms, Canada has ordered them not to wear their uniforms in public when off duty.

-The recent murder by a high-school student in Washington may promote more murderous bigotry against gun owners. Billionaire Nick Hanauer (HANHOUR) contributed one million dollars to Washington state firearms initiative I 594.

Comment- Well, we’ve had a school shooting, and amendment 594 would have done nothing, NOTHING to stop it.This young man broke a handful of laws, such as firearms theft, possession of a handgun by a minor, possession of a handgun on school grounds, and the far more serious laws against murder, attempted murder, and suicide.

This campaign is an emotional appeal to disarm Washington firearms owners. That is ALL it is, nothing more.

– who robbed three people at gunpoint late Saturday near the entrance to the North Carolina State University Club on Hillsborough Street. Police say the victims were walking to their vehicles after returning from the North Carolina State Fair around 11:30 p.m. when the armed men approached them and stole their wallets. No one was injured. The two robbers then drove off. List members will recall that NC Superior Court Judge Donald Stephens recently upheld an administrative ban on carry at the fair by Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler. Regardless of whether or not the three victims would have been armed if not for the ban, we find it hard to believe that the publicity announcing a gun free zone didn’t encourage the robbers.

-Last month whistleblower and retired ATF Agent Jay Dobyns won a long court battle against the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. Agent Dobyns had warned the public about corruption at the ATF, and that the ATF failed to address death threats against Dobyns family after Dobyns worked undercover. Now the ATF is dissatisfied with their loss in court.

This could take years in the courts.

Dobyns wrote on CleanupATF.org last week, Quote “I will never give in and I am excited to now have a panel of judges examine what ATF AND DOJ have done. ATF and DOJ want more scrutiny on their conduct? Let’s go! I wrongly believed that they would not want any more exposure on what dirty and corrupt organizations they are running but it appears that they have not yet felt enough pain. They will. I promise.”

comments- This looks like the same old retaliation from the Bureau that we saw before Acting ATF Director B. Todd Jones promised to cleanup the agency.

I think they picked on the wrong agent. Dobyns is a bulldog.

-A firearms company has some heavy guns off its own as it brings legal evidence against the ATF. The Bureau raided Ares Armor earlier this year over the sale of polymer 80% AR receivers. Ares filed by Daniel G. O’Kelly. O’Kelly stated that the polymer lowers are not receivers, and hence not firearms. Daniel O’Kelly is a 30 year veteran of law enforcement and has 20 years with the ATF. He essentially wrote the firearms training manual for ATF agents.

Rob- I was at a protest in support of Ares Armor. They are in my area. The are located in Oceanside, California. That is one of the towns immediately south of Camp Pendleton. Ares employs several veterans as you might expect.

-The to a federal judge’s ruling. The ruling from last July overturned the District’s total ban on carrying a gun in public. The Federal judge said he would not reconsider his decision. Ted Gest, spokesman for the DC attorney general’s office, says the District hasn’t been indecisive on whether to appeal, but rather has been waiting for the legal process to play out first.

Rob- did anyone doubt the District would appeal? An appeal is a win-win for DC. The delay enforcement of the judges ruling. The District judge might die or be transferred to another district, in which case DC would appeal again. If the District wins the appeal then they will prevent honest citizens from carrying in the district. The District might lose this appeal, but that could take years.

– Late Wednesday night, Judicial Watch finally received some information it has sought for years. to withhold over 15,000 documents detailing the “Operation Fast and Furious” gun-walking scandal, including email conversations between Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. and his wife. Operation Fast and Furious was the Federal operation involving the justice department, the state department, the FBI, Customs and the BATFE. The goal of Fast and Furious was to walk guns into the hands of the Mexican drug cartels. Nonetheless, the Justice Department was forced to release a 1,307-page “Vaughn index” identifying and describing the withheld documents. Those records were released last week and are online. The hidden records indicated extensive communications between top officials in the Justice Department, the White House, and BATFE related to how they planned to respond to both press and Congressional inquiries into Operation Fast and Furious. in case any listeners would like to search it on their own.

Rob- the White House has their fingerprints all over this coverup.

-An at The Ranch restaurant in Greeley Colorado invited gun owners to enjoy breakfast and raise awareness of Colorado law and Second Amendment Rights. The gathering gun owners could eat while armed. The breakfast was hosted by the local gun store, Brick House Guns. Store manager Rich Carroll said the purpose was to show that gun owners are responsible everyday citizens with a right to protect themselves and protect others in need.

