Rachel: Everyone knows an armed society is a polite society. This is the Polite Society Podcast where we support and report on civilian self-defense.
Tom: Welcome中国体彩官方app to Episode 207 recorded on Wednesday, the 29th of January, 2014. I’m Sticks.
Rob: I’m Rob and on tonight’s show we have an interview with author, podcaster and firearms trainer George Hill.
Rachel: I’m guest-host Rachel Malone, instructor, writer, speaker, and gun-rights lobbyist from Austin, Texas. We also have an interview with Luke Wagner of the newly formed Colorado Second Amendment Association.
Tom: the Polite Society Podcast starts right now.
Catch up with each participant.
Rob: Setting up another new shooter’s night. Been too sick to dry practice.
Rachel: I was at the Gun Rights Across America (GRAA) rally at the Texas State Capitol January 19. I was honored to speak, encouraging participation in the legislative and elections process, and afterwards I got to carry my AR-15 in an Open Carry walk down 6th street in downtown Austin with Come And Take It Austin.
– taught a CHL class
– working with gun rights/open carry group leaders from across TX to prepare for legislation
– voted in an election for state representative in which, by 1;30 PM in my precinct, 30 people had voted. On the one hand, that’s depressing (low voter turnout). On the other hand, that’s encouraging (only takes a few people to make a difference). State Representative campaigns can be won by unknown people who know what they are about and who block walk and knock on doors during the entire campaign season.
-met with an A Girl And A Gun facilitator, also been working some with Julianna Crowder, the founder of the growing national organization A Girl And A Gun (fantastic organization!) and also the woman who first helped me shoot a gun (when I took her CHL class) and gave me a great first experience and started me on the path I’m now on
-been setting up Appleseed shoots at some new ranges
-LibertySeed events (history portion of the Appleseed)
Tom: Range time with my significant other.. and paying the bills?

Seg 2- News
Rachel- a friend of mine, Kathy Perkins, was at the Come and Take It walk in Ft. Worth last weekend. The group stopped to buy Girl Scout cookies, snapped a picture, and sent it to one of the girl scout moms at her request. Well, that picture went viral, captured media attention, and garnered some rather negative response. I was so proud of Kathy, who is the founder of Moms With Guns Demand Action (a group she started in response to the gun-grabber group Moms Demand Action). Kathy did a great Fox news interview in which she explained that the CATI open carriers were friendly, just stopping for cookies, and in no way caused alarm to the Girl Scouts – as evidence by their huge smiles in the picture that started the whole controversy.
Rachel- Mississippi state Representative John Moore has introduced two Knife Rights bills, both aimed at passing Knife Law Preemption and removing from the list of weapons prohibited from being carried concealed specific knife types, namely “bowie knife, dirk knife, butcher knife, switchblade knife.” Mississippi is unique in allowing two bills from the same sponsor covering the same legislation. While each is worded differently, both and accomplish the same goals. This is the SEVENTH Knife Rights backed legislation introduced in 2014!
Tom- A bill before Arizona lawmakers would allow . Supporters of House Bill 2412, including Attorney General Tom Horne, say the legislation would protect children and staff in the event of a mass shooting. The AG said he’d like to put armed police officers in schools full time, but knows that the Arizona budget won’t support that.
Rob- Mexico essentially on Monday, while also announcing that security forces had captured one of the four top leaders of the Knights Templar drug cartel, which the vigilante groups have been fighting for the last year. The government said it had reached an agreement with vigilante leaders to incorporate the armed civilian groups into old and largely forgotten quasi-military units called the Rural Defense Corps. Vigilante groups estimate their numbers at 20,000 men under arms.
Rachel- An anti-gun pediatrician claims that each day. To reach that number, he had to include suicides and 20 year old drug dealers shooting each other. These numbers are far in excess of the
Tom -Texas gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis and wants to remove restrictions on where gun owners are allowed to carry. This should surprise any Texas voters who’ve been paying attention. Davis received an F-rating from the NRA based on her voting record in the Texas Senate. Davis voted against and then blocked reconsideration of bills allowing license holders to bring their firearms on college and university campuses. Hmmm.
Rob- from the same stuff, different day file, That included ammunition magazine and BB gun registration. The current bill proposes that all new long guns require a serial number and registration. That leaves police being unable to tell an illegal gun from an old gun that never required registration. California gun owners need to monitor their civil rights groups like Gun Owners of California and the Here it comes again.
Rachel: “Today, we need a nation of Minutemen, citizens who are not only prepared to take arms, but citizens who regard the preservation of freedom as the basic purpose of their daily life and who are willing to consciously work and sacrifice for that freedom.” Said on this date in 1961 by President John F. Kennedy.
Tom: We have to go to break, then we have an interview with George Hamilton Hill (also known as the Mad Ogre). George is an author, podcaster, radio commentator and firearms instructor. Hang on, everybody. After George we have an interview with Luke Wagner of the newly formed Colorado Second Amendment Association. We’ll be back after the interview and close out the show.

Tom Four idiots found out that invading a San Antonio 中国体彩官方app can be dangerous and is harder than it appears in TV crime dramas. The four fools attempted to break into an occupied apartment. The resident told them to go away or he’d shoot. They wouldn’t. He did, hitting one of the intruders in the face. The wounded man was dropped off at the hospital.. which was where the other three were arrested.
Rachel A robber was found on the roof of a Tulsa 中国体彩官方app where he was held at gunpoint until police arrived. According to the police report, a small bag of methamphetamine was found on the suspect. Ya think!?
Rob From the Bad Cop file. A grand jury has indicted a Charlotte police officer for voluntary manslaughter in the fatal shooting of an unarmed former Florida A&M football player. The indictment was handed down Monday hours after a judge ruled the North Carolina Attorney General’s office could resubmit the case to a grand jury. Investigators say Officer Randall Kerrick shot 24-year-old Jonathan Ferrell ten times on Sept. 14 as Ferrell looked for help after a car crash.
No donut for you, Officer Kerrick.
Tom It’s cold outside. A man entered a Sonoco gas station in Knoxville Tennessee Sunday night wearing a white facemask. The masked man then claimed he had a gun and demanded cash. The clerk then proved he had a weapon as he drew and pointed his weapon at the thief. The thief was last seen running southbound at a high rate of speed from the store at 600 Ebenezer Road.