With a Smith & Wesson revolver holstered at his side, Carroll stirred creamer in his coffee as he shared breakfast with his son, Riley, and Riley’s girlfriend, Brooke Quintana. 15 other firearms owners joined them in eating while armed. Carroll said the event was exactly what he had hoped for. The breakfast was calm, no one was uncomfortable. Some of the patrons at the restaurant who didn’t carry were curious and Carroll was happy to inform them.

comment- I’ve seen lots of car clubs that would meet and greet at a restaurant. I bet it is a great way to attract new friends. Praise the the ammunition and the tabasco sauce.

Smoky moe’s in Cedar park!??

–. Officers investigated a report of shots fired and found Randy Mcbride, 28, who had sustained a gunshot wound in the leg. McBride had put a sawed-off shotgun in his pants. While trying to draw the weapon, he pulled the trigger and the shot struck his leg. Mcbride is a known gang member and was treated for his injuries at Fresno Community Regional Medical Center. McBride is facing charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm. A night before, another gang member, 31 year old Edgar Navarro-Chavoya, shot himself with a .22 caliber revolver after threatening another man with a gun.

Rob- I was struck by lead, but never a shotgun.

Vic Khanna met firearms as an immigrant to the gun culture. The drug dealer next door pushed Vic to arm himself. He saw the right of self-defense and personal responsibility. Teaching firearms safety is part of a larger lesson. We don’t drive with drunks. We don’t take drugs with friends. My son learned we don’t stay in a room with an unsecured firearm at a neighbors house.

There is a lot of hostility from the anti-gun crowd. We have to reply in a civil tone. We have to remain attractive during the debate. Firearms ignorance can get our children killed. You need to get training with a firearm to meet your personal responsibilities.

We could cut our healthcare spending in half by simple self-care. We go to the doctor a billion times a year. Most of the time it is our fault for over eating, drinking and lack of exercise. We go to the doctor for every illness once we’re so compromised. Obamacare encourages more screening rather than encouraging good health.

A recent convert to islam attacked four rookie New York City police officers. Without warning, he swung a small axe and broke one officer’s arm. The second attack missed, but the third struck an officer in the back of the head. The remaining two officers shot the assailant. They also shot a 29-year-old woman in the back. She was walking a half-block away.

The officer is in serious but stable condition.

Rob- How are those knife laws working in New York?

l. He and a restaurant employee exchanged gunfire during an attempted robbery in which both were shot. Police say the shooter went into the Ensley restaurant around 6:30 p.m. Sunday to rob it and started shooting. An armed employee fired back. The employee was hit in the lower body and the injuries are not life threatening. The suspect was shot in the stomach and had to undergo emergency surgery.

–. Mr. Williams has had his 中国体彩官方app broken into multiple times in recent weeks and has had it ransacked. This time the burglars got the worse of the encounter as one of them got shot in the chest with a .22 rifle. They fled in a SUV and Mr. Williams continued firing at them shattering its rear-window. Shortly thereafter, the wounded burglar was dropped off at Trinity Medical Center. He later underwent surgery at UAB Hospital. Birmingham Police are continuing to investigate the incident.

The 中国体彩官方appowner told officers over the phone he had shot the intruder. “Officers did arrive on scene and located a male laying in the backyard of the residence,” said police spokeswoman Belva McClinton. “He succumbed to his injuries, so they did not transport from the scene.” Area residents said that the 中国体彩官方appowner is the father of a 9-year-old boy, and he made the choice he felt necessary to protect his household – a decision that locals say they understand.

Rachel- Thomas from Canada sent me a message after I complained about what days at the range do to my hair:

Guys have bad hair days at the range too! Until about 8 years ago, my hair was very long. Use to get caught in my belt and holster unless l tied it back lol. My solution was to carry a spray bottle of water in my car. I would wet my hair and brush it out. Great way to get rid of the hat head look!

Rob- John do you want to mention anything off of your blog you would like to talk about?

-John – . They released a radio ad this weekend aimed at African-American voters that had this statement in it – “Tillis even led the effort to pass the type of stand your ground laws that caused the shooting death of Trayvon Martin”. They are referring to the passage of NC’s Castle Doctrine law in 2011. Besides its reprehensible efforts at race baiting, this ad is wrong on two fronts. While Thom Tillis didn’t stand in the way of the passage of our Castle Doctrine law, he didn’t lead the effort. Second, George Zimmerman’s defense never brought up stand your ground. It was a straight self-defense effort. This ad proves that accusations of racism are the last refuge of a liberal scoundrel!
